For animals, a dream home can be a place to lay eggs, raise young, hide from danger or even a place to hibernate. Primarily though, animal or human, we all want to feel safe.

This stunning book highlights twenty animals and their homes. Each double page spread is gloriously illustrated, showing the creature in their habitat and containing a summary of the animal, their home building habits, skills, general information re feeding, hibernation and reproduction plus raising their young. All of the information is presented either within the illustrations or via the story-like text which is written in a narrative style that Sir David Attenborough would be jealous of.

We read it with children age 6-9 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This book is a real delight. The illustrations are lush and colourful. The very simple text explains where a series of animals live. The animals chosen are out of the ordinary, so a child will learn a lot about more unusual, rare and endangered species such as ant eaters, orangutans and leaf tailed geckos. Just beautiful and a great book to talk about with your child when reading and with older children to use as a basis for sparking an interest in carrying out a bit more research into habitats and animals.

This was a lovely book with beautiful illustrations. The facts were very informative and enjoyable too. My favourite part was the spread on the leaf tailed gecko as I love reptiles. Well worth a read - for adults as well as the intended audience - youngsters.
