It's fair to say I struggled with this book, there was a lot of promise with this book and due to various reasons I feel fell flat. I really disliked the main female character, to me she seemed like a bit of an abuser as to her she handled situations.

This book had noooo right. Noooo right being this good. Wtaf. Couldn’t put it down, I was addicted to it. I’ve taken to not requesting books by authors I don’t know on NetGalley and, phew - I’m so glad this one didn’t slip me by! Because now time exist in before this book and after this book 😂 Anyway, to me, it is clearly a must read.

What to expect:

- teenage sweethearts reunited
- golden retriever MMC and black cat FMC
- spicy
- Emily Henry vibes

Characters were just 'too much' and heroine too unlikeable and unsympathetic to make me really enjoy this one. The humour had potential, but the relentless being nasty and rude just for the sake of being nasty and rude like that's a badge of honour got irritating really fast and I just couldn't get behind the romance (it just started to feel like anything but a romance) and the subsequent HEA.

If you like a good will they, won't they or second chance romance, I have a feeling you will really enjoy this.
While I hadn't heard of this particular author before, I was drawn in by the blurb and I certainly enjoyed it.
It felt like a true rom com, which isn't always the case these days, with me chuckling throughout.
I also really appreciated the right person wrong time aspect of this and thought they had some solid chemistry.
There was some nice character development too.
I will definitely be keeping an eye out for what Katelyn Doyle does next.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"Just Some Stupid Love Story" by Katelyn Doyle is anything but ordinary. This novel takes the classic tropes of romantic fiction and turns them on their head with a fresh, witty, and deeply relatable approach. Doyle’s writing is sharp and engaging, filled with humor and genuine emotion, making this story resonate with readers who have ever felt the highs and lows of love.

The story follows two protagonists who, despite their best efforts to avoid the clichés of a typical romance, find themselves entangled in a relationship that’s as unexpected as it is inevitable. Doyle brilliantly captures the awkwardness, messiness, and sheer unpredictability of modern love, all while infusing the narrative with a healthy dose of self-awareness and satire. The characters are wonderfully flawed and deeply human, each navigating the complexities of love, relationships, and the expectations that come with them.

What sets "Just Some Stupid Love Story" apart is its ability to balance humor with heartfelt moments. Doyle doesn’t shy away from exploring the more challenging aspects of love—such as vulnerability, fear, and the risk of getting hurt—while still delivering a story that’s entertaining and full of warmth.

This novel is perfect for readers who enjoy romance with a twist, where the journey is just as important as the destination. Katelyn Doyle has crafted a story that’s both funny and poignant, making "Just Some Stupid Love Story" a standout read for anyone who appreciates a love story that’s as smart as it is sweet.

What a lovely second chance rom com this was! A high school reunion brings up some mixed feelings which takes the two main characters on a journey. I was really impressed with Doyle's writing style with her dual POV story. This is a book I cannot wait to have on my physical bookshelf

Molly and Seth were high school sweethearts until she broke his heart. Now at their school reunion they meet again, and the chemistry is still there but can they make it work this time round?

This book is so good. Like really really good. It had solid characters, enough will they/wont they to keep me on my toes, and I was hooked all the way through.

Dual POV and second-chance romance!!! Count me in. Molly and Seth, who were high school sweethearts until Molly abruptly ended things, are the subjects of just some stupid love story. She believes she has moved on from this and lives to regret it, until she runs across Seth at her fifteenth high school reunion. They get back together for the evening and make bets on who will be present at the 20th reunion and what will happen, including them. Although Molly is difficult to like and uses a lot of elaborate vocabulary that I had to look up, overall, I really like this novel. Still, I felt it would be a great summer or holiday book, and I really enjoyed it!

I don't even know where to start with this book. It's the kind of story that sucked me in so completely that I didn't make many notes because I just wanted to read!

Seth & Molly are my favourites. I actually love the relationship between them and love watching it build throughout the book. I'm normally not a huge fan of second chance romances but this was done a bit differently to others and I really liked the way it was written.

I enjoy that the book started before Covid and then continued through the pandemic. It was easy to relate to how the characters were feeling during their time in quarantine and how people changed during it.

The people felt so real, and so well written that it was as if I knew them.

I need to point out that I cried so much whilst reading this but I also laughed ALOT. I loved the banter between Seth and Molly, I loved the friendships Molly had and I even found myself SO disappointed in Rob.

I am a bit annoyed with myself for not writing more notes on this as I honestly believe this is one of the best books that I have read this year and can't wait to read more by this author.

TROPES:
- Second chance romance
- GrumpyxSunshine
- Cinnamon roll MMC
- Long distance
- Friends to lovers? I feel like this counts
- High school sweethearts

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year and unfortunately It took me a long time to get into it. I just couldn't connect with the characters, I will say it is well written and easy to follow, it just wasn't for me.

3.25⭐️

A second chance romance novel that I enjoyed as an overall. The premise is really interesting, and I did have fun in the story in general.

My favorite part here is probably the fact that our Molly, FMC, is a screen writer, I loved that the story kind of delved more of it and let us see her success.

Other than that, the story, in general, is fun. The banter was good. There were parts that made me laugh and parts as well that made me roll my eyes.

The romance, on the other hand, for me, kind of felt a little lacking? It didn't really stick to me that much. I would say that I was really hoping that I would love the romance as well.

Seth wasn't really that striking for me? I mean, I feel sorry for him for that, but he was really shaky for me? I would say his character wasn't to my liking.

Lastly, this is another novel where I think the writing could have been better? Like more flawless and smooth when it comes to storytelling. Although it was engaging and fast-paced for me, the writing felt flat like a half of the book.

Overall, I hoped the writing was much smoother, and the romance was more striking and compelling.

When I read the premise of this book, I knew I had to read it! I was lucky enough to get an early copy and let me tell you, I LOVED every minute of it!

I loved Molly and her character development throughout the book. It was heartbreaking to see how badly her past traumatized her but at the same time it was so good to see her find hope again and fight to overcome her trauma and get a happy ending.

And Seth… what can I say about this man other than can I have him?🥹 He was such a sweet guy. I love his love for love and the way all he wanted was to find his soulmate and and have a family he could care for and love was so freaking adorable!!! The way he loved Molly and never gave up on them - I can’t even.

They were so good together! Knowing how badly her past had affected her, Molly was very conflicted when she realized she was still in love with Seth and started wanting the exact things she thought she’d never be able to get/didn’t believe in. But deep down, she knew Seth was it for her and she fought as hard as she could to make it happen, always trying to communicate with him and trying to stop herself from repeating her patterns. Knowing what she’d been through, Seth was incredibly supportive and always tried his best to put himself in her shoes and give her time to process her feelings.

The right person wrong time was done beautifully in this book and used in just the right measure so it didn’t become too frustrating but made it even more satisfying when the two finally got together!

A huge thank you to piatkus and netgalley for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely devoured this book, the witty banter was on point and the MCs were both perfect. I think 99% of female readers will connect with Molly and some of her feelings about love. It really was an incredible rom com, I was laughing and crying through it all.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for a copy of the arc

Just Some Stupid Love Story by Katelyn Doyle is a fun and heartfelt rom-com that follows Molly and Seth, high school sweethearts who reconnect at their 15th reunion. The banter between them is hilarious, keeping me laughing throughout the book. The “right person, wrong time” trope is beautifully painful, and their five-year journey is both gratifying and heart-wrenching.
Molly's job as a screenwriter and Seth's as a divorce attorney add depth to the story, and the female friendships are heartwarming. However, the repetitive cycle of their relationship issues made the last few chapters drag a bit. I felt the final breakup was Seth’s fault but no redemption arc there.
The epilogue felt rushed with the typical marriage-and-kids trope and didn’t add too much novelty . Molly’s character was hard to like due to her trust issues but the dual POV and high school reunion setting were enjoyable. Overall, it's a quick summer read that many will enjoy.

Very grateful to the publisher for this copy, opinions are my own .

There was so much potential in this book, as the plot line of a divorce attorney who believes in love and a romcom writer who doesn’t IS PURE catnip!
However I found the heroine Molly very hard to engage with and it was hard to understand where her anti-love stance came from - I felt like she needed a more in-depth backstory. Also I felt a lack of chemistry between the heroine and hero, and the end was very rushed

A Rom-com writer who’s afraid to open herself to love and a divorce lawyer who’s hoping for his happy ever after. Our two main characters - Molly and Reuben - were childhood sweethearts who broke up before college. They meet at their High School reunion, and end up spending the night together.
From the outset we can see these two should make a great couple. There’s the expected blips along the way, but it’s clear that they have chemistry. When they place a bet on which five couples will last, we wonder which will be right.
Much as I enjoyed the idea, I found Molly a hard character to warm to. She recognised some of the things that impacted her, but did nothing to address them. I also felt the closing stages of the apology/rom com idea were unlikely, and can’t believe that such a close group of friends as these are meant to be would not have intervened sooner.

I wanted to love this, a second chance romance in split POV sounds right up my street but it just wasn’t for me.

I found the writing overly descriptive and flowery for no real reason and that really took away from the plot for me.

this was so nice to read - it did take me a little while to get into but once i was fully into it i really did enjoy it!

something about a dual pov, second chance romance with the grumpy-sunshine dynamic will always win me over.

i really enjoyed this, thank you so much to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc 🫶🏻
