I really enjoyed this book which has so many interesting levels. Don’t be put off by the mention of serial killers in the title because it’s so much more than a serial killer/ police procedural/ murder story. It’s more about relationships: those built on trust over a period of time, those which creep up on us unexpectedly and those familial bonds that tie things together. It also brings into question the old debate about nature or nurture. It’s a book that on the surface seems to be quite generic but on reading becomes so much more. I also loved the characters who were so well defined

A Serial Killers Guide To Marriage is a story that follows the quite unbelievable line but for me this worked well.
Haze and Fox are married with a young daughter, Fox works in London and Haze is the housewife that is bored. She is bored because before she fell pregnant they were serial killers but only killing bad men that deserved to die. When she had her daughter they made a pact to stop all killing but Haze has killed a man and she thinks Fox is cheating on her. The marriage is in decline but can an unsuspecting friend help put them back on track?
This was a light hearted read although some of the kills were quite harsh! The characters worked well together and the storyline although slightly unbelievable was different to anything I’ve read before. The book flowed well and it did have you wanting the couple to stay together and not get caught.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Headline, Wildfire for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This was fun. The story flowed brilliantly and kept me engaged. The darkness and humour really hit. I got mr and Mrs smith vibes which I absolutely loved!

Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for this book.

It's superbly funny and shocking at the same time.
Asia Mackay has created a really well written book with an off the wall storyline. Some parts are shocking, and others had me laughing out loud. It may be a bit far-fetched, but it definitely worked for me. The characters all have their doubles and flaws, yet they are compelling.
Hazel and Fox are vigilante serial killers who target well-off men who have abused women or committed other rimes that have escaped justice. They stepped away from this when their daughter was born, and they are both struggling with the normality of suburban existence. They both miss the thrill of their previous life, and this causes friction between them.
Asia Mackzyhas done a great job here.

Right from the very first page of this book I was immediately invested in the plot. Straight away it was giving me 5 star vibes.
I found the writing style to be so enjoyable and it all flowed brilliantly. I loved the short chapters, that really made me want to keep reading, so much so I finished this in one day.
I liked the main characters of Hazel and Fox and I was interested in reading about them and their relationship. I enjoyed the fact the we got to see both of their POV's in alternating chapters as this did seem to add some depths to them and the story.
My favourite character though was Hazel. I could really feel her sense of yearning for something more from her life and her boredom and that really came across well. I felt like she was a strong character who I found to be funny in a dry and deadpan sort of way.
I have to say that there have been some books recently that have attempted similar storylines. Books featuring a female vigilante that is packed full of good for her energy, but for me, none of them have worked. This one however really hit the nail on the head, I loved it!
I highly recommend you read this and I will definitely be reading from this author again.

Okay this was a hoot to read! Bloody good fun, sometimes quite literally! Haze and Fox fell in love at first sight, in a dark alley, over the body of a dying man (and together finished the job). Haze swore a bit too much for my liking but I enjoyed her friendship with Jenny, and the artwork she can create if inspiration strikes (usually at the cost of someone else). Now they may be two serial killers (the good kind though, only going after those that deserve it) but after Bibi arrived (a new baby always upends people's lives) things are a bit stressful as both try to figure out what to do with excess time since they made a promise to not kill until she grew up (too risky). There are so many secrets and when your first impulse is to stab the problem head on, there does arise quite a bit of tension which leads to funny and sad and violent actions. I found my way laughing through this book, especially at Hazel's reaction when she slips and stabs an attacker to death.

I enjoyed this book a lot and I will say it was a plot that I had not really read before but I found it intriguing how two serial killers can find love and figure out a life for them and their child, and still remain together doing what they love. That ending was quite surprising and I did not guess it but liked it. Cause they are good serial killer vigilantes going after the big bad men. :)

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this story.

This was a fun and lighthearted read - despite the subject matter - and I did enjoy it as a break from some of the more complex books I’ve been reading lately. Despite being serial killer’s the two main character’s (Haze and Fox) come across well and you are invested in their story, and don’t want them to get caught!

That being said I didn’t find the story telling particularly ground breaking and it was predictable at points, and often plot points seemed to be a bit too convenient, with characters accidentally stumbling across important information a little too often for my liking.

I also found the choice to have some chapters from Fox’s perspective odd. A lot of his actions and motives were kept from the reader to build suspense so only getting half the story during his chapters felt a bit lazy, I would’ve preferred to only have heard from Haze to build the suspense more organically.

When Hazel meets Fox she doesn’t expect to find someone who loves her favourite hobby especially when her hobby is killing bad men. Together they travel across Europe removing the world of bad men but when Hazel falls pregnant Fox decides that’s it not more killing and they have to live like normal people. For Hazel she is not only loosing part of herself but it’s also stopping her from being artistic and painting as her kills were her inspiration. As she meets a new friend she puts her whole future at risk and as her marriage seems to be falling apart can she resist killing again and can she save her marriage before it’s too late. A very dark fun read!

I loved this book. It had very similar vibes to "my lovely wife", but the characters were more loveable. It follows a married couple who used to be serial killers, and their victims were men who had harmed women. They gave killing up when their daughter was born, but they miss it. I raced through this book and would recommend to anyone looking for a thriller with likeable characters.

It’s quite a fun read about two married serial killers who have to hang up their weapons once they have a baby, with conflicting consequences. Readers with children will find a lot to laugh about and sympathise with. It’ll be a sure hit albeit not my cup of tea.

My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley. This review was written voluntarily and is entirely my own unbiased opinion.

Reading the blurb about this book I didn’t know whether this was going to make me laugh or cry! Haze is married to Fox and they have a young daughter Bibi. They are well off and live a very comfortable life style. They met up and instantly fell in love. They had similar interests and skills and worked in the same industry. Murder! This book delivers all it promised, some darkly humorous stories, great characters and an entertaining story.

Briefly, before Haze became pregnant they travelled Europe killing ‘bad men who deserved it’ but agreed to retire when Bibi was born. Great (for the criminal fraternity) but incredibly boring for Haze. However she has found a new friend Jenny, with her child Felix, and life is looking up. All is well until one day Haze kills again. It really really wasn’t her fault but she can’t admit anything to Fox. Then she discovers Jenny is a detective on maternity leave! Meanwhile Fox is also up to something and being very secretive and Haze suspects another woman is involved.

Written from dual perspectives the main characters are so good and Haze in particular has a wonderful dry sense of humour. In an hilarious and frankly unbelievable climax the whole story goes dramatically downhill and the weirdest but satisfying conclusion ensues, perfectly done and maybe leaves things open for a sequel? Written clearly with tongue firmly in cheek it’s an entertaining darkly comic novel and a very good holiday read.

This was a fresh take on the latest favourite genre out there which is murder from the POV of the crusading/vigilante killer. A couple that slay together stay together……that is of course until they get pregnant.
Fast forward to a very mundane run of the mill life that is driving Haze out of her mind. And her previously murderous man just doesn’t understand how much she misses the hunt all he can say is think of our child, make some ‘mum’ friends. Little does he know that ignoring Haze’s request for a bit of their old life back may just jeopardise their future one. This was a well paced book that had surprises along the way. Some bits near the end may smack of being a tad convenient/stretching what’s believable but it made the story enjoyable. Could totally see this as a film.

I feel like this is completely wrongly advertised as a thriller - it’s really not one and by giving readers the wrong idea they’re always going to end up disappointed.

This is a book about the mundanities of marriage and motherhood and feeling stifled in suburbia and missing the excitement of your life before (even if that life did involve killing people)

We follow Hazel and Fox, a married couple who gave up killing when their first child was on the way. They’re both hiding things from each other and their secrets are constantly threatening to be exposed.

This book was ok, there’s better ones in the funny murderer genre - I liked Haze and her relationship with Jenny especially but I didn’t care for Fox and think the book would be been better without his POV to be honest.

I was really looking forward to this book I liked the premise of the book and it felt a bit flat. It felt like the story had already been written and felt very similar to CJ Skuse’s Sweetpea series. It was disappointing that I didn’t enjoy this as it is an idea book that I would devour. I really liked Hazel and I could the pain that she had undergone before she met Fox and why she had gone to the murder sprees that she embarked on. Fox is a complicated character as well, but I didn’t feel for his character as much as I did with Hazel. I liked the idea of how they were stopping their murder spree after the birth of their child, but Hazel was looking for more.

It’s hard to keep the spark alive in a marriage when domesticity and children mean you can longer indulge in your hobbies. When your hobby is being a serial killer it’s even trickier.

This book is great fun but with a darker side. Definitely worth a read.

Hazel and Fox are an ordinary couple and parents to a young child, except for the fact that they are serial killers. Only, since having their daughter, they have tried to rein in their kills, promising each other they will stop. However they both find that they are struggling with this. Soon they find they are both hiding secrets from each other.

I really liked the premise of this one and I found the cover intriguing, therefore really wanted to read it. I am glad that I did, as I found this an entertaining thriller, full of dark comedy and drama. The story is told in the voices of both the couple, in different timelines, and I found this worked well to build each character and the backstory. The character’s were very engaging, especially Hazel; I loved her inner monologue and sarcasm. I also really liked Jenny, Hazel’s friend. They were written so well that I actually found myself rooting for serial killers!

The story explores topics such as parent hood and how relationships can change and become dysfunctional. I also enjoyed the art focus within the novel and felt this was a nice extra touch. The only minor issue I had was that I found it quite repetitive at times. However, I am happy there was an open ending as I’m hoping this isn’t the last we will see of these characters.

This is a very fun, unique and well written thriller overall and one that I will be recommending. I will certainly be reading more by this author! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

If you’ve got the looks, the style and the money, you can honeymoon around Europe for a decade; killing bad men as a vacation vocation. But, if you add a baby into the equation then you need to settle down, give up risky hobbies, and work on developing a Family. When Fox met Haze, they bonded over the fact that she had just killed the bad guy he was about to kill. Quelle surprise as they say in France (the incident happens in Paris). Fox is a handsome, debonair, American, with a bottomless trust fund, so no constraints. Haze was brought up in care, but looks, style and a talent for art gives her the freedom to indulge her vigilante instinct. Now, ten years after that meeting, they have settled in Berkshire. He has a job dabbling a bit in finance, she has a job looking after baby Bibi. They have sworn not to get back into the killing game for the sake of the baby. Both miss the old days and tensions begin to mount between them, tensions they cannot reveal to the other partner in case they become contentions and lead to the end of the marriage. Things begin to crack!
The above is the description of a Romcom – except for the murder bits – and the style of writing is that of this genre. It is not the style of a murder-mystery-thriller, although the plot is clearly all of the latter. Much of the story concerns the usual domestic issues and confusions, especially from Hazel’s point of view (note she is now known to everyone by her full given name). Nathaniel’s issues and confusions (note he is now known by his given name and not his middle name) are also domestic, but he is out in the big world so has additional sources of concern. The book is written in shortish chapters alternating between Haze and Fox (although more are about her). The writing is quite humorous, rather tongue in cheek, although it gets a bit flat in the middle (facts without fun). The final resolution is too pat, too unlikely, but inevitable given the characters moral standards. There are a few events which I don’t believe to be feasible (and I don’t mean the murders), but they don’t get in the way of enjoying the story.
I would like to thank NetGalley, the publishers and the author for providing me with a draft proof copy for the purpose of this review.

I thought they said don’t work with the person you are married too?! This book made me both laugh and go “ohhhh” blooming loved it! Well Done!

This was a very different book to what I expected. Yes it is about two serial killers that are married and work together to help womankind by killing bad men. However it really describes so well the aspect of marriage and the changes that the length of the time married alters the couples behavour patterns but also how having children affect a couple as well. There were many funny parts and I found that I just kept reading as I really did not want it to finish. The last few chapters where the story was about to climax were so well written and the ending was totally unexpected. A greta book that i highly recommend .

Absolutely loved this book! The premise was so unique and interesting and I found myself really rooting for Haze and Fox (despite their murdering tendencies). Murder aside the characters were so well written and their day to day struggles very relatable.
I was constantly on the edge of my seat about whether they would get caught or if one would turn on the other.
I really enjoyed how this book was brought to a pinnacle near the end but even with the final sentence in the book I still feel like I’m waiting for the other hat to drop, exactly how it must feel to be Haze and Fox living with their secrets.
Highly recommend this book to others!
