“I am seen. I exist. I’m not alone”.

This is an absolutely exquisite, beautiful and incredible book. I’m so, so freakin glad I got to listen to this radical, gentle powerhouse story.

The narrator is fantastic and emotive, really capturing the story and voice. I bought the graphic novel to explore along and together, they were so immersive and beautiful.

“Blossoming in an environment where the odds are stacked immeasurably against you is a beautiful act of defiance”.

Stunning.

This book is amazing! I listened to the ARC of the audiobook and it's so wonderfully done. The narrator is amazing and the sound effects are great. I was a bit nervous about how it would translate from a graphic novel but it didn't feel disjointed at all.

Reading this made me feel so at home in myself and look back at who I used to be and how far I've come. Everyone should read this book no matter who they are. It makes you feel so warm and cosy ❤️

I had read a digital copy of this book and loved it so much that I was delighted to be approved to listen to the audio version. It did not disappoint! I loved the narrators and the sound effects and music were also fantastic touches. I really felt that it was brought to life perfectly, which I imagine would be hard to do for a graphic novel. However, it did not suffer but was a great listen, short but sweet, and I loved being able to experience it in a different format.

Such a great book for a young audience! I was given the audiobook and the quality, sound effects and back track for it was amazing makes you really feel how they want the book to be read. Love this!

I loved Home Body as a graphic novel. I think it's incredibly timely and adds a much needed humanity to the 'debate' that is causing so much unnecessary distress at the moment.

Theo's voice is honest, poetic, emotive, engaging and funny on the page and let me tell you: Roly Botha is the PERFECT personification of Theo - the perfect guide through their story. Enchanting to listen to and an added layer of humanity that gave this story even more depth.

I don't listen to many audio books, because my concentration levels are low, but I was intrigued to find out how a graphic novel would translate. The answer is: incredibly well. Truthfully, this feels more like a fully fledged radio drama than I was anticipating and it was exactly what Theo and their story deserved.

Well done to all involved, and I really hope the novel and the audio book can be used to help others see that these are ordinary people's lives that are being weaponised.

I was fortunate enough to get an early review copy of this audio book - it’s a lovely quality recording and the narrator has a warm and welcoming voice. As the mother of a trans son, I want to try to understand the experience of being transgender…thank you, Theo, for your courage and generosity in sharing your story.

Where to even begin with the most beautiful book I've read this year, and it was the 50th book I read.
Homebody is most definitely essential reading for everyone, it so graciously explains what it means to be non-binary, while always leaving room for fluidity and change.
Homebody is a graphic memoir and follows Theo's journey as they learn what it means to be themselves. The book explores conforming to the rules of society and the dysphoria this causes, questioning and the comfort in trying new ways of expressing your identity, to finding your people and understanding that being non-binary is a journey rather than a destination.
Homebody will forever have a cherished space on my shelf, I truly believe everyone should read this incredible book. And I applaud Theo for writing such a candid and emotional story about their own life, these stories that prove a happy and positive future is possible for trans youth is needed so desperately.
I read this alongside listening to the audiobook and although a graphic memoir is ideally seen in picture format, the sound effects create a beautiful immersive experience for the readers who prefer audiobooks. I think more non-fiction books should go to the effort to include such incredible auditory effects. Well done to whoever was responsible for the decisions regarding this audiobook.

Thank you to NetGalley, Theo Parish and Macmillan UK Audio for providing me with an audiobook ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

This short audiobook was such a wholesome and insightful look into the life of a young transgender artist. While some parts of the memoir were obviously less positive than others, the story as a whole felt so hopeful. I can't speak for the trans community but I do feel that this audiobook would be a great reference for anyone struggling with their gender identity.

The production of the audiobook was absolutely stunning! I wondered how a graphic novel could be translated into audio and I'll admit I was a little sceptical going into this one, but it did not disappoint! The music and sound effects paired so well with the different voices and accents and I found myself picturing it all so clearly in my head!

Overall I really enjoyed this! It was short and sweet and conveyed all it needed to. It's an emotional and thought provoking memoir that gives such a good insight into what it's like to grow up non-binary.

After absolutely loving the graphic novel that I was on the blog tour for, I think I loved the audio even better! Such an immersive experience to listen to this while also reading along! I would recommend this to everyone!

This was a fast-paced audio version of a graphic memoir, and it definitely hit me in several ways. I really enjoyed listening to this, it was better than other audio adaptations of graphic novels that I have listened to, maybe because the style was a better fit. I enjoyed several ideas that the book raised (the journey towards discovering yourself, making your body a home) and the overall audio immersion that this book provided, even though that means that I did not get to enjoy the artwork. The title also fit well with the story, blending perfectly with the cover.

I felt that the memoir fell a bit short in some ways, but that is understandable, as each person has a different story to tell. Nevertheless, this was relatable, inspiring and heartfelt, being a quite nice read especially for the YA age group. It's quite close to a four-star read for me, yet it's not reaching that point.

This book felt hopeful and joyful. The way Theo talks about their gender identity feels authentic and I hope this book can show a positive messages to other people in Theo's situation, because growing up and discovering yourself can be hard and confusing, but knowing you are not on your own is so helpful. The way their family, found and birth, support them through life was magical . They were clearly brought up by amazing parents and have an amazing group of friends around them.

I was genuinely uplifted after listening to this and will definitely buy a physical copy!

I was curious how this would be translated from a graphic novel to an audio book and I wasn't disappointed,

I've read so many books about being non binary. I think I've even cried over all of them. This one hit a different type of affirmation for me. My name and nickname.

The audiobook was beautifully produced. I could picture Theo walking in nature as they told their story, changing from one scene to another. Hearing school chatter in the background and even some snide remarks students made really put me in Theos awkward shoes.

Such a beautiful affirmative book about self love as a non-binary person.

Now to go out and buy the physical book to come back to on days I need a little comfort.

Thank you for a gifted paperback and audiobook copy of this novel, I found myself re-reading the story twice, and then a third time with the hour-long audiobook alongside which is an absolute blessing to just add to the experience of the story! The book is just graphically and visually stunning with beautiful illustrations and gorgeous calligraphy, plus the narration by Roly Botha is phenomenal! I found myself falling in love with every aspect of this book!

I really enjoyed reading/listening about Theo’s life, and their ability to be open about their experiences, and seeing/hearing their flashbacks and characters cards was great. I feel that Theo highlighted a lot of issues throughout this book, which I found myself completely agreeing with, such as the demands from school on uniform and ensuring that each pupil has the same formal wear, which really does affect children and young adults more than those making the rules realise, not every pupil feels comfortable wearing what the school heads deem as “uniform”

Also, there are many times Theo hits the nail on the head with how society and the world desperately tries to label individuals and squeeze them into boxes, and unfortunately with these pressures several people feel like they need to confirm, and as such live an unhappy life doing so. As well as how society and people make assumptions on others just based on the outward appearance, such as hair, make up and clothing, but it also reminds the reader and encourages them that these different outward appearances can really have an impact on one's confidence and self-worth.

This book just highlights the importance of self-love, and feeling at home in one's body
The quotes throughout are wonderful and memorable, the story is amazing and empowering, there is a real sense of personal achievement, confidence and pride radiating from this novel. I love the support and encouragement that Theo is offering throughout the book, reminding the readers that not everyone is on the same journey in life, and that everyone's courses can and will alter with time.

This is a read that I would highly recommend, I found myself smiling and chuckling in many places, and just came away with such a feeling of warmth and giddy feeling. This is just a fantastic novel with everything feeling so perfect, especially with the fact that it makes the reader question themselves, and their behaviour, it really highlights how certain behaviours and words can affect those around us!

I was a bit curious to see how a graphic novel would translate to an audiobook, but it was AMAZING
I loved the little background noises and music a lot and the narration was done perfectly.

I absolutely adore this story and the message of hope it gives, an absolute must read.

I received this audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a beautiful audiobook - not only the narration, but the sound effects as well, which was a nice extra surprise. Good narration really makes or breaks an audiobook and I think the narrators here did an excellent job.

The story itself - not story, as this is the authors real life experiences, but you know what I mean - is a beautiful tale of self acceptance and understanding. I really think many younger people struggling with their identity would benefit from hearing Theo's first hand experiences and the conclusions he's come to within his own journey.

I have the hard copy on order and excited to compare the audio to the illustrations.

An important book that will significantly impact certain people especially. 5/5

This graphic novel honestly felt like a warm hug, something everybody should read. It’s sincere, heartfelt and I think lots of people will find comfort in this author’s words.

I listened to the audiobook and the pace, as well as the background noises inserted (probably to give you the entire experience seeing that it’s a graphic novel) and the narrator were great.
