A few observations of The serial killer support group… the title was what interested me in the book. As a result I thought the tone of the book did not for my expectations. Weirdly I thought it would be more snarky. I’ve read other books in this genre that had that same tone that fit the title.
Once I settled into the story it did move along. The twists were predictable … including the identity of the caretaker.
The interactions between Lewis and Jess became repetitive and didn’t move the story along.
I’ve never used the word whilst in conversation and it appeared a lot… don’t know why that bothered me.
The ending seemed abrupt with a few story lines left out there especially concerning the character Sophie.
It did deal with an important topic and the helpless women feel in situations of domestic abuse and violence.
For me it was just ok… probably wouldn’t recommend it to another reader.

The Serial Killer Support Group has a gripping premise that hooked me with a strong start. The story starts off fast-paced and engaging, following Jess Pendle, a victim of domestic abuse who, after reporting her ex to the police, joins a victim support group to rebuild her life. The concept of a support group with a dark twist is unique, and the tension builds well in the beginning.

However, the middle portion loses some of the initial momentum, slowing down the pace. The ending also feels abrupt, leaving loose ends that make it seem more like the setup for a series rather than a fully satisfying standalone novel.

Overall, it’s a decent read, and I’d still recommend it to thriller fans, but it doesn’t quite reach its full potential.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book.

A fun book that will likely have broad and universal appeal. Storyline engaging. Characters well-written and believable

While I did enjoy this book, I kept thinking of a couple other “serial killer support group” books and this just wasn’t my favorite in the genre.

The novel’s biggest weakness lies in its characters. Jess and Sophie stand out as the most developed and engaging, but the rest of the cast feels underwritten — existing more to serve the narrative than to feel like real, fleshed-out people. This lack of depth makes it harder to fully invest in their dynamics, which is disappointing given the heavy subject matter.

That said, The Serial Killer Support Group is still an enjoyable read. It offers an interesting take on revenge and justice, and while it doesn’t quite reach its full potential, it’s worth picking up for fans of psychological thrillers.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for the advanced readers copy!

The Serial Killer Support Group centres around a group for victims of domestic violence. When past partners of the group become victims themselves, one by one, the police try to find a link.

This is the first book I have read by this author, it was an enjoyable if somewhat grisly read that held my attention throughout and I will be looking forward to reading more from D B Stephens.

4 stars ****

Description:
The support group was supposed to be a chance to meet like-minded women and receive therapy in the wake of the terrible crimes committed against them, but when their therapist leaves, will they find other ways to support each other?

My opinion:
Stephens pens a fast-paced thriller novel with very interesting characters that are very enjoyable to read. The short chapters and multiple POV make for a quick and easy reading. I always love reading a story with a "good" vigilante, and The Serial Killer Support Group does not disappoint. I'm pleased that this story brings awareness to domestic violence and represents those abused well. The twists are different and unexpected, adding to the pleasure of this book. I absolutely adore that there is little cursing in this novel. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a thriller with twists and brilliant personas.

This was such a fast paced, intriguing read! There are themes of domestic violence, so be sure to check your trigger warnings before delving into this piece.
I enjoyed the original premise and the surprising twist that I didn’t see coming!
With the way this ended, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a sequel, and if there is, I most definitely would read it!

I was really curious about the title of this book and I was so pleased that curiosity led me to request it. It was refreshingly different. At first I thought it was going to be boringly predictable but then the storyline took off at a tangent that I certainly wasn't expecting. The characters were likeable. Victims but tough and fighting to find themselves again. I really hope there are more episodes of The Serial Killer Support Group to come. A very enjoyable easy read.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

A captivating read where the mystery is not in unmasking the killer, but rather discovering if the perpetrators will get away with their crimes.

With violence against woman a seldom prosecuted crime (and when it is prosecuted the guilty are let off with a light sentence, if they receive any sentence at all) this was an engaging read of a group of abused women who decided to rid the world of their abusers.

A well written intriguing quilty pleasure of a mystery that reallocates the power and control, taking it from stalkers, and physically & emotionally abusive individuals and putting it directly in the hands of those they abused.

A must read for fans of psychological revenge thrillers.

The Serial Killer Support Group by D B Stephens

A close-knit support group for nine women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse in the worst possible way. They meet once a week talking about their experiences. Suddenly their abusive partners are getting attacked and killed one by one.

The attacker is calling himself the Caretaker. Is the Caretaker finally dishing out what the abusive partners deserved or is he evil and must be stopped?

I loved this book and wished there was a part two. I loved the police officer Sophie Salam and all the ladies from the support group; Jess, Hannah, Madison, Kelly…

I couldn’t resist reading this one with a title like that! I’m so happy I read this fast paced mystery/thriller. This would have been a devour in one sitting book for me, if I had the time! I sure wish I could have because I needed answers and was feeling very impatient waiting until I had time to read.

I thought I had it all figured out (of course) but I didn’t (YASSSSS I LOVE A SURPRISE) and I am super happy about how it turned out. It was very…satisfying. This is one of those best to go in as blind as possible reads!

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I would definitely read another and I 10000% recommend this one! Also, I’m super happy at the end of the book it does say this is the first book in a new series and I’ll definitely be reading the next one when it comes out.

What initially pulled me in was the title of the book. Because come on who wouldn’t want to read that.

That said I got to about 45% and just felt underwhelmed. The pacing felt off and they continue that way until the end, which felt very rushed. I don’t know if that’s because there’s going to be a book two but it just felt very haphazard.

I definitely liked the concept of the book, but I think it could have been done better

I was pleasantly surprised with this book and I wasn't exactly sold on it going in. This wasn't my favorite book, but it was decent.
