*blows raspberries* Did I read a different book than others? Did I just read this at the wrong time and that’s why I didn’t vibe with it while everyone else has given this rave reviews? Well… let’s just say this is one of my least fave DP books (which makes me sad cause I genuinely love her books and I’m super sad I didn’t like this)

I just did not connect with this book. I didn’t connect with either of the MC’s - Jax wasn’t swoony for me and Sasha needed therapy and I felt like she was coddled too much.

The mystery behind Sasha’s background just frustrated me more than kept me intrigued (and the letters to Eddie was too similar to the voicemail “mystery” of book one). And the secret of who Eddie was? Unimpressed

My favorite part of accidental pregnancy romances are “watching” the couple come together over the pregnancy and I just didn’t feel it in this. The moments of pregnancy we got felt half done.

(The audiobook is available free with a KU subscription- I wasn’t a fan of Stephen’s narration and think it is where my disconnect with Ajax lies. I feel like the character was written sweeter, but Stephen added a lot of cockiness which gave me bleh feelings)

Final Rating: 3⭐️, 2.5🌶️

One of my favorites from Ms. Perry, we pick up a few months after the conclusion of Crossroads. I was interested to see where we would go with Jax. Based on what we have seen of him, he is in no place to settle down. I settled in with the intent to read a chapter or two….I should know better.

From the wrestling of the shopping cart, I was hooked. A little intrigue and mystery follows the story, peaking even more of my interest. While the interest is there, a distraction by the name of Jax Haven might just be too much for the goals and life our leading lady has mapped out.

I am ready for what is to come next.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Wow!! I couldn’t put this down and stayed up past my bedtime to finish it. Jax is the town flirt in a small town, Sasha is the new girl that will be running the resort at his ranch while his sister in law is on maternity leave. There trauma in her past that keeps her for making close relationships. Jax is having none of that, he’s set on breaking down her walls and there are a bunch of surprises along the way. My heart hurt for everything Sasha went through and I loved watching Jax bring her back to life! This is the epitome of everything a small town romance should be!!

I've got a bone to pick with you, Devney. You don't always have to make me cry, you know?! 😭😂 Are all the books in this series going to make me bawl?? Anyway, I started this book this morning and I just couldn't put it down. It's phenomenal, just like the first one. If you like accidental pregnancy, you'll love this book and if you don't like accidental pregnancy, you'll still love this book, I promise you. These characters are real and raw and just so well done! Congrats and yet another amazing book, Devney!

Also, I don't have favourite quotes because I just couldn't pause my reading long enough to highlight anything lol. But I will say, anytime Jax said "My Josephine", I MELTED.

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC of Sunlight by Devney Perry

I loved being back in Haven River Ranch. Can I just move there please? I was so excited to read Jax's story!

This one takes place many years after Crossroads. Jax & Sasha met at a grocery store but then she got spooked and ran when she figured out he was kinda like her new boss. She avoided him for a while but then one night she let her guard down and spent the night in his bed. She went back to avoiding him but 6 weeks later she got a surprise... she was pregnant with his baby.

Jax.... I think I love him. He was a playboy but something about Sasha made him change his ways. He is a swoony book boyfriend. They had some serious chemistry but Sasha had her walls way up and he had to work really hard to get them down. But he was so patient with her. It was definitely a slow burn. They got to know each other by playing a little game together... "tell me a secret" or "tell me a lie". It was so sweet. 🥰 I loved the added suspense of Eddie! All of that wrapping up at the end really made me tear up. This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions. I loved seeing West & Indya and how their life was now. Everything about this book was just so, so good.

What to expect:
🤠Cowboy Romance
🤰🏼Accidental Pregnancy
🐴Workplace Romance
🏠Forced Proximity
❤️‍🔥Reformed playboy
😏He's her boss

This one releases on October 15! Thank you Devney Perry, NetGalley, & Valentine PR for this eARC. This is my honest review.

Listen as soon as I found out Jax was going to have a book, I was excited. But unfortunately this one wasn’t my favorite. I felt like something was missing. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Jax & Sasha. There were moments I did like. There were moments that had me emotional. I did like that it was fast paced. If you like small town romances, accidental pregnancy and forced proximity, this one’s for you.

Thank you Valentine PR for this arc.

4.5 I love this series! Again, we get an emotional and beautiful story.

Jax and Sasha meet in an unusual way. It had me laughing out loud. I loved their instant chemistry and back and forth exchanges. That changed when Sasha realized Jax was her new boss. Eventually, they give in to the tension and Sasha gets pregnant. I know accidental pregnancy isn’t always a fave, but Devney does it so well!

Sasha lost her parents at 18 and doesn’t trust people easily. She is keeping part of her life a secret. I loved this aspect of the book, with the mystery letters. It really tugged on my heart strings when everything came out.

Jax may have had a playboy reputation, but there was no doubt how he felt about Sasha and the baby. He was so sure and steady. Staying strong and calm during Sasha’s moments of unease and anxiety. I loved watching them both grow and mature together. Piecing together a family for Sasha and baby Josephine.

I'm quite simply obsessed. One of my new favorite Devney Perry books.
Happy Release Day! This is one of my favorite books l've read in 2024. Everything you love about a Devney Perry book, you get here. Idyllic small town in Montana, banter, spice, a secret, and a cowboy. What more could you want? Sasha and Jax have a meet cute at a grocery store, and while the connection is there, she turns him down. Come to find out, she turned him down because she is the newest employee at the Haven River Ranch.
The chemistry is still there, and the night of the employee post holiday party they cross the line. A couple weeks later... Sasha realizes she's pregnant with his baby *
This book was so sweet and perfect. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, crossroads, so it was really fun getting to see all the characters again. Sasha and Jax were something special. Jax was wounded, but so caring and protective of Sasha and the baby. Sasha has a secret from her past, and it creates suspense learning about it in pieces which I really enjoyed because it got me hooked QUICK! I absolutely loved this book!!

I loved Jax and Sasha's story. It was beautifully written and wonderful. Jax and Sasha had amazing chemistry. The way that Jax supported her had me swooning. Jax is the most supportive and caring man. He loved his friends and family so hard.

My heart ached for Sasha in parts of this book. I loved watching her character grow and learning about the reasons why she ended up at Haven River Ranch.

It was wonderful seeing West and Indie. I can't wait to read book 3!

Thank you so much to Montlake, Valentine PR and Devney Perry for the ARC.

Firstly a big thank you to @devneyperry & @valentine_pr_ for my arc, I'm beyond grateful 🫶🏻 OMG I ate this up in a matter of hours I couldn't put it down! I loved how it picked up after Crossroads & OMG the way Jax & Sasha met had me chuckling 🤭 He's absolutely everything like the whole package - what a cowboy 🤠🥵 loved how protective, possessive and carefree he is even after his own heartache 🥺 Sasha - what a babe! She's so strong 🥹 her letters!! I'm so glad she allows herself some happiness with Jax! I love a surprise pregnancy trope, throw in boss x employee & forced proximity and I'm SOLD!! This was written to perfection 🫶🏻 I loved watching Jax & Sasha's relationship grow throughout, whilst navigating their new journey together! It was the absolute sweetest & put me through all the emotions 🥰 the spice was fab as always 🔥 I adored the small town vibes and could really visualise the beauty of the ranch! The epilogue was everything & I would most definitely recommend reading this duo I'm so sad it's over!! It will not disappoint!!

Sunlight was one of my most anticipated reads of this Fall and it did not disappoint! I think I say this every time Devney releases a new book, but this is definitely my new favorite from her.

Sasha and Jax have a really fun meet cute with great banter and chemistry. She shuts things down quickly, though, when she realizes he's her boss. There's still sparks between them even when she tries to keep it professional. So it isn't surprising their feelings and attraction come to the surface. After that night their lives got more complicated and I couldn't wait to see how they figured out their future. Devney always does a fantastic job with the character and relationship development in her books. It was so easy to love both Sasha and Jax. I could not wait for them to get their HEA, but at the same time I didn't want their story to end.

This is a definite 5 star read and I cannot recommend it and the Haven River Ranch series enough!

Devney Perry did it again. I’m starting to think that she puts something into her books, I binge every single one of them way too fast. I read this book in two sittings. I could NOT put this book down.

Sunlight is such a beautiful accidental pregnancy story. I loved being back in the world of Haven River Ranch. When I read Crossroads I couldn’t wait to learn more about Jax. Jax is such a sweet golden retriever with a broken past. Sasha is sweet but closed off and guarded.
Jax is determined to break down the walls so that she will let him in. He is passionate and patient with Sasha, but he knows when to push her too.

The chemistry, banter, tension, and growth were PERFECT. I already want to dive in and reread this one, I finished it 10 hours ago. This easily became one of my favorite books from Devney.

Devney has DONE IT AGAIN. She’s the queen of accidental pregnancies. and she’s the queen of my bookshelves.

There is probably nothing that she’s going to write that I’m not guaranteed to love, so it should come as no surprise that I am absolutely SUNK over Jax & Sasha. The way that I ATE this book UP. Literally, one sitting. Boom.

The way that they developed. Ugh. LOVE forever. Why is it over?!

This is so much more than a cowboy romance, it’s a heartwarming story of healing, finding forgiveness, family, and love while navigating the unexpected. It’s also a lesson in how to write surprise pregnancy because this was done to perfection, no notes. My eyes leaked multiple times while reading this heartfelt instalment to the Haven River Ranch series.

While being lighthearted and witty, it was beautifully balanced with the deeper emotional elements and signature Devney mystery. She has this incredible ability to transport you right there to Haven River Ranch with her writing and I was captivated right from the start and barely came up for air until that last page.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: small town, he’s a cowboy, surprise pregnancy, forced proximity, workplace, mystery.

I love how this picked up from the epilogue of Crossroads, giving us a peek into their lives with kids and giving our playboy Jax time to be ready for his happily ever after. He’s the golden retriever of cowboys and you can’t help but instantly like him. I felt like I was constantly smiling like a loon at my kindle with him and his antics.

Jax + Sasha’s meet cute was a highlight for me, it had me giggling and the instant banter and chemistry between them was undeniable. While Jax knows he wants her, Sasha is in denial and I loved watching her try to resist him at every turn. When things get serious with a surprise pregnancy, they came together to navigate it as a team and I loved how this played out in such a relatable and realistic way. Through their game of secrets + lies, they develop a deeper friendship which progressed so naturally from there and I loved every moment.

I adored how steadfast Jax was in his feelings for her, but gave her the patience and safe space to allow her catch up and realise what he already knew, that what they had was special. He knew how and when to give her the push she needed and I loved the way she softened to him, let down her walls and allowed herself to be happy and accept what he was offering her.

I am completely hooked on this series, because while you’re focused on Jax + Sasha here, Devney has this way of introducing side characters who instantly intrigue you and leave you wanting the next book right away.

Oh my goodness. I just loved Sasha and Jax. They were such a cute couple. I loved watching they fall in love while getting ready for the baby.

Sasha and Jax couldn’t have been any more different. But they manage to make it work. And their chemistry was so much fun. Then add in the banter, chef kiss!

Then waiting to learn about Sasha’s past had me in a chock hold. I had to know her secret. I had came up with so many option before I got to what her secret was.

This was just over all perfect! I could reread it again.

I was so excited to be back in Haven River Ranch. I loved their meet cute. Sasha moves to Montana to take a job as the manager at Haven River Ranch and runs into Jax at the grocery store, where she realizes he’s her sort of boss. Their chemistry was undeniable, Jax was a goner for Sasha and I loved to see it. He was sweet and patient with her while also being persistent in pursuing her. They navigated the pregnancy so well. I loved seeing Jax slowly break down Sasha’s walls. They were perfect together!

Crossroads quickly rose to the top of my favorite books by Devney, and now after finishing Sunlight, this series has cemented itself as an all-time favorite. There is something really just so beautiful about these two stories and the emotion they invoke while simultaneously being the perfect small town romance vibes.

I adored Jax + Sasha, from quite literally their first interaction. Sasha had a fortress built around her heart and lived inside these walls to protect herself and let me tell you, Jax came ready to smash through them. They were exactly what the other needed, and there were so many moments that made my heart just melt. Do you know when you go to chuckle but it comes out as a sob? Yeah that happened a few times during this book. I still cannot get over the nicknames!!!! Darlin’!!!! Probably a personal opinion but GAH this one gets me. The audio was phenomenal, Stephen Dexter was the perfect Jax and Ava nailed Sasha’s reserved side but also her joyous moments. The audio is free with a KU membership too!!! While this story truly shined on its own, it almost felt like an epilogue to the series as a whole, and if you’re at all familiar with Devney’s books, she can SLAY an epilogue. The closure we got in so many aspects for the Havens and for Sasha herself, I was just a puddle of happy tears.

Please, if you have not yet read this series, I highly recommend you stop what you’re doing and immediately dive in. These books genuinely mean so much to me.

✨Book Review: Sunlight✨
Author: Devney Perry

Somehow Devney Perry has done it again. Not only does she have me loving and devouring these small town, cowboy romances. But here I am giving 5 stars to a book with my least favorite trope. Somehow Devney Perry got me to read a book with accidental pregnancy. In under 24 hours. And I absolutely loved it.

It’s officially official. If Devney Perry writes it, I’m going to read it (and love it).

“I’ve got you. When it comes to the baby and life and all things. I’ve got you.”

I loved meeting Jax during Crossroads and I was so excited knowing that he was the next one to get his story. I loved Sasha and Jax and their dynamic so much. Being along for the ride while they fell in love with each other (and their baby to be) was magical. They had such amazing chemistry throughout the entire book.

“Tell me a lie.”
“I hate Montana.”
A grin tugged at my mouth. “Mission accomplished.”
“Now a secret,” she murmured, still breathing hard. “Tell me to tell you a secret.”
“Tell me a secret.”
“I love you.”

If you are a fan of the following tropes, this book is definitely for you.

✨ accidental pregnancy
✨ small town, cowboy
✨ forced proximity
✨ banter
✨ found family

A very special thank you from the author, Montlake publishing, and Valentine PR for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The hero was so swoony. He made this book to be honest. I wish the heroine wasn’t so closed off, she was almost bland.
