The Witch of Wol Sin Lake absolutely delivered on all fronts. As someone who's been getting more into Korean mythology lately, this fantasy hit all the right notes for me.
From literally page one, I was HOOKED. Like, forget doing anything productive for the day once I started reading! The storytelling just pulls you in and doesn't let go. The author has this way of writing that feels so effortless but keeps you totally engaged throughout.
The characters? So well done! They feel like real people with actual depth instead of just plot devices moving the story along. I found myself getting genuinely invested in what happened to them, which is always the sign of great character work.
I loved watching how everything unfolded in this one. The plot development was chef's kiss - everything connected in such satisfying ways. Nothing felt rushed or forced, which can happen sometimes in sequels when authors are trying to wrap things up.
If you're looking for a fantasy that feels fresh with mythology you might not be super familiar with, definitely pick this one up! Just make sure you read the first book beforehand or you'll be totally lost!

Really the only thing I felt wasn’t quite as good as the first one is that I wish there had been more of the time travel (switches) used. I LOVE that element of these books. It was used some, but not as much as in the first book and I missed it.

The Witch of Wol Sin Lake was a great sequel. I really enjoyed this Korean mythology fantasy, as soon as I started reading I was gripped by the storytelling. The writing is engaging and the characters are created well. I really enjoyed the development of this novel and how everything played out. I loved the Korean mythology aspect too. A great read.

This is such an amazing YA fantasy series inspired by Korean mythology. Where everything the author describes from clothing, to nature to food you truly experience.
I honestly do not understand why this book is not kore widely available nor hyped as it deserves more love. I have read many Asian fantasy series the last few years and this one truly stands out with an unique world, dark creatures and time travel. Finally the badass main character and lovely friends along the way will make for a cosy but adventurous read!

An absolutely captivating sequel to the first book that grips you as soon as you start the book.
Cannot thank netgalley and the author enough for giving me an early copy!

The most joyous read from start to finish and in every which way. I was fully engrossed in the story from page 1 and before I knew it, I was turning the final page. Just brilliant!

before i start this review: thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publishers for providing me with an early arc of ‘The Witch of Wol Sin Lake by Lena Jeong’

as soon as i opened the book, i immediately loved interactions between the characters were so entertaining to read in the first book, (Hongbin is still my favourite character ‼️). the writing flowed well making me feel really immersed into the plot, i was literally losing it over the plot twists omg??
Kimoon is also a fan favourite (i can have more than one favourite character don’t judge). there’s so many quotes i could use right now but ahhhhh i want this to be spoiler free. THE ENDING??
