Jared Cade has expert knowledge of Agatha Christie's life and literary works, and also draws inspiration from other Golden Age crime novelists.
Amateur sleuths Lyle Revel and Hermoine Bradbury find themselves in the midst of a hugely complex plot involving an escaped Nazi war criminal, blackmail, murder, and an enormous cast overflowing with red herrings.
The writing is elegant and clever, drawing on locked-room murder mysteries, razor-sharp courtroom scenes, old-fashioned secret corridors, and an extraordinarily well-written denouement where all is revealed in a performance worthy of the great Hercule Poirot himself.
Every cozy crime fiction enthusiast should find this novel a place on their bookshelves.

This novel involves castles, a Nazi who is found alive and two caretakers of the castle who must help solve the mystery.
When a documentarian comes to film the story of Captain Dietrich, it is discovered that this Nazi fugitive is still alive. Soon a document is stolen, a guest is murdered and what results in an important trial is revealed.

I enjoyed the ambiance of this novel and the exploration of the fugitive. The book kept me engaged and I recommend it to other readers.
