If you're into coaching, leadership, or consulting, The Solutions Focus is a must-read. This third edition builds on the original with fresh ideas and real-world examples, making the approach both practical and inspiring. The book introduces the OSKAR coaching framework step by step, from phase to phase, which makes it really easy to understand and apply. It is a simple yet powerful tool that helps clients focus on what is working and how to build on it, instead of getting stuck in problem-solving mode.

The authors also explore modern developments like the role of expression, hosting, and how improvisation and co-constructed stories can enhance the coaching process. These updates make the book feel current and relevant to today’s coaching landscape. Plus, it includes new case studies from companies like Nestlé, Kraft, Tate, and Canon, showing how the solutions-focused approach works across different organizational settings. Whether you are working with individuals, teams, or whole organizations, there are plenty of practical insights to take away.

The Solutions Focus is more than just a coaching manual. It is a mindset shift. It encourages looking at what is going well and finding ways to amplify it, rather than dwelling on problems. If you want a book that blends theory with practical tools and real-world examples, this is it.

This is the most in depth book on the solutions focus that I have come across. It gives a lot of information, tips and case studies on how to use the approach.
It also looks at tools and then the models application in coaching - covering individual, teams and the organisation.

I was a recent consultant at a company that embraced solution-focused rather than problem-focused ideology. They went to far and the approach resulted in many safety issues and other problems that did not have to be had they taken a more balanced approach. After reading the first one-third of this book, I realized I could not review it without bias as a result of that experience. Thank you for sharing the book with me. I recognize my bias and won't be posting a review of this book. I'm certain this book is helpful to many since it well-written and thoughtful.
