The serial killer support group was SO good. It was dark, twisty and full of surprises.
Jess finally escapes an abusive relationship and begins going to a support group for DA survivors. Everything seems to be on the up and up until someone starts hurting and taking out the support group’s abusers one by one…
The vengeance, the creativity, the characters… everything about this book was phenomenal.

“I was no longer afraid to be afraid.”
A gripping feminist revenge thriller that delivers both emotion and suspense.
The pacing is fast, with short chapters and smartly placed twists that keep the momentum high. Jess, the FMC, stands out as a gritty, believable lead, and the bond between the women feels authentic and hard-won.
While some supporting characters could use more depth and a few plot points stretch believability, the overall experience is fun and thought-provoking. This is a sharp, unsettling ride that questions what happens when survivors refuse to stay silent.

I loved the concept of this, and I enjoyed reading it - but I felt that it lacked in some areas. I think having more background on the other members of the group would have been good. I thought there were some aspects of the story that felt like they were either forgotten about or left rather open ended. And the ending itself seems rather rushed. I'm hoping there's going to be a second installment to answer these things.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc ebook.

2.5 stars - Something about this was a miss for me, and by the end I was so bored I found myself skimming just to reach the conclusion. I wasn’t surprised by anything that happened in this book, I think because of the title, tag line, and synopsis - there is a very clear roadmap presented of where this story is going to go.
I did appreciate how the women weren’t portrayed as weak; they showed great strength, and I loved seeing them support each other. I also enjoyed the ongoing theme of morality and justice, and how it encourages readers to reflect on right vs wrong, and what is fair vs unjust in these situations. I think because of these reflections, it would be a strong contender for a book club read, but I don’t feel it fits the thriller or mystery genre more than dark fiction.

Loved the the premise.Generally love stories that take victimized characters and let them be badasses. The raw, messy solidarity of the women in this book was great.
Unfortunately, this one didn't really work for me. With a different title and blurb, this book could have built some great tension. Instead, I felt like I was just waiting for it to fulfill its promise. The pacing also felt a little uneven and rushed at the end. And while Jess felt fleshed out enough, the side characters were more outlines than people.
Still, I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the read!. The concept is strong, the themes are enticing, and it's pretty engaging even if it did leave me wanting a bit more.
3.5 stars

A brilliantly gripping read from start to finish. I could not put it down! I wasn’t expecting it to end how it did either.

D.B. Stephens' The Serial Killer Support Group is a gripping and unsettling thriller that delves into the lives of women who have survived domestic violence. The novel follows Jess Pendle, who, after a brutal assault by her boyfriend, joins a support group for victims of domestic abuse. What begins as a therapeutic journey soon turns into a dark and twisted tale of vigilante justice.
Stephens masterfully balances the intense pacing of a thriller with the sensitive handling of its themes. The book raises important questions about justice, heroism, and the lengths to which one might go to protect themselves and others. The dynamic within the support group is compelling, showcasing the strength and resilience of the women as they navigate their trauma and seek retribution.
One of the novel's strengths is its ability to keep readers on the edge of their seats. The mystery surrounding the identity of "The Caretaker," who targets the abusers of the women in the group, adds a layer of suspense that keeps the pages turning. However, some readers might find the plot twists a bit predictable, and the title itself reveals too much of the storyline.
Despite these minor drawbacks, The Serial Killer Support Group is a thought-provoking read that shines a light on the often hidden world of domestic violence and the lack of effective legal protection for its victims. The book's emotionally charged narrative and well-drawn characters make it a standout in the genre.
Overall, The Serial Killer Support Group is a dark, disturbing, and addictive thriller that will leave readers questioning the boundaries of justice and morality. It's a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and crime novels.

I don't read a lot of thrillers but I found the consept of this very intriguing. I've learned more about domestic abuse as it's not a topic I encounter often. It also managed to convince me that the synopsis of the book was wrong for th first 50% of the book which actually made the revieal in the middle feel like a plot twist even if I'm not sure why the synopsis is written as it is get the set up explained in it is used as a reveal?
This is one of my favorite books of the year so far and the only way it took me so long to read is because I did not want it to end.

I am such a sucker for any book about serial killers so I did not hesitate to read this and I am so glad I did. The concept was amazing and I loved the suspense on who the "Caretaker" could be. My favorite part were the friendships throughout. The only letdown was I felt the character development was lacking and I was left wanting to know more about each character! Overall a great read.

It's almost New Year's eve in a few hours, and Jess is sitting in hospital with her abusive partner, Lewis. After being silent for too many times, she finally spoken up and reported Lewis. A flyer that she received from hospital staff leads her to a domestic violence survivor's support group.
The chapters narrated by The Caretaker make this story somewhat thrilling and unputdownable. As those women abused by their partner or husband do not get proper support from law-enforcement, The Caretaker will take into his own hands to save this women from their abusers.
The plot of this book certainly reminds me of a book by Katherine Kovacic - Seven Sisters.

This is a must read for anyone who enjoys a good thriller!!
Absolutely loved the characters, the plot, the tension - impossible to put it down.
Certainly recommended

What a completely obsessive read that i just could not put down its one of them thriller reads where your like just one more chapter ok just one more chapter and before you no it you've binged the whole entire book

DB Stephens’ The Serial Killer Support Group rests on a brilliant, witty premise that hinges on the J.S. Millian utilitarian question: can murder ever serve the greater good? CrimeCom continues to win me over (see my post on How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie), and DB Stephens’ The Serial Killer Support Group only cements the genre’s appeal.
In a world where the “court of public opinion” holds sway and Luigi Mangione (the prime suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson) is hailed a hero are a group of domestic abuse survivors to be blamed?
The final chapters reveal hidden alliances and challenge our sympathies in unexpected ways. In the end, we’re left questioning not only the deciding factor of these survivors-turned-vigilantes but also our own boundaries of right and wrong.
I do wish each individual characters’ personalities and physical attributes were fleshed out more as sometimes it felt hard to picture them. This was most certainly more of a plot-driven story. Still, the story’s momentum never falters, and with the promise of a sequel on the horizon, I’m eager to see where Stephens takes these morally complex characters next. I am excited to pick up the story where it left off!
Thank you to NetGalley and ONE MORE CHAPTER for an ARC of The Serial Killer Support Group by DB Stephens.
⭐⭐⭐⭐

As soon as I saw the title of this book, I was intrigued and had to read it! I was not disappointed, and found myself unable to put the book down! Suspenseful, intriguing and pacy, this novel will not disappoint. Highly recommended and a must-read for fans of thrillers.
This one had me gripped on reading the title. And what a read it was. I couldn’t and wouldn’t put it down. Fast paced, gory, and dare I say empowering! I thought the caretaker was going to be someone obvious and I could feel my disappointment starting. I was wrong, and so started the second and explosive part of the book. This is must read!

Great concept and, in my opinion, well executed.
I enjoyed the way the main character develops and ensures the premise doesn’t become cookie cutter.
The motivation is relatable and relevant and I really enjoyed this book.

I really enjoyed The Serial Killer Support Group. It was full of suspense, drama, secrets, and twists.
I was hooked from the first chapter, I honestly couldn't put it down.
I loved Jess, Kelly, Maddie, and Hannah. They were all charismatic, smart, and brave.
The storyline is unique and interesting, and although there is another recent release with a very similar title, they couldn't be more different.
I loved the friendship and solidarity that the women shared. It had me firmly on their side, cheering them on.
This is the first book I've read from D.B. Stephens, and it definitely won't be the last.
I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.
I highly recommend.
4 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
