I really did want to love this. The premise is such a good idea but I’m not sure it was executed in the best way.
The writing has too many over descriptions.
I hate most of the characters.
I did enjoy seeing Jade’s growth and her friends are great. The ending was chaotic.
Disappointed I didn’t enjoy it.

What this wouldn’t be considered my read of the year, it’s an enjoyable light read that follows Jade's journey from people-pleaser to someone who writes their own script.

The story of Jade, the much put upon hero of the story, who navigates life’s ups and downs gaining sneak previews every now and again by finding scripts containing ‘scenes’ yet to happen.
This sounded interesting……….
However this debut by Fearne Cotton really lacked any excitement or characters with endearing qualities. Whilst I did like the script finding element we never really discovered what that was all about. Jade was surrounded by the most toxic family members, boss & boyfriend and I was immensely irritated by the sister who had zero redeeming features about her. Even after Jade grows some really tiny balls at the rehearsal dinner, she still did not confront her sister in any sort of satisfying way.
Why was so much space taken up with the wedding at the end? And the weak plot line involving Luca *eye roll*, just, why???? It just felt like Cotton ran out of steam.

I really liked Fearne Cotton's writing style in this book, it is humourous and relatable and I read it far too quickly!
Imagine how useful it would be to have a heads up of future awkward situations? This is what happens for main character Jade when she starts finding mysterous scripts featuring her friends and family of conversations that she hasnt had yet! As she reads on she realises that the outcome of these conversations is not good for her and her family is walking all over her. Can she change the scripts and rewrite her future happiness?
An enjoyable light read, I look forward to more from Fearne!

A very enjoyable book that i won’t hesitate to recommend to others. Thanks for the opportunity to read & review it. Well done to Fearne on a great read.

This book has several strengths, and I was happy to see that my expectations were met in terms of the smooth writing style.
I liked the MC. The concept was enjoyable too, however, perhaps due to other books I have read in the past, it did not ring entirely original to me. Though, I can see how this can be fresh and interesting for many audiences. This is an empowering read for younger readers (teens, young adults, early 30s) and I highly recommend it to those who enjoy witty writing, exaggerated awful behaviour and lovely MCs.

I love Fearne Cotton and I have read previous books by her but mainly her self care books, This is the first fiction book that I have read by her and I definitely enjoyed following Jade's story but I didn't feel the same enjoyment all the way through.

"Scripted" by Fearne Cotton is a gripping and thought-provoking novel that dives into the complexities of relationships, self-discovery, and the power of choice. At the heart of the story is Jade, a young woman who feels lost and overlooked in her own life. Pushed around by her family and taken for granted by her boyfriend, Jade struggles to find her voice and assert her worth.
The unexpected discovery of a script outside her flat sets off a chain of events that challenges Jade to confront her reality and take control of her future. As the scenes in the script begin to play out in her life, Jade is faced with the uncomfortable truth of her circumstances and the unsettling realization that her future may be predetermined.
Cotton's writing is sharp and engaging, drawing readers into Jade's world as she navigates the tangled web of relationships and expectations. The story unfolds with twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the very end. Through Jade's journey of self-discovery, Cotton explores themes of empowerment, resilience, and the importance of forging your own path.
"Scripted" is a captivating read that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt trapped by the expectations of others. It's a reminder that we have the power to shape our own destiny, and that sometimes, the most unexpected moments can lead us to the answers we've been searching for.

I loved this book and was hooked from the very first page. It’s a story about Jade who just can’t say no to anyone, even when their demands are totally outrageous. She’s a people pleaser in the extreme and is taken advantage of by those closest to her, especially her boyfriend and sister. She starts to receive pages of scripts which warn her of what’s coming next in various situations and although she sees what she’s going to say in advance and is warned about how she’s being manipulated at first she has no power to change anything. It’s really rewarding to see how gradually she manages to become much more assertive and the reader is cheering her on (I certainly was, anyway).
I am looking forward to reading more fiction from Fearne Cotton.
Thank you very much to NetGalley and the publisher for a free advance copy of Scripted in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed it towards the end but I felt like there was a lot of pointless chapters. The side characters are all very unlikely except for her work mates. Her family and boyfriend are all awful to her but it seemed over the top. I enjoyed the last few chapters more than most of the book

This book tells the story of Jade, a scenic painter. The story centers around Jade find scripts of conversations with her friends and family that are yet to take place. I loved the quirky ideas behind this and the characters are so well developed! I really HATED the character of Lily, which goes to show that Cotton is a fantastic writer!
