This book did a good job exploring Ahsoka's character, but I wish it read a little less young and trusted the reader a little more. I found the side characters repetitive from the Clone Wars series, and the antagonists couldn't do much meaningful because they have to save that for Rebels. All in all, a bridge novel, but Ahsoka fans should enjoy it enough.

An incredible read, one that any star wars fan can’t miss out on.
Everyone’s favourite Togruta gets her own novel and backstory in a tale that grips from the start.
Don’t go into it expecting for the book to follow the series on Disney+ as this was written and published a few years before the show or her first live action appearance in The Mandalorian.
What you’ve got here is a stand-alone novel, a tale of Ahsoka hiding away after Order 66, making her own path in the galaxy and trying to stay one step ahead of the Empire.
A terrific book, one that is a jewel in my book collection.

Fans have long wondered what happened to Ahsoka after she left the Jedi Order near the end of the Clone Wars, and before she re-appeared as the mysterious Rebel operative Fulcrum in Rebels. Finally, her story will begin to be told.

This book provides some of Ahsoka's story between the Clone Wars and the Rebels TV shows and introduces some of the characters from Rebels. It starts on the one-year anniversary of the establishment of the Empire. The story successfully conveys life under the Empire's occupation and its impact on the everyday lives of people. The final battle is exhilarating and the reader is left wanting to continue to follow the characters into their new adventures.
I did however struggle a bit with the extracts from the past which were dotted throughout the book but did not always seem connected to the main story.
I would highly recommend watching the Clone Wars series before reading this book, as background knowledge is essential!

Ahsoka by E. K. Johnston
Rating: 4/5
Release Date: 9 May 2024

This story offers a pleasant and engaging read. It's evident that the author has put considerable effort into research and planning, providing valuable insights into Ahsoka's journey towards becoming Fulcrum.

I absolutely adored this book! While I typically gravitate towards longer fantasy or romance novels, my inner Star Wars fan couldn't resist diving into this one. The abundance of references to various elements of the Star Wars universe added an extra layer of enjoyment for me.

Plus, delving deeper into Ahsoka's character was a real treat, especially as I enjoyed the TV series so much, but this book provided even more depth and complexity to her story, which I absolutely loved.

The writing itself was simply stunning, drawing me in from the very first page and keeping me captivated until the end. Overall, a fantastic read that satisfied both my love for Star Wars and my appreciation for well-crafted storytelling.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Bonnier Books UK | Studio Press, and the author, E. K. Johnston, for providing me with an ARC copy in exchange for an honest and fair review.

I really enjoyed this book, I tend to read much longer more fantasy/romance type books but I have always been a girl that loves Star Wars so when I saw this I had to read it. I loved it, all the references to different things in the Star Wars universe, I also love we get to explore Asoka as a character more, I enjoyed the TV show on Disney plus but this gave more depth to her which I loved. The writing was beautiful!
