A sweetly spooky spin on a favorite Halloween figure. Follow Terrence and his feline friend on a kitchen pantry journey as they recount the day that a jam sandwich was mysteriously turned into a vampire. How can you protect your own stash of strawberry jam? By boxing it up for safe keeping, and labeling it with... Terrence's name? Hm. Young readers will get a chuckle out of this short and slightly silly story, especially the cat lovers among them.

This book was super cute children's book perfect book to read in October only wish it was a little bit longer but other than that its super cute and create little Halloween book! And not scary so it wont scare little children.

Vampire Jam Sandwich is a hilarious children's version of the classic Dracula, featuring an adorable cat and a vampire sandwich. I can't resist books with cats.
I love that the illustrations only have two colors, which creates a perfect match for the plot. The fun story will keep you on the edge of your seat and surprise you at the end. I'm sure kids will love its humor and want to read it again and again. It's the perfect read-aloud for the Halloween season or any time you need a laugh!

I was so excited for this book. My kids' love spooky stories (ages 5, 9, and 15) and I thought this would be perfect for my youngest son. However, he didn't like it, and I understand why. Let's start with the positives though.
The illustrations are adorable. The little vampire teeth, the spooky color palette. The background details are great too, and I appreciate the style of the cute & spooky characters.
The story though, fell a bit flat. It was too short. I understand it's trying to appeal to a younger age group, and maybe kiddos under the age of 5 will enjoy it. My 5 year old though wasn't entertained. It was silly and didn't really have a lesson to teach, which is fine, there are many books that do that. The story just felt rushed. I just feel like something is missing. I can't put my exact finger on what, but the story lacked substance.

What a cute story! I would have loved this one as a kid! It's shirt, so good for children with very little attention span, but still engaging. I really like the artwork. It's dark without being morbid. Thos would be a great read for around a campfire, or Halloween, any just any time you want to see a vampire sandwich!

Vampire Jam Sandwich is an adorable story that will entertain new readers. The pictures are delightful and will keep the kids laughing throughout the story.

HILARIOUS!! I love a good children’s book that’s smart. Where it’s both for the adult reading it and the kid listening to it!

Very cute and silly--great for Halloween displays and read alouds. The use of color in the illustrations was very engaging. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for letting me read!

netgalley ARC - creative idea with a fun twist at the end! I love how the coloring was done to emphasize the reds.

I requested this on NetGalley because it just seemed so cute and refreshing- and I was correct!! This is such a cute lil children’s book with beautiful illustrations!! Definitely something I will be buying and reading for my nieces.

This book was a little bit too messy for my taste. Overall it's a fun fast read for kids who like a cute spooky things.

This jam-loving vampire is clever, and so is this book! The wonderful silliness of jam vs. blood will give young readers both a pleasantly spooky shiver and a good out-loud laugh. Kids can also look for subtle clues along the way as to the true identity of their narrator, especially on a second read. Well-written, vividly illustrated and totally fun!

Adorable! It is a cutesy book about jam going array. Small simple book without too much detail. Would make a great board book. The art is dark with bright red jam. Great Halloween book without being spooky.

Cute little story. Would be a fun one to read and discuss in a primary classroom. A great story for Halloween time. I could definitely see myself creating a lesson around it.

A wonderful spooky children's title with a cheeky twist. The illustrations are lovely and atmospheric and absolutely adorable

From the very first bite, Vampire Jam Sandwich is a hilariously spooky treat that both kids and parents will enjoy! If you're a fan of Dragons Love Tacos or Frank Was a Monster Who Wanted to Dance, this clever picture book will feel right at home in your collection.
The story? A vampire—possibly named Terrence—sinks his fangs into a jam sandwich, only to create a ... Vampire ... Jam ... Sandwich! This undead snack isn’t your ordinary PB&J—it’s cursed to roam from one unsuspecting kitchen to the next, always on the lookout for more jam. Is your pantry safe? Probably not. The premise is delightfully absurd, and kids will eat up every squishy, spooky detail.
Casey Lyall masterfully pulls off silly humor for the little ones and an unreliable narrator for the adult readers, with plenty of surprises to keep everyone laughing.
With its playful wordplay, delightfully silly premise, and a storyline that's completely unique, this book is an instant hit for bedtime or story time.
I highly recommend adding it to your bookshelf. Just, you know, keep an eye on your jam jar (and that sneaky narrator). 🩸🍞

I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you @NetGalley, @RandomHouseCA, and Tundra Books for sending this book for review consideration. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

How does one review a book about a vampiric sandwich? Well here goes nothing.
Casey Lyall, in very few words, is able to weave a compelling, and silly, story about a "Vampire" named Terrence. The art style lends itself well to the rather macabre story and the narrator. I found myself reading the story in my very best Vincent Price impression to add to the gothic nature. This is not to say that "Vampire Jam Sandwich" is meant to be a scary story; spooky and campy are more the direction I would say it took.
Overall, this is a great picture book and, as a youth librarian, one that I will be waiting for to come into our collection. Simple enough for a kiddo to read themselves, but it can also be a read-aloud and especially would work great as a story-time book. I give it my full recommendation
The only negative I see is, now I am hungry for a jam sandwich, be right back...

I loved this book! It was adorable. This is perfect for children, just dark and gothic enough for little baby bats, appropriate and not too scary. I will buy it for my children when it is published.

This is such a sweet (yes pun intended) book! I love the eerie vibes from the images and I can picture a lot of potential for a Count Dracula impression during a read-aloud. This story will have little ones giggling and it's perfect for the Halloween season even though it could be read at any time of the year.
