A delightful introduction to some of the wonderful birds that call our cities home. Written in accessible, plain language, this book is a beautifully inclusive reminder that anyone can be a bird enthusiast and we can appreciate the diversity of nature anywhere, including cities! Featuring beautiful illustrations, a fun and conversational style, and an obvious appreciation for all feathered friends, this is an utterly charming book with an important message at its core.

While I was disappointed not to see Robins or Cobra Chickens (Canada Geese) in this guide, it’s got many North American favourites featured across the beautifully presented pages. My Canadian heart was thrilled to see Mallards, Loons, Sparrows, Woodpeckers, Herons, and so many songbirds included!

I would honestly recommend this to any folks who live in the city and want to connect with the wonderful birds that call urban centres home. It’s easy to get tunnel vision navigating life in the city: this book is a gentle reminder of the benefits of incorporating nature into your day-to-day and just pausing to look up/around! I’d also recommend it to those with an interest in birds who might like to start developing their bird watching and identification skills further.

City Bird is very quick, interesting, and informative read. It was nice to learn more about these birds.
