NetGalley is a digital platform that connects publishers and authors with reviewers, librarians, booksellers, and media professionals by offering free advance reader copies (ARCs) of upcoming books in exchange for honest reviews. 📚
In order to get accepted for ARCs through NetGalley, you will want to make sure your profile is A.) set up correctly an B.) that you maintain a feedback ratio of at least 80%. I highly recommend downloading the Book Advocate Toolkit from their website first and read through it before requesting ARCs from publishers.
🎧 What I love about NetGalley most, is that they also include ALCs for request and as an avid audiobook listener, I love getting the opportunity to listen to books and review them before they are released.
I am still a new user on this site, but I am happy to help answer any questions you might have on the platform or how to recieve ARCs in general. Just know that you will be required to give honest reviews if you want to start requesting ARCs, otherwise, your approval rating will go down.

This is a resource on how to use Netgalley well, tips on what to do and not when starting out to write good reviews and increase your chances of getting approved for books you request. It gives tips on how to set up your profile to help publishers decide whether to approve your requests, what you can do to up your feedback ratio, and also what info publishers look for in your Netgalley reviews and what they might use it for. It also explains what to do in DNF situations and what symbols on the Netgalley site mean.
It looks like this was updated to have the Social Media tips in its own resource, so this is specifically for how to use Netgalley well. I’ve been using Netgalley for a year now but even I learned some stuff from this toolkit. Highly recommend if you’re new to Netgalley or want to increase your approval rates!

I've been having a lot of trouble getting accepted by publishers and I know my profile has been lacking--this toolkit is exactly what I needed! Hoping with this extra info I'll be able to make myself more appealing to publishers even though I'm just a reviewer and don't have a career in the field.
Similarly, I definitely forget to "hook" readers with my reviews. And I basically never summarize a book, oops.
Overall, happy I gave this pdf a read! Even though a fair amount of the info wasn't new to me, reminders can be helpful.

A great toolkit for introducing how Netgalley works and how to share reviews. I liked how it brings you through each step, from Netgalley’s functions, to how to set up your profile, to explanations as to how feedback ratio works. They also have an entire section in how to navigate the website, which I found particularly useful when trying to find the books I had requested. In addition, the advice given about writing reviews, especially critical reviews was a large help when it came to writing my own ones!

This document was helpful. The links is contains are even more helpful to someone new to NetGalley. I’m glad to have had access to it

A great and handy guide for users! It’s very detailed and easy to understand, and it includes plenty of useful resources. Some I already knew of, others were new!

Super helpful tool for getting started on Netgalley. Thanks for putting this together! This was really well done and thought out, including links and everything you need to get started. I’m excited to continue learning more!

tells you everything you need to know in a small handy PDF. the part about what to write in your "About" section is useful in its specificity. otherwise, the fact that you have to rate this thing as your first download is quite strange. the illustrations are reminiscent of a 2010's girls magazine.

A short, succinct guide with everything you need to know to get started on NetGalley. This guide has a beautiful layout, with links for further information. Awesome tips! Definitely read this before you even request your first book!

Reviewing can be hard to start. I know I struggle with it, and I know many others do too. What to say, what not to say, how to say it. It's something to wrap your head around. NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit gives helpful advice to beginners. While generally broad advice, I know I will apply advice from this guide and would recommend it to my friends too. I will continue to watch for content from We Are Bookish!

If you're new to NetGalley or just looking to boost your chances of getting approved, the NetGalley Toolkit is a must-read. It gives a clear, step-by-step breakdown of how to set up your profile, what publishers are looking for, and how to write thoughtful, effective reviews.
I found it super helpful—it completely took the stress out of figuring out where to start. The toolkit helped me understand the importance of my reviewer bio, how to share my reach and platform, and how to stay professional while still being true to my bookish voice. It even includes tips I hadn’t thought about, like keeping my links updated and revisiting my profile regularly.
Whether you're a blogger, bookstagrammer, or just someone who loves shouting about great books, this toolkit makes it easy to feel confident about requesting ARCs. Highly recommend it to anyone starting their NetGalley journey or wanting to level up their reviewer game!

How does NetGalley work? but how to review? Publisher what wants? Human not understanding?
Well if you like me at some point where absolutely lost on the review business, worry not, Mr NetGalley is here to save the day with this short book of how to be profficient in NetGalleying
Instructions manual for new reviewers, loved it.

Very very useful - supported my book advocacy immensely! I found the sections on how to review particularly useful.

This is a very well laid-out and helpful guide to using NetGalley, and navigating around the website. As a beginner to the site I found it very useful when helping me set up my profile, including what kinds of things to put into my bio, which I would not have added otherwise. I will definitely be referring back to it in the future whenever I need to update my profile.

Great tips and hints to getting approved for ARC’s. Thank you NetGalley for making this guide available to help ensure my reading addiction.

Brief refresher that includes helpful tips on using the #NetGalley platform, promoting reviews on social media, and drafting reviews generally.

This was concise and provided an excellent overview of ARC reading on NetGalley as well as tips for more experienced ARC readers. I wish I had read this earlier and I am looking forward to reading some of the links to outside articles.

I'm so glad that NetGalley has this particular book. Some time last year I had decided I wanted to be a bookstagrammer or booktoker. This guide helped me hone in on my skills

This toolkit is the secret weapon I didn’t know I needed! Imagine stumbling into a library where every book is a cheat code for mastering NetGalley… that’s what reading this felt like! As a newcomer, I appreciated how it didn’t just toss generic advice at me but actually explained the *why* behind the strategies.
The section on crafting a profile that publishers notice was a game changer. I went from guessing in the dark to understanding exactly what makes a request stand out. And the review templates? Suddenly, structuring my thoughts became effortless, like someone handed me a map after I’d been wandering without one.
What I loved most was the emphasis on consistency. It’s not about churning out reviews but building a genuine presence, and the toolkit breaks that down into manageable steps. After applying just a few tips, my feedback ratio improved, and I started feeling like part of the community rather than someone just hoping for approvals.
If you’re new to NetGalley, treat this like your first must read ARC. It’s short, direct, and packed with the kind of insider knowledge that usually takes months to figure out. I’ll be keeping this one close whenever I need a refresher!

This toolkit is so usefull to start using NetGalley! I'm still very new to all of this, so I regularly check it.
