The House Share follows the lives of four residents living in apartments in Bridgewater House:

- Louise, a soon-to-be single mother, juggling her career aspirations, children, cheating husband and relationship with her longtime friend, Guy, who might be something more.
- Mollie, a widower, who still sees her dead husband and talks to him.
- Marcie, who is struggling to have a child with her much older husband and is having a hard time connecting with his children from a previous relationship.
- Roddy, a recovered alcoholic, battling his ex-wife to allow him to spend time with his children.

This book was pitched as 'uplifting and funny' and I was disappointed. I struggled to find the humour throughout the story as the characters were battling a ton of issues around infidelity, careers and their children, which resulted in the storylines being overall quite heavy and somewhat dreary. I didn't connect with any of the main characters except for Roddy, who was the most interesting. Seeing him turn his life around and fight for his relationship with his children was heartwarming and one of the few uplifting moments of the book.
