NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit was very helpful for first time reviewers. The tips for building out our profile were helpful. The navigation guide was invaluable. I must say, it was because of this Toolkit that I withdrew a few additional review requests I had made. The advice to not overcommit yourself is good. This will help keep the reviewer’s feedback ratio at 80% or higher. This guide was the perfect length. It covered exactly what one needs to know without overloading the learner. I also appreciate that there is a guideline for a book one may choose to DNF, as this does happen. All around, this guide is wonderful.

This downloadable toolkit has plenty of tips to help the NetGalley newbie (like me) get their feet on the ground. It can be read in one sitting, but is definitely a book I'll save and refer back to.
I normally don't like digital text that has different colored backgrounds for different sections, but the graphics for this book are very well done. The font is clear and the relationship between background graphics and text actually made the text more readable than many such handbooks that I have looked at.
An excellent reference tool. Well done, NetGalley!

A useful guide for getting started with reviews on NetGalley; probably best for those new to the community.

The NetGalley Book Advocate Toolkit is like that friend who tells you exactly what you need to know without wasting your time. Whether you’re a fresh-faced NetGalley newbie or a seasoned request-clicker, this guide is packed with tips to level up your game. It’s clear, well-organized, and sprinkled with clever links to deeper dives—plus, it finally solved the mystery of the orange pencil (spoiler: it’s very cool). From polishing your bio and reviews to mastering the Shelf app and making peace with DNF decisions, this toolkit doesn’t just help you navigate NetGalley—it helps you shine for publishers and authors alike.

This toolkit is a fantastic starting point if you’re new to NetGalley. The information is organized, clear, and concise—perfect for avoiding that initial feeling of being overwhelmed. It breaks the process down into simple, manageable steps, and the document itself is short and easy to digest.
What I especially appreciated is the flexibility: you can read it straight through for a quick overview, or follow the many embedded hyperlinks for a much deeper dive into each topic. I did both—reading the concise version while also exploring the linked resources—and found the extra materials to be incredibly valuable!
The tips on writing a strong bio were particularly useful; I was able to make improvements to mine right away. Overall, it’s an excellent resource with a wealth of information, and I highly recommend it to anyone starting their NetGalley journey.

Thank you for the toolkit with tips about NetGalley. It’s been very helpful. I will continue to use it for current and future requests.

I had downloaded the previous Book Advocate Toolkit and found it really helpful! I was happy to see that it's been updated and revised to include even more information this time. I've been using NetGalley for 10 years so I'm pretty familiar with the website and request process, but I always learn something new. I really appreciated the chart showing whether or not to leave a review if you DNF a book!
