This book was not very good. With despicable characters, a far-fetched plot with holes in and a pace that made the story fall apart, I was relieved to finish it. I persevered because I was intrigued to find out the answers to the mystery, especially as the first half was incredibly empty, but unfortunately I was not rewarded for my patience.

The story opens with a dramatic murder scene, encouraging readers to know what happened to Joe and Beth. What is the story behind this bloody crime scene with two knives? Therefore, the first part of the story is the flashback leading up to this moment, where we see how fragile the relationship is between Joe and Beth. They are as bad as each other and I could not understand why they were still together. Both keep secrets from the other one and Beth is presented as the ultimate witch. Selfish, rude and quite simply nasty, everyone around her has to walk on eggshells – even before she receives devastating news.

Beth’s life spirals out of control, not helped by her alcoholism combined with her medication. She is taking Joe down with her and the more I read about her, the more the opening made sense! She is definitely not someone I would want to be friends with, let alone live with. At the same time, Holten cleverly creates parallels with Joe and Beth’s domestic lives, with the case that the two are involved in at their work places. Despite being employed at different places, Beth and Joe are representing a husband and wife in a domestic abuse case – with alarmingly similar circumstances to their own marriage.

This aspect of the plot could have been developed so much more. I felt like it became a convenient filler to the plot as we see Beth’s life take such a downwards dive. I did wonder if the writer was going to do something interesting with this sub-plot, but it appeared to just fade out of the narrative in the second half. However, it certainly reinforces the domestic abuse element to the story as there is more than one victim in the story – there is more than one truth that needs to be discovered.

As the novel reached its conclusion, I felt like the writer had lost touch in reality. Beth makes sudden recoveries, people are conveniently removed from the narrative and the fast pace that is seen in the majority of the story suddenly intensifies at the end, as if the writer herself was keen to finish the novel. The ending felt incredibly predictable and underwhelming, which sadly mirrored my overall experience of the book.

As far as thrillers go, this may appeal because of the fast pace and short chapters. Told from the alternating perspectives of Joe and Beth, you get a true sense of their disastrous relationship. Yet, the thriller wasn’t particularly intense and my dislike for the main characters meant I was actually pleased when they were removed from the narrative.

The premise drew me into wanting to read this novel. It starts with two dead bodies and then you go back in time to see what happened, however, you are hearing it from two different perspectives and you do not know what is really the truth. there is definitely themes of DV and it can get a bit dark so keep that in mind if you are sensitive that that type of material.

His Truth Her Truth was an enjoyable thriller. While the pacing felt off at some parts of the book I still found myself engrossed in the storyline and enjoying the characters.

I found this to be an enjoyable psychological thriller. The characters different perspectives were good. However I did feel the pace to slow down in some parts. If you enjoy he said, she said Thrillers and different opposing views you will enjoy this book

This book is a tale of two halves the first part will bring the story to what leads to two bodies being found in a kitchen these bodies are off a seemingly loving couple who have hit upon a bad patch Joe & Beth.
The writing in this book was very good and when you get used to the style of POV being given by Joe & Beth it makes an interesting read which will have your head pickled as you see the story unfold from their own eyes.
The story unfolds due to Beth Dad dying and it opening up family secrets of a mother who run off due to her dependence with alcohol and the effects it has had on Beth will she become just like her mother. Who do you trust family friends or even the family doctor.
The second part of the book unfolds the story of who did it and why what really is going on behind the late night arguments Beth new dependence on alcohol who has set them up or is it simply that love ran out the twists will keep you intrigued though I felt that sometimes they could have been wrapped up a bit quicker and got to point quicker though I can see were the author was coming from. The ending was good, with twists that brought it together and quite bluntly. Good book for those who love a little bit of drama, twitching curtains and a little bit of mystery.

This is a great psychological thriller.
The Police are called by a worried neighbour and they find Beth and Joe in a pool of blood in their home.
Somehow they are both still alive and the paramedics do everything they can to save them.
With Beth seriously injured in hospital, the Police are keen to speak to her, but her throat has been badly damaged.
Joe is unconscious so the Police struggle with finding out what really happened.
Beth had recently lost her father and was struggling to cope, and as the story develops we find out her relationship with Joe wasn’t great.
I won’t say anymore as there’s a few twists and turns in the story that I don’t want to spoil.
I really enjoyed trying to work out what happened that day, and can recommend this book.

Based on summary, I had high hopes for this story. The prologue definitely grabbed my attention. Short and to the point, it easily pulled me in. However, I can't say the same for the rest of the book. The pace was way too slow. There were hints of big twists, but they didn't happen. In fact, it felt like not much happened until the latter half of the book. And by that time, it was a bit too late, and things just felt rushed. Beth was frustrating, and I never really connected with her. I did enjoy the alternating points of view. This book is quite dark, so that is something readers may want to keep in mind.

Joe and Beth are both found stabbed in their own home. What follows is mostly a retrospective from each of their perspectives as to how a supposedly happy couple have attacked one another. Short chapters rattle along. Unfortunately I found the characters neither likeable nor the plot especially credible as Beth’s drug and alcohol fuelled haslcinations (or are they) take over. Keeps your attention as a quick read but ultimately a little unfulfilling

We begin at the end. We are told about two bodies being found in a kitchen of a relatively normal town but hang on - they’re still alive. This draws the readers into the following chapters which give the backstory to the initial chapter. We’re ina situation of which one to believe. Both of them are credible and flawed. When you read about what his motivations are, you’re team husband but then you read the wife’s part and minds are changed. If you like to be manipulated to become change to opposing teams then this is the book for you. I really enjoyed it.

Gladstone Village looks like the perfect English countryside escape—until one violent night shatters its peace. What really happened between Joe Trasker and Beth Stanford? That depends on whose version of the truth you believe.

I liked the alternating POVs, which added to the mystery and made it tough to know who to trust. The tone is dark, full of lies and self-delusion, which kept me engaged. Neither character is particularly likable—Beth has a ton of issues (some not her fault, but she doesn’t always help herself), and Joe is emotionally detached. They’re total opposites, which makes for an intriguing but odd dynamic.

The first half had me hooked, but the second half dragged. There were plenty of twists—maybe too many—and I figured things out a little too easily. Some moments felt over-the-top, and a few characters, especially the police, didn’t feel very believable.

Overall, it’s not a bad read, just not one that completely wowed me.

His Truth Her Truth was definitely a book of two halves.
We start the book with two bodies on the floor, blood everywhere, a home invasion gone wrong? The book is split into two halves. Part one is what happened before the event, who these people are, what they do for work, who their friends are and what events have happened. Part two is the who, what, what where and when. Trying to find out who is the culprit mixed with the police investigation.
This was definitely a book of two halves, the first really let me get to know Joe and Beth really well, what their day to day lives looked like, how suspicions started and the pressure both were under. The second part was full of twists and turns but felt rushed compared to the first part. I felt the first part could have been cut down a bit to allow a little more time for the second part. The characters were both likeable and not at the same time if that makes sense! The storyline was good and although the ending felt rushed everything was answered that needed to be.

This was such a great psychological thriller. I loved everything about this book and will be recommending it to all my book loving thriller friends.

I wanted to like this book so much, but unfortunately it was not for me.

This thriller follows a couple who are going through domestic abuse accusations, grief, murder, and various other points. I found the pacing of this book hard to follow. The chapters are short, so I felt like I was breezing through the book, but I actually felt like it hurt the pace because not enough information was given in each chapter. The writing almost felt manic in the speed that it goes. I also felt like I was able to catch the twist pretty early, which isn't a bad thing, but the reveal of it all felt like it was also rushed and wrapped up in a little bow.

A gripping thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Fast paced with the tension lasting until the very end. I would recommend this book.

The story follows Joe and Beth, each offering their own perspective on the unfolding events. The alternating POVs create a sense of suspense and intrigue, as readers are left questioning who to believe. While each character brings their unique background and motivations to the table, the central narrative revolves around a series of dramatic events that tie them together. The psychological depth of the characters adds complexity to the story, making their thoughts and actions an integral part of the suspense.

I appreciated the use of multiple POVs, which effectively kept the reader guessing who to trust. However, the abundance of plot twists made the story feel somewhat chaotic and rushed. Despite this, I enjoyed the thrill of exploring each character’s thoughts and perspectives on the unfolding events. That said, it was relatively easy to deduce the culprit behind the dramatic occurrences.

This was a fantastic psychological thriller, it had that feel that I was looking for and thought the overall concept worked. The characters had that feel that I was looking for and was invested in what was going on with them. It kept me guessing until the end and was really well done. Noelle Holten has a strong writing style.

I liked it! Very short, action packed chapters with enough intrigue and twists to keep me guessing made this an easy, quick, one day read for me. I had to find out with was actually telling the truth.
This is the first Noelle Holten book that I’ve read- it won’t be the last! I look forward to seeking out other titles by this author.
