I was so pumped to read Sunlight as an ARC after falling in love with Haven River Ranch in Crossroads.
This story follows Jax (the younger Haven brother) and Sasha (the new Assistant Manager and out of towner).
I went into this one pretty blind because I’ve come to trust whatever Devney puts out. You can always count on her characters to have a ton of emotional depth and for her stories to make you feel the whole spectrum of emotions.
I really enjoyed coming back to Montana at Haven River Ranch in this story and I look forward to any future installments.

UGH, I want to stay in Haven River Ranch forever. One of my favorite things about Devney Perry's writing is that she doesn't mess around, she gets right to the point & gives the people what they want - and this was no exception.
small town / cowboy romance, accidental pregnancy, forced proximity, grumpy/grumpy? ("I'm grumpy" "Me too" "wanna be grumpy together?")
Thanks to this book, I have come to the realization that I actually do enjoy the accidental pregnancy trope, when done like this. Where it's a one night stand and they don't just get together out of obligation, but because as they prepare for the baby they genuinely fall for each other. It's so much more believable and satisfying

I swear Devney doesn’t miss. This series has started off so good! Jax and Sasha’s story has been my favorite so far. Excited to see what else is in store for this series!

“Tell me a lie”
“I hate Montana”
“Tell me a secret”
“I love you”
Devney has blown my mind since I discovered her back in 2022. So when I finished Crossroads it didn’t surprise me how much I loved Haven River Ranch and all its characters.
Jax caught my eye from the very start, and I knew I needed his book. Devney didn’t disappoint with this one. I know accidental pregnancy is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I personally love it and she absolutely smashed it!
This book was precious, their chemistry was through the roof. Can we talk about their adorable meet cute? Their banter?! *chef kiss* One element I absolutely adored? Their little game of tell me a secret/lie! It was soo cute and was the perfect conduit for them to know each other.
Sasha, has to be one of my favourites fmc, Devney has written so far. Loved her character growth, and how she didn’t let her past control her future. Jax was incredible, our dashing cowboy with a heart of gold. I really appreciate how patient he was with her and how he helped her overcome those walls she had.
Definitely read this one if you love:
✨Small town romance
✨Cowboy romance
✨Accidental pregnancy
✨Workplace romance
✨Forced proximity
Thank you Devney Perry, VPN and NetGalley for the ARC!

Part of me wanted to wait until my physical copy got here, but I felt like I was gatekeeping an amazing new release. Sunlight by Devney Perry is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series. Thank you so much @valentine_pr_ for allowing me to read it early!
Release Date: October 15, 2024.
To avoid spoilers this book takes place years after Crossroads. We are following Jax and a worker being brought on to work at the hotel, Sasha. They have the most adorable meet cute until she realizes he’s going to be her boss. Can they keep this boss/worker relationship going or will they not be able to keep their hands off of each other causing a whole slew of other problems for themselves?
❤️Review❤️
I loved Crossroads, but I think I loved this one even more. The small town vibes were definitely vibing. I find this community to be so interesting to get to know. I can vividly picture what it must look like and how it functions without ever stepping foot in Montana. It’s not a trope I usually love, accidental pregnancy, but it was definitely well thought out and written well. I believed their story and their chemistry. I’m sure you aren’t surprised to find out that I sobbed like a baby during this book. As much as I don’t love accidental pregnancy in books, there was something so beautiful about watching their relationship with each other grow and watching them become parents. It brought their characters to another level. I appreciated getting snippets of Indya and West from the first book. Getting to see what their life is like now in the background melted my heart. I absolutely can’t wait to see where it goes next!
5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have you ever been to Montana? Is it as gorgeous as this book cover leads me to believe?

4.5/5
Sunlight is book two in the Haven River Ranch Series by Devney Perry. It picks up mostly where the reader was left at the end of Crossroads, with some background on how Sasha and Jax meet. This story actually has a very fun and sweet “meet cute” and made me giggle through the whole thing. However, they go through a push and pull in their relationship until one night changes everything.
Surprise pregnancy is one of my favorite tropes because I like watching the main characters navigate it, whether together from the beginning, like this story or years down the line. For this story, I loved seeing how independent Sasha learned how to trust and rely on Jax, while also watching Jax move out of his “playboy” phase. Jax definitely falls first and falls hard, however I really liked how he still gave Sasha her space to process what happened. But also not too much space in the sense that he let her know that he was there for her no matter what.
This was a quick, heartfelt, and fun contemporary romance read. Read if you like: surprise pregnancy, he falls first, small town romance

I was super lucky and received an advanced copy of this!! Just when I think she can’t top the previous book, she blows me away. I loved their relationship, it was so back and forth mostly her. I also spent entirely too much of my time imagining who Eddie was. I felt so bad for Jax because of the way Lily treated him and how much that hurt him even as an adult. I just wanted her to admit she was wrong. I also craved a scene between her and Curtis like no other. Haha. Needless to say I was not disappointed, it was such a good book and I just don’t know what to do with myself now.

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read and review Sunlight with an ARC. This one really surprised me and exceeded my expectations. I loved the originality of Crossroads and this one didn’t disappoint either. I was wary of the FMC for a majority of the book but she won me over in the end. I loved the MMC even though he was flawed. I enjoyed the accidental pregnancy trope here as it hooked me into the story and I love how it all came together in the end, I even got emotional at the love confessions. For such short books, Sunlight and Crossroads really pack in the depth and originality.

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4.75)
SPICE: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Sunlight is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series.
After reading Crossroads I knew I was going to have to read book two. And Sunlight was even better.
Sunlight occurs several years after Crossroads, so we get to meet a more mature, older Jax. He decides to intervene and help a stranger who is fighting with the grocery store owner about borrowing a shopping cart to take her groceries home. But what he doesn’t expect is to be intrigued by this stranger who won’t give him her name. But the following day he finds it out quickly, as she’s the new employee there to help run the family business while is sister-in-law is out on maternity leave. But that does nothing to remove Jax interest.
Sasha moved to Montana because it was a job she couldn’t turn down. She doesn’t expect to be there long term and it’s obvious she is hiding something. But Sasha finally gives in to have one night of fun with the handsome Jax, hoping they can forget about it the next day. But weeks later she finds herself pregnant.
I throughly enjoyed watching Sasha and Jax’s relationship build slowly, one truth and lie at a time. IYKYK. Devney did a great job give us a slow burn while also building a great foundation for them as well. I was so happy to finally get Sasha’s back story as it made everything about her personality make so much more sense. And I loved watching Jax become a respectable adult who goes after what he wants!
I really hope we get a book 3! I’m not ready for the series to end!
Thank you Valentine PR and Devney Perry for the gifted ARC!
Tropes:

🩷 Forced Proximity

🩷 Cowboy Romance

Anything Devney Perry writes is a favourite. As the second book of the Haven River Ranch it was lovely to see the characters from the first book appear in this one. The way the MMC loved and fought for the FMC was so well written. They weren't all over each other and they gave each other space and time to really get to know where the relationship was going. I am not normally a fan of unexpected pregnancies in a book but it became secondary to the love that the main characters were building.
Each book in Devney's series always comes with new and interesting characters while maintaining the integrity of the series itself.
Again another great book.

4.5⭐️ Sasha was skittish like a wild horse and Jax was all kindness and patience. This book was a slow build for me with Sasha being so guarded it felt like we were taking one step forward and three steps back. But once the momentum picked up I couldn’t put it down.
I really liked the tell me a lie, tell me a secret and how the slowly deepened their connection.
After reading Crossroads I already felt a lot for Jax. This was just another beautiful chapter in Haven Ranch. I want more.
I was given and ARC of this book and all my opinions are my own.

4.5⭐️ thank you Devney Perry, Valentine PR and Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This one melts the heart. The meet cute between these two characters
Set several years the events of Crossroads (West x Indya's story), so you definitely see a more mature Jax, and learn more about his upbringing and what it was like for him. He was such a sweetheart, and he really stood up when he learnt he was going to be a dad.
Sasha, I will admit, I had mixed feelings. I understand her reasonings for wanting to keep a distance from everyone. It was meant to be temporary. She had to out herself, more especially her little brother first.
I loved the progression of Sasha though. She went from, Oh they're my eployers/ employees, he's my boss to they're my family.
I sort of resonated with Curtis x Lily... divorced, but in some ways still loved it each other. My grandparents were very similar, divorced but grandad would go round my nanas house. I asked her once why after he died. She said, couldn't live with him, couldn't love without him.

Loved the writing of this, how Devney wrote the small time jumps but in a subtle way. How she writes about Montana just makes me want to visit and fall in love.
Only reason for the missing half star, I wished Sasha was open with Jax. Told him about her brother, let him in and trust him.

Sunlight is book 2 in the Haven River Ranch series, and this is another solid cowboy romance from Devney. Sunlight follows Jax and Sasha, and a lot of the story centers around family, which I love.
What I liked:
- I don’t mind the unexpected pregnancy trope, and I’ve always found that Devney Perry does this trope really well. She tackles this trope in a delicate yet realistic way.
- The found family aspect in this book is the standout to me. It gave me all the feels.
- Sasha is a complex FMC, which I appreciated and seemed like the perfect match for Jax.
- And ooh boy. Jax. 😮💨 One of the swooniest cowboy there ever was.
Huge thanks to Valentine PR for the ARC!

I know I say this every time I read a Devney Perry book, but I seriously don’t understand how each of her books just get better and better.
I absolutely fell in love with Crossroads when I read it earlier this year and after finishing it I immediately knew I needed more from the Haven River Ranch. Mother provided with this one.
Jax is the perfect cowboy, who is funny, has the carefree swagger down and has a sexy smirk that turns any head. And Sasha at first introduction seems like an absolute riot, then you get a deeper look at her life and can only feel empathy for how hard she is trying to pull it all together.
They are a perfect couple and everything about this book was perfect. So much so that the only issue I had with it was that it wasn’t long enough!
I know that accidental pregnancy is not for everyone, but trust me when I say that Devney Perry is the absolute expert at writing it and you cannot help but love the trope when she writes it!
What you expect from this book:
* accidental pregnancy
* He’s her boss
* Forced proximity
* Small town/ ranch romance
* Cowboy romance
* Workplace romance
* No third act breakup!!!

This one fell flat for me and I’m a bit bummed about that!! I loved the first book so I was very excited for this one! I really liked Jax’s character but I could not enjoy Sasha. She was a pain in the ass for most of the book. 😩 and I never did feel the connection between the two.
Will forever and ever be a stan of Devney, just maybe not this book!

I am so loving this series. I really enjoyed the first book and when I saw Jax’s story would be an accidental pregnancy, I was ecstatic. As soon as I got the email to download the ARC, I ate this book up so fast. I absolutely loved their meet-cute. I loved their banter and felt they had great chemistry. Jax steps up immediately for Sasha even though they are both terrified of becoming parents. I absolutely swooned whenever Jax called the baby “My Josephine”. Sasha was fiercely loyal to Jax and had his back with his feelings for Lily. Which I 100% agree on because that whole ordeal was really messed up. I loved the mystery bit behind Eddie and the ending was perfect for all of them. I really hope we get a book for Eddie in the future because he totally deserves it.

Book review ☀️
Devney brought us back to Haven River Ranch for Jax & Sasha’s story and I’m in love 🥺
The cowboy playboy and the new girl in town working on his ranch? SIGN ME UP.
Nothing beats the banter in Devney books and this one was no different. I especially lived for their sweet “tell me a secret” & “tell me a lie” moments 🫠
One thing you always get in a Devney book is a backstory and thank god for that because we get to learn more about Jax’s mommy issues & Sasha’s sad family trauma that explains sooo much about her.
I can’t wait for the rest of you to eat this book the heck up— you for sure will if you’re down with the accidental pregnancy trope 😉 I loved it so much 🫶🏼

Devney Perry you have done it again! Creating another masterpiece that has stole my heart!
Sunlight was everything I was hoping for when reading this perfect book. I fell in love with this series immediately after reading Crossroads. This book just made me love this series more!
Jax Haven.... This man stole my heart from the start he was absolutely perfect! Sasha was perfect as well and the 2 characters together was just everything and what made the book so perfect. It's a book I will recommend to everyone! I did not want to put this book down.

What an absolute delight this book was !!! I loved it from the core of my heart and I didn't want this book to ever finish. Sasha and Jax have my heart!!
I was really interested in Jax while reading Crossroads and here we are now. Sunlight is set seven years after Crossroads and we see a responsible Jax who is amazing and charming.
Jax and Sasha have a very cute meet but unfortunately Sasha backs out before anything goes further when she gets to know Jax full name. For months she keep him on arms length while working on his family ranch. But one night when her guard is down and things go further between them which results into a surprise pregnancy. I love this trope and througly enjoyed their progress.
Devney sure knows how to knit a story and keep you hooked ! Definitely a must read!

“Keep her, all right?”
“That’s my plan.”
Let me start by saying, no shopping cart has been damaged during the making of this book.
Also, Jax and I share the same favorite time of the day. Feels important I should share.
Now… I’ve read a total of 16 books, 1 novella and 1 short story written by Devney Perry. I’m not done. I’m far from being done. But this is one of those that will forever have a place in my mind. A place I can go and reminisce about. A place I can visit when I miss Jax and Sasha something fierce.
And boy oh boy… Every time I thought the story would unfold a certain way, Jax and Sasha went the opposite direction. It was absolutely gorgeous. It was pulchritudinous [look at this fancy word I learned today 😜 means beautiful, fyi. No, don’t ask me to pronounce it… I learned it by reading]
I want to also note that the last chapters were heaven on a page. But, honestly, all of them were. There isn’t a single word, line, page I would change in this book. There’s not a single thing I wouldn’t do for these two… my dear friends. That’s how I felt while reading their story. Like they were my closest friends. My secret to keep. My lie to unravel.
Thank you so much for this ARC. 🥹
