As a fan of the first book in this series, this sequel didn’t quite hit the spot and I I felt was lacking that similar charm and humour of the first book. The humour didn’t resonate with me, I often found the pacing to be slow in certain parts and almost felt certain moments were there as a ‘gap filler’. I’m still going to continue with this series but definitely wasn’t my favourite. A solid 3 star ⭐️

I don’t think I was in the right mood for this when I picked it up.
It fell a bit flat for me, which is annoying as I liked Reggie in book 1.

Thank you so much for letting me review this book. Sadly it was not for me, I will try and revisit this in future.

Obsessed!! I was gripped the entirety of this book and dare I even say I may love it more than book one??

It was cute, it was funny, and I loved it from start to finish.

Thank you for the arc!!

This was such a delightful, quirky read. The story follows Amelia Collins, a successful accountant who's tired of her family's constant questions about her non-existing dating life. When another wedding invitation arrives, she decides to find someone, anyone, to post as her date. Enter Reginald Cleaves - eccentric, rude and a bit of a fashion disaster, but also irresistibly charming and as it turns out, a centuries-old vampire!

What I loved most was the hilarious dynamic between Amelia and Reggie. Their fake dating setup leads to genuine chemistry, and their banter had me laughing out loud. The blend of humour, romance and supernatural elements made for a fun and engaging read, and the snowed-in cabin scene had me swooning!

Thank you to the publisher for sending me a copy of this book. After reading other works from Jenna Levine I have come to the conclusion that her writing style is just not for me.

Genre: Romance
Tropes: Vampires, Daul POV, Fake Dating, One Bed, Forced Proximity, Protective MMC

‘I look forward to faking it with you.’

‘Dating her and then losing her might break what’s left of my heart.’

Amelia is excelling at her accountant career, one thing she’s not excelling at that though is dating! With her family constantly pestering her & another family wedding coming up Amelia has an idea. A classic style fake dating scheme with a twist… the twist being her vampire plus one.

This is my second read by Jenna Levine and I have to say this book is much improved from her previous. It’s great to see an author’s writing style develop throughout their books. It was also nice that this book involves some cast members we already knew from the first book in this series.

This story is a fun, easy read. I actually wasn’t a big fan of Reggie in the first book but I’m converted 😂 He’s actually really sweet. It’s great to see a different side to him. This book is also a bit spicer than the first one, which was a welcome treat.
Another thing I really liked was the journal formatting at the start of chapters, it was a fun way to get to know Reggie more.

Thank you to Jenna Levine, Random House UK & NetGalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this sequel, at first the characters seemed a bit two dimensional so I'm glad we had more insight. The story was light and fun and everything I wanted from the book.

3/5 stars! Jenna's books are always hit or miss for me. She writes humerous contemporary romances with a paranormal twist. At times, however, she seems to lean too far into the humor, which has made me roll my eyes and skip entire dialogues to get back to the point of the story. Sadly, that's how this book went for me. The diary was great. Everything else was meh.

I’m sorry but this is not going to be a long review, full of actual critique and other “but”s I usually have. I had way too much fun reading it, I gave it 5 stars and I DEMAND more books with these characters because they are just… awesome!

‘My vampire Plus-One” is as good, if not better than “My roommate is a vampire” and I am OBSESSED with this book! The writing was fun and captivating, the plot entertaining and the romance very cutsie, very demure (until certain point obviously) and slow-burning in the best freaking way! I just could not get enough of Reggie and Amelia and their relationship! This book was just such a perfect friends to lovers with a fake dating scheme it was just….chef’s kiss! Even the miscommunication trope was used as a proper plot device and not as a random last minute reason to give a book extra 50 pages! These two COMMUNICATE for flying spaghetti monster’s sake! It’s just such a pleasure to watch a relationship between two adults ( who behave like adults!) develop in a natural way. And OMG the spice! Once they decided to.. ya know, boom shaka-laka their way through a snowstorm and all that went down (wink wink) after was making me giggle and kick my feet like a teenager.

Oh man, this book was just such a fun ride and I just can’t WAIT to read the next book in the series that’s coming out at the end of September! I don’t know how I’ll survive till then (lollies from a cancer fighter) but I just know the new book is going to be a banger.

What starts as a fake date to dodge nosy family questions turns into something much more in this fun, vampire-infused rom-com. Amelia just wants an annoying plus-one for a wedding, and Reggie—a grumpy, centuries-old vampire with questionable fashion sense—seems like the perfect (and most irritating) choice.

But as their act turns into real sparks, Amelia realizes there’s more to Reggie than his sharp tongue (or fangs). Full of witty banter, unexpected tenderness, and plenty of charm, this is a perfect read for fans of fake dating, grumpy/sunshine dynamics, and supernatural romance!

Tropes:

Fake Dating
- Forced Proximity (snowed in)
- Strangers to Friends to Lovers
- Slow Burn
- Quirky Vampire MMC x Workaholic Human FMC

Such a funny and lighthearted read! This pulled me out of a week’s worth of slump. Reginald and Amelia had the most fun and lighthearted banter, I adored how goofy and silly this was I wasn’t expecting this after the first book which was funny but also had its deep moments, due to how behind with the times Frederick was. I adored Reginald’s loveable golden retriever energy, I loved how Amelia did not take him seriously when he said he was a vampire.. All in all this was a solid romcom read with a paranormal twist!

Just like the first book, this was a very fun read. I love the mix of traditional rom com vibes with the fantasy elements mixed into it. I'm always a fan of the fake dating trope, so was thrilled to have that in here. Overall, this was a cheesy, slightly steamy, easy read that is perfect for anyone looking for a good time read, perhaps between bigger more intense books.

Having read the first book, I was excited to get the next instalment featuring Reginald. I enjoyed reading this. It’s easy to digest and just fun to follow the characters as they go up against the ridiculous Collective which consists of a bunch of vampires with a vendetta against Reginald. I laughed at how taxes were woven into the story. It’s a silly and fun read. If you’re looking for a literary masterpiece though, this isn’t for you.

I read the first book and found it a cute cheesy read. I really enjoyed it and so was thrilled when I saw that Reggie had his own book. 🧛

I love a fake dating book so was delighted to read this. I really enjoyed this book and am now so excited for the next book in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a copy. I am giving my opiniosn voluntarily.

I haven't read the first book but it isn't really necessary, in my opinion.

The story centres around Amelia, an accountant, who needs a date to a family wedding. She meets Reggie and they soon decide to fake date.

I mostly enjoyed Amelia and Reggie's relationship and was rooting for them from the beginning. I did not like that Amelia's dietary needs weren't addressed directly with her family in the book. I was hoping for a scene where Reggie stood up for her and tried to make her family see that her diet should be catered for. Overall, the story was fun but Reggie and Amelia fell in love a bit too quickly. I would have liked to know more about Reggie's life as a vampire in the last couple of centuries.

I was pleasantly surprised.

What I appreciate most about this book is that it moves away from the brooding, morally bankrupt vampire trope that is so saturated within modern media. Instead we meet, Reginald, an eclectic, prank- endorsing vampire who loves history and has an ostentatious fashion style. He is honest and open to communication and Ironically enough, a completely ‘sunshine’ character.

Our female main character, Amelia, is an accountant who loves her job and taxes. She spends her life dodging questions about her (nonexistent) relationships and attending weddings alone. Wary of her family’s judgment, Amelia enlists Reggie’s help to start a fake-dating relationship to get through her cousins’s wedding.

While the pace of the book was a bit slow for the first 20%, it really started to pick up when Amelia and Reggie started fake-dating. The writing was tongue-in-cheek, funny and at times very sincere. I loved the fact that the characters were so consistent and grounded to who they were. The MMC is a calm, funny guy - he’s not about to start murdering all the vampires chasing him (because yes, there is a sub-plot where Reggie is being accused and hunted for alleged arson 150 years ago).

In short, this is a sweet, highly unserious book and I really enjoyed reading it!

I’m so glad I gave this series another shot and read this companion/sequel to My Roommate is a Vampire, which I didn’t enjoy that much. This is silly and goofy and I loved Reginald and Amelia together. It’s very lighthearted and honestly I’m not sure why I ended up enjoying this one so much more than the first; maybe because Reginald doesn’t spontaneously generate fruit as a power?? Whatever the case, I’m glad I persevered, and I hope there’ll be another book in this world!

Fake dating + Paranormal Romance!? Sign me all the way up!

I haven’t read the first book in the series but it didn’t matter. I love a grumpyxsunshine golden good time X uptight tops and Reginald and Amelia delivered! It’s especially refreshing that the FMC was the serious one for once.

Cute, heart warming and funny. This was the perfect sequel to My Roomate is a Vampire.

I really enjoyed this one. Amelia is a great FMC, hadworking and put upon by her family for being single and so asks Reggie to be her fake date.

What follows is a fun and sweet story as their relationship goes from fake to real feelings.

Veggie is such an awesome character. I LOVED his original fashion sense and his bullet journaling. They made for such a sweet character.

I found the use of text messages between the characters and the journal entries a fun way to develop the story.

Great characters, and a fun sweet read.
