Every book I read by Devney Perry gets better and better. Every book is just packed full of emotion and it keeps me coming back for more every time. I adore her writing so much. Sunlight is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series and it was an absolute win for me. I LOVED the first book, Crossroads, so much. It was the first book of 2024 that made me cry and this one kept with that trend.
This is the story of Jax and Sasha. They are both in places where they have to overcome their own emotional baggage to be able to move on with each other. Jax is the playboy cowboy that doesn't take anything seriously. He's always down for a good time, not a long time. However, below the surface he is a broken little boy who longs for love and comfort and stability.
Sasha is strong and steps up for herself when she needed to. She has a deep longing for family and everything it stands for because she was so young when she lost hers. She was attracted to the ranch because of her connection to family and what it stands for.
Jax and Sasha have instant chemistry. They definitely burned very hot, very fast. When she realizes that he is one of her bosses, she tamps it down and refuses to go there again. She makes every effort to push him away and stop this attraction that they have together. Jax is very determined, He doesn't let the ice queen deter him at all. He keeps trying to get her attention. He is definitely steadfast and loyal to his commitment to her.
Then, they get a positive pregnancy test. That definitely puts a new spin on the whole situation. The journey wasn't easy, but Jax was so in love with this woman that he didn't let anything get in his way. The banter and the dynamic between the two was amazing. My favorite part of the book was Jax as a DADDY....SWOON!!! Absolutely LOVED!
Thank you Devney Perry and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read and review this advanced copy.

This series is just 🥹🥹🥹. All the feels. Both of the Haven River Ranch books have made me cry and I’m in love.
💛 Accidental pregnancy
💛 Cowboy / ranch setting
💛 Workplace romance
💛 Small town
💛 Dislike to love
💛 Found family
💛 Reformed playboy
I am such a sucker for the accidental pregnancy trope and Devney Perry did not miss! Jax was instantly all in on Sasha but had to wait patiently for her walls to crumble. He was so steadfast in his love and support of her and the way he cared for however she’d allow was so beautiful.
I won’t leave any spoilers but man that last 8-10% really just had me sobbing and I loved every word 😭. And the found family aspect of this story was amazing.
I loved the continuing plot from book 1 regarding Curtis and Lily. I was really upset with her after Crossroads and I appreciated getting more of the story from another point of view.
Very curious about Emery’s story. I loved meeting her and the dynamic she and Jax (and eventually Sasha shared). 👀
If you’re a fan of accidental pregnancy and loved crossroads, I highly recommend reading Sunlight when it comes out October 15th!
Thank you so much to Devney Perry and Valentine PR for the arc of this book in exchange for my honest review .

4.5/5 starssss
Sunlight takes place right after the Crossroads Epilogue (seven years later) which starts us off in a good place where Jax has had an opportunity to grow as an individual and that is so nice and refreshing to see. I could see a huge difference throughout with his character in Sunlight compared to him in Crossroads. I first knew I wanted to read and review this when I found out it included an accidental pregnancy trope since that is one of my all-time favorites.
Devney knows how to write a book with amazing characters, tropes, and storylines that will keep you hooked from the beginning, especially with Jax and Sasha’s book! When I say I couldn’t put it down from the time I started reading it's the truth. I fell in love with Jax and Sasha and just had to know how their story was going to play out.
When we first met Jax in Crossroads I felt a mix of different things when he was introduced, but once I had the opportunity to read and understand his story my heart broke for him especially seeing how it impacted him. As for Sasha, she moved to Montana wanting a fresh start, and I was able to see that as I continued to read. Something that I loved seeing throughout was the “tell me a lie” and the “tell me a secret” moments they were honestly freaking cute!
Both Jax and Sasha’s chemistry was perfect despite the tension between the two that occurred in the beginning. The way they met drew me in and really set the book up wanting me to know how it was all going to play out for the both of them. Sunlight was our opportunity to dive into both their histories to understand everything more thoroughly! It was nice to see some of the relationships resolved bringing each character closer together.
I felt so many different emotions when reading ranging from wanting to cry and laugh, to screaming when something happened that I didn’t expect! However, it did keep me guessing about what was going to happen next and how it was all going to play out.
After finishing Sunlight I’m not ready to say goodbye to all these wonderful characters

Sasha has enough secrets for the entire state of Montana and happens to be the girl that Jax, town playboy, can't win over, and enjoys the challenge. After meeting in a grocery store parking lot where Sasha attempts to steal a shopping cart, they find out the next day that they will be working together. But the closeness doesn't stop there when a work party goes a little farther than they expected and Sasha might have to start trusting Jax with some of her secrets while he unloads a lifetime of family baggage on his own where they both accept that no one is an accident and no one is a mistake. But will Eddie accept it?
Probably about a 3.5⭐️
I had really high hopes for this book since Crossroads was definitely an infinity star read for me, but I think I had my expectations a little too high and it set me up for failure. I absolutely loved Jax and his character, but I found Sasha very difficult for me to connect with personally. Sasha is a very closed off character, not only to the MMC but also to the reader which was different and interesting. It did add to the intrigue of her character because I knew that if I kept an open mind I would love her in the end when she finally opened up and by that time I was BAWLING.
I also didn't really love all of the time jumps and would've liked to see more of Sasha and Jax together. But despite the time jumps, they both experienced tremendous personal growth that spilled over into being able to have a relationship with each other.
I liked the mystery of Eddie even though I predicted who he was immediately, but he was still a fun subplot that kept me entertained.
Overall, I'm VERY glad I read this and did thoroughly enjoy it. I feel like I might know who the characters for the next book will be and I'm HUGELY looking forward to it.
Thank you so much Devney Perry and Valentine PR for this ARC and I can't wait to keep reading this series!

This is everything I want in a Devney Perry romance!!
Firstly, my man Jax. A golden retriever cowboy who asks the hard hitting questions like what your favorite type of pickle is. Your honor, I love him. Watching these two come together over a surprise pregnancy, bond over late night stories, plus the incredible emotional devotion made this an easy 5 star read.

This series is so good and I'm truly hoping this book isn't the end to the series!!
Jax and Sasha have the most cutest and funniest meet cute ever imo. Jax is instantly smitten with her and asks her out on a date but she rejects it once she finds out he is her new boss. That's when the tension begins and one night one thing leads to another and Sasha ends up pregnant. Sasha is a guarded person who doesn't let anyone in and Jax tries to fight that so much. I honestly loved from the moment Jax finds out Sasha is pregnant he tries to make her so comfortable and is so precious with her.
I loved this book so much. I won't lie I definitely cried reading this one. My heart felt so much for everything both Jax and Saha went through!

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
On her first day in Montana, Sasha meet a men and he asked her out on a date. She almost accepted but when he told her his name, she said no and scurried away. On her first day of job she acted like she mere met Jax Haven, the owner of the Haven River Ranch.
She was good at her work, but she was better at pretending that Jax didn’t exist and avoiding him. But after one incredible night of the annual holiday party, where she drank too much, she can’t avoid him any longer. She’s pregnant with his baby.
I loved how they fell in love preparing for their baby. Their chemistry and passion were off the charts.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for an accidental pregnancy, small town, boss/employee, cowboy romance then you’re going to love it.

As a 28 year old Sasha whose aunt called her Josephine growing up, this book hit me right in the feels💛
𝐉𝐚𝐱 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 is a playboy with only two commitments; his family and Haven Ranch.
𝐒𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐧 is struggling in Montana; she’s trying to pull the tragedy of her past together while moving on with her life.
One night together changes it all.
Jax was a man on a mission!! From the moment he ran into Sasha he knew there was a spark and he was determined, through every stage, to tear down her walls and be the man she, and their baby, needed.
Sasha was such a strong FMC with the weight of the past and future weighing down on her. Having Jax there with ALL the endearments, support, and care was so swoony to read!
I was laughing, tearing up, and kicking my feet the whole time. Plus the added mystery of her letters to the elusive Eddie had me speeding through the pages!!
I cannot rec this enough✨

Well I think it is safe to say that @devneyperry can not write a bad book. This was such a brilliant read, I literally couldn't put it down. There is definitely something about a small town, cowboy that really has me in a chokehold.
I do not know whether there will be anymore but I really hope so because I can't get enough of this series.
"My first day in Montana, I got into a tug-of-war over a grocery store shopping cart. The most handsome man I’d ever seen broke up the scuffle before he asked me on a date. I was seconds away from accepting but then he told me his name.
As an owner of the Haven River Ranch, Jax Haven wasn’t my boss. But he wasn’t not my boss either.
Obviously, my only option was to turn him down, scurry away, then pretend like he was a stranger on my first day of work. And obviously, I could never, ever admit that he was my secret crush.
For as hard as I work at my job, I work twice as hard to pretend Jax doesn’t exist. I don’t let myself think about his dazzling eyes or charming smile. I refuse to acknowledge how good he looks in a pair of faded Wrangler jeans. And as tempting as he is in a cowboy hat, Jax is a distraction I cannot afford.
Everything was going according to plan until the annual holiday party. Until I drank one too many flutes of champagne and let him sweep me off my feet. After a night in his bed, there was no more ignoring Jax Haven. Not when I’m pregnant with his baby."
I was kindly gifted this book to review but the views are all mine

🌶️🌶️ 2/5
"She could glare at me all she wanted, I didn’t give a d@mn. I knew what it looked like when a woman wanted a kiss. And Sasha wanted to be kissed."
This was such an amazing book!!! I enjoyed every moment of getting to know the characters in this story. I absolutely loved how Jax was always there for Sasha, even when she was pushing him away.
Jax isn't the kind of cowboy to settle down, but when he meets a beautiful woman at a grocery store, everything changes. He wants to know her name and everything about her except when she find out who he is she wants nothing to do with him. Jax isn't the type to not go after what he wants. Soon he learns the beauty he met at the store is actually now working for his family resort. Even though she's pretending they've never met, Jax isn't detoured. He can wait for her. After a work party, Jax and Sasha share a night together. Sasha tells Jax it's a mistake and they should forget it, but forgetting will be impossible when she see two lines on that pregnancy test.
“I’ve got you. When it comes to the baby and life and all things. I’ve got you."
💛 Cowboy Romance
💛 Pregnancy
💛 Cinnamon roll MMC
💛 Forced Proximity
💛 No third act break up
💛 He's her boss (kinda)
💛 Dual POV

Crossroads is one of my favorite books of the year, meaning Sunlight was a highly anticipated read. So thank you so much to @devneyperry and @valentine_pr_ for the eARC! (And yes I have a physical copy and already got the audiobook since this book is out TODAY!)
This is a small town, enemies to lovers, accidental (though Sasha wouldn’t like me saying that…) pregnancy, cowboy romance that was an immediate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I truly read this in almost one sitting and I loved it so much!
Sasha and Jax absolutely are meant for each other, and Jax’s patience with Sasha, his persistence and kindness when she was scared, was so beautiful! Sasha has gone through so much, and had a hard time accepting good things, but Jax was determined early on to bring love and light and joy into her life.
I honestly would have read 200 more pages of these two just hanging out. This was a slowww burn but it was so worth it in the end.

4.5⭐️ (rounded up)
Sasha has moved to Montana to work at Haven River Ranch. When she meets Jax in the grocery store parking lot, there is an immediate attraction, but she soon learns that his family owns the ranch. Sasha cannot let anything get in the way of this job, so she tries to ignore the attraction. When Sasha and Jax sleep together after the staff holiday party, Sasha decides it can never happen again, except a few weeks later, she realizes she is pregnant.
This book was so hard to put down! I really enjoyed Crossroads, but Sunlight is my new favourite book in the series. It might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually love the accidental pregnancy trope and Devney Perry always writes it so well. I loved the relationship between Jax and Sasha. He was so sweet and patient with her. This book was beautiful and emotional, and I loved every second of it. I highly recommend this series if you love small town romances.
What to expect:
💛 Cowboy Romance
💛 Accidental Pregnancy
💛 Workplace
💛 Forced Proximity
💛 Small Town
Thank you to Devney Perry, Montlake and Valentine PR for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

i loved everything about this book. jax and sasha work together, but they meet before they know this. jax is a carefree cowboy, and sasha is the careful city girl. after a night spent together, they learn they're going to have a baby together and a wonderful love story follows.
jax and sasha grow and learn how to love, not just one another, but also the people around them. between secrets, lies, and breakfasts before dinner, the two of them create a sweet family. jax becomes sasha's secret keeper and sasha becomes jax's anchor. they lean on one another when things get rough and create safe spaces. jax and sasha's story is filled with so much love and touches on the importance of the words we use and how much weight they hold. especially about the people we love.

This book was amazing! No one pulls you in quite like Devney Perry. I was instantly hooked on Jax and Sasha’s stories and the sparks when they were together. This surprise pregnancy/forced proximity/cowboy romance was everything. Sasha was such a strong character with a tender heart and Jax was patient and trustworthy. I adore this Haven family so much. Five stars

This is quickly becoming my favorite small town/cowboy romance series. Jax and Sasha were so perfect for one another. Their pasts brought so much to the relationship dynamic and how they truly cherish one another. My favorite parts were when they asked for a secret and a lie.
Small town. Surprise pregnant. Workplace romance. Forced proximity.

This book was PERFECTION!
I could have read this book forever! The second I finished it, I went back and read my favorite parts again and again.
Accidental pregnancy is by no means my favorite trope and one of the reasons I usually don't like it is because the romance sometimes feels forced between the two MCs when there's a baby on the way.
BUT in this book, you can feel the connection between Jax and Sasha from their first (chaotic and hilarious) meeting! I loved how Sasha slowly opened up to Jax and understood how he was all in with her. Their relationship was so beatuiful and heartwarming.
I LOVED everything about this book. I loved seeing Indya and West, I loved Haven River Ranch and I loved Montana (iykyk). This book has become one of my all-time favorite books, and definitely a favorite of 2024!
I can't wait for the next books in this series (Emery and Zak?)!

Another exceptional book from an exceptional author! I love a good cowboy romance and Jax is one of my favorite cowboy book boyfriends. Devney used her exceptional storytelling skills to take us on the journey of Sasha and Jax. It took a little bit to connect with Sasha and once you know her why it's easy to open your heart to her. What I love about this book is that it’s paced very naturally. Even though Jax falls first and Sasha has some secrets, they both get to know each other on a realistic pace. They truly become friends and then lovers. One of my favorite parts of this book was the “tell me a lie/ tell me a secret” aspect - my heart 😍. The ending just made me smile! One you don't want to miss!

devney perry has done it again, i am absolutely in love with the world and people she creates!! haven river ranch is my new home away from home, and jax and sasha are everything! love that this book included such a heartfelt backstory for both characters and their journey towards love. this book is absolutely a love story but is also about redemption, and grief, and forgiveness for both yourself and others. had me hooked from the very first page!!
jax and sasha had such insane chemistry and the slow burn was SLOW BURNINGGG!! i was genuinely on the edge of my seat waiting to see how they got over each hurdle. jax was so patient and understanding and sasha was so brave in forging ahead i just loved these two so much!
i always love how deveny has a little bit of mystery in all her stories and sasha’s backstory was so engaging in this. it was the perfect amount of unknown. also just need to give her the worlds biggest hug (this was actually what half my kindle notes were screaming about)
loved getting to come back to haven river ranch and see where everyone was at. this crew is full of complicated characters who have very real faults but that’s part of what i love so much about them. not everything in life comes easy but this book shows how worth it is to fight for what matters!!
sappy moment time but genuinely thank you to valentine pr and devney perry for this arc it means the absolute world to me 🥹 the eden’s are what got me into cowboy romances and i have found such a deep love for the entirety of devney’s back catalog! her stories have gotten me through some tough times (and serious reading slumps) so getting an arc for one of her books was such a surreal moment 🫶🏻

This book was beautiful. This story was perfection. I cried so many tears while reading. It seriously touched my soul in a way that I can't explain.
"Tell me a lie." "I hate Montana."
Jax and Sasha meet in the grocery store parking lot while she is trying to borrow a grocery cart. This meet cute turns into flirty banter and laughter before she realizes he is none other than Jax Haven, her new boss(ish). Sasha has moved to town to take over as the temporary manager of Haven River Ranch.
She quickly decides he is off limits. They have this undeniable chemistry and one night they give in. That one night now changes everything!
"My Josephine."
This book blew me away. I loved it from beginning to end. I loved the suspense element and I spent this whole book coming up with theories about who "Eddie" was. I was wrong every single time. Get your tissues ready my friends, you are going to need them!

I ate this book up!! I loved being back in the Haven River Ranch! I knew I would love Jax from crossroads and he sure didn’t disappoint! Loved that he knew once he set eyes on Sasha at the grocery store! Sasha and Jax had instant chemistry but their relationship was a slow burn for sure!
Jax stepped up the second he knew and I loved that he reassured Sasha that she wasn’t alone and he wasn’t going anywhere! Sasha had a hard time expressing her feelings and what she wanted but Jax was a patient man.
The baby’s name 🥹💛
I needed more of them!! I feel like it went so fast and would have loved to experience more of them with the baby! The time jumps were not my favorite.
The epilogue was everything!!
Highlights:
“I want you, Sasha. So fucking much.” “Then Take me.”
“That’s what you come over here to tell me? That I look like hell?” “You do look like hell. And you’re still the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
“I’m scared to push with you. I’m afraid I’ll push you away. But damn it, Sasha, I want to push.” “Maybe I need to be pushed.”
“I love you. I think I loved you the moment you tried to steal that shopping cart.”
“Tell me a secret” “I love you”
