Jewel E. Ann is one of my favorite authors–and by far my favorite romance writer. Her ability to create characters with undeniable chemistry and especially her skill in writing emotionally devastating plotlines makes her books completely absorbing page-turners.
The blurb for From Air fails to capture just how incredible it is–but it really is best experienced by going in blind. I never thought having my heart ripped out of my chest would feel so incredible, but here we are.
The audiobook is included for free with Kindle Unlimited subscriptions, and the narrators do a phenomenal job. Ada Sinclair’s narration of Jamie’s point of view is so masterfully portrayed, every emotion so raw that it feels like watching a heartwrenching film as more about everyone’s secrets is revealed.
The characters are so well-developed, each with a haunting secret and connections that could tear them limb from limb. Trust me on this very vague review and go with your heart–read this book and experience this masterpiece for yourself, then come back and tell me your thoughts so we can recover from the book hangover together while awaiting the next release in the Wildfire series!
Thank you to Montlake, Valentine PR, and Jewel E. Ann for the ebook ARC.

From Air is a super emotional romance.
Jaymes is a nurse taking temporary jobs while she travels around the US. She moves in with a group of first responders in Missoula. The only real rule they have is ‘No sleeping with a roommate’.
“I can’t stop looking at you. And I can’t stop navigating closer to you, even though I know you’re unreachable.”
Cal is the quiet grumpy roommate that Jaymes can’t seem to stay away from. She knows he is not only physically off limits he is emotionally closed off completely.
“Jaymes isn’t the girl of my dreams. I never allowed myself that luxury.
She’s the girl who has taught me how to dream.”
Oh boy does this story hit you with the twists! Be prepared to stay up late with this one! It was definitely unputdownable wanting to know what was going to happen by the end.
-4 Stars-

Devoured this in one sitting!
I had a sense of dread for a large portion of this book. Just a gut feeling something was going to happen, so I was pleasantly surprised when it didn’t! Thank god because I would have been mad and sad if it had lol
I loved Fitzy and Jamie! And their hilarious banter and witty comebacks had me in stitches!
Great read!! Def check it out

Wow — From Air completely took me by surprise in the best way possible. I didn’t expect to be this hooked, but from the very first page I was all in. The story flows so naturally and the writing just pulls you right in — I honestly didn’t want to put it down.
The characters? Loved them. They felt real, relatable, and full of depth. There was just the right balance of emotional moments, humor, and chemistry — the kind of mix that makes you feel everything while also smiling like an idiot at your Kindle.
What I really appreciated was how the story built up — not rushed, not too slow — just the perfect pace to make you care deeply about everything that was happening. And the emotional punches? Yeah, they landed.
Honestly, From Air is one of those books that stays with you after you finish. It’s sweet, heartfelt, and so beautifully written. If you're looking for a story that will make you feel a lot, this one’s it. Loved every second of it!

From Air is a breathtaking blend of humor, heartache, healing, and a romance that anyone would long for. Jaymes “Jamie” Andrews, a traveling nurse, moves to Montana and into a house with three firefighters, including the intriguing Calvin “Fitz” Fitzgerald, who has a traumatic past. Despite a strict “no relationships” rule, their connection grows from playful banter to a meaningful, emotional bond.
Jewel E. Ann masterfully balances humor and depth. Jamie and Fitz’s chemistry is electric, their banter is actually laugh-out-loud funny, and their emotional journey is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The unique professions—smokejumping, tanker piloting, and psychiatric nursing—add depth, while the found-family dynamic and adventurous settings really elevate the story.
Fans of forbidden romance, found family, and emotionally charged storytelling will love this book. It’s an unforgettable story of love, loss, and second chances.
Highly recommend this emotional and addictive romance. And it is one of my faves of the year!

4/5⭐
Jewel's books always make me a bit nervous to read. They are all fantastic but my heart never knows what type of roller coaster she is going to put us through. Jamie and Fitz have a great story and the roller coaster was well worth it.

This was my first book by Jewel E. Ann and I can safely say it will not be my last. Even though several months have passed between when I actually read it and sitting down now to finally write this review the characters and their story still live rent free in my head. If I had to pick an introduction to her writing I honestly can't imagine a better pair than Jamie and Calvin.
When I say their chemistry leapt off the page for me, I mean it downright slapped me in the face. I'd call this one more... one sided dislike to lovers? But even before anything heated up between them the way they just meshed together in each scene was a thing of beauty. Once I started reading I couldn't stop because I just knew they were going to be explosive.
... and they were, but what I didn't see coming was how much their story would tear apart my heart. I love a lot of books, and fall head over heels for a lot of fictional couples, but it's a rare few that genuinely hook me so thoroughly that each step of their journey, good or bad, evokes genuine emotions and reactions out of me. I can't even count the number of times I gasped or got teary eyed or found myself smirking without realizing because their banter was just that good, or their intimacy that hot.
This was one of those books that once I started I completely forgot I was even reading. I was completely immersed in their world, and fascinated by the glimpses the story offered at the life of wildland firefights. I think this is the first book I've ever read with a character in that profession and tbh I'm pretty sure it kicked off a new obsession in me (but nobody is over here complaining).
If you're looking for a slow burn, dislike to friends to lovers, found family type book with a gruff and grumpy, hot as sin MMC and sweet yet sassy FMC do yourself a favor and get a copy of this right now.

Wow!! This is an amazing story, filled with so many surprises. Jamie is a travel nurse that has accepted a position in a new place, new town. She rents a room in the home that includes smoke jumper Fitz, fire department engine chief Will, and air tanker pilot Maren. Jamie gets along great with everyone, including grumpy Fitz. However, intimate relationships are forbidden among the roommates and that creates so much slow burn friction. There is great word building and banter, and the best plot twist. The healing and growth has so much depth, this story touched me deeply. The audiobook was read perfectly also.

There’s an excitement for the unexpected whenever I read Jewel’s books, and this one was no different. I fell in love with the storyline and the characters from the first chapter. It’s a beautiful story of love and fate, loss and healing. Jaymes is like a ray of sunshine—funny, loyal, and intelligent—while Fitz is the grumpy firefighter with a tragic past and the biggest heart. The two of them together are unforgettable.
When Jaymes moves to a small town as a temporary traveling nurse, she ends up living with Fitz and two other roommates. As they try to fight off their attraction, their pasts tangle in ways they never predicted. As you fall in love with them, you also fall in love with the side characters. I adored every minute of this book. It’s the perfect read for this time of year, with the Montana winter backdrop.

Since Sunday Morning I have been obsessed with Jewel and this book here just solidified that.
There was so much brokenness here and it was beautifully wrapped up in a way that I did not expect. The love affair is so good and frustrating at the same time but once you understand the history, you learn to accept the pain.
My review is so late but if you take anything away its that YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.
The total twist in the end I was not expecting and it made it even better!
Cant wait for the series to continue.
* Roommates to Lovers
* Traveling nurse
* Smoke Jumper/Firefighter
* Slow Burn but totally worth it
* Grumpy/Sunshine

This is a good book. The two main characters are Jaymes and Fitz. Jaymes is a traveling nurse. Fitz is a smoke jumper. They meet when Jaymes travels to Montana for work. Fitz rents a room in Montana and Jaymes has rented a room in the same house. There is an instant attraction. Fitz is a loner. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

This is not my first book by Jewel E. Ann. Her books often strike me in sort of an odd way, which then resolves into an entrancing story (I will explain...) and this book was no exception. As this story begins, Jamie, a traveling psych nurse, has taken an assignment in Missoula, MT and moves in with three roommates, all involved in firefighting. House rule is that one is not allowed to sleep with any roommates. Fitz is the grouchy, loner smokejumper roommate, and in no time at all he and Jamie are taunting and pranking each other. The way the story begins and its early development feel very "jangly" to me - like a box of puzzle pieces from several puzzles that were thrown together accidentally. Having read Ms. Ann's work before, I knew to stick with the story and see what developed, and this novel followed that path. Having said all that, I have to say that I appreciate Ms. Ann's imagination and creativity; Jamie and Fitz eventually begin a relationship of sorts, but there are plenty of unseen twists and turns along the way. This was a very engaging story and I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
I was given an ARC and volunteered to provide a review.

From Air is an emotionally charged romance that blends heartbreak, passion, and personal growth against the backdrop of love's unpredictability. This novel follows Jamie, a traveling nurse navigating her grief after her mother’s death, and Fitz, a brooding smoke jumper with a grumpy exterior and a vulnerable heart.
The story begins with Jamie embarking on her journey of self-discovery and healing, choosing to travel across the U.S. while taking up temporary nursing assignments. Her first stop brings her to a shared living arrangement with three intriguing roommates, including Fitz. The initial "no sex between roommates" rule quickly dissolves in the face of their undeniable chemistry, leading to a fiery yet tender connection. However, Fitz's commitment issues and fear of attachment create a dynamic fraught with tension, making the love story all the more compelling.
Jewel E. Ann masterfully writes Fitz as a complex and layered character. His grumpiness adds charm, especially when juxtaposed with his growing soft spot for Jamie. Their interactions, equal parts banter, vulnerability, and passion, drive much of the narrative, creating a love story that feels authentic and deeply human. Jamie’s resilience and willingness to follow her heart despite the risks make her a relatable and inspiring heroine.
The plot twist mid-novel is a game-changer, injecting high-stakes drama that propels the story into unexpected emotional depths. This twist challenges the characters, asking whether fate or coincidence governs life's most pivotal moments.
One of the book's strengths lies in its exploration of themes like grief, personal growth, and the power of connection. The prose is evocative, drawing readers into both the romance and the inner turmoil of its characters. While the pacing occasionally lags during the quieter moments, the payoff is worth it, with a poignant ending that lingers in the heart.
Overall, From Air is a beautifully crafted romance that captures the messiness and magic of love. Fitz’s gruff charm and Jamie’s emotional journey make for an engaging read, with enough twists and turns to keep readers hooked.

This was my first book by @authorjeweleann and I can certainly say it will not be my last.
I was so enthralled with this book. Jaymes Andrews and Calvin Fitzgerald have my entire heart.
If you’re looking for a book with superior banter, angst, a little heartache, a huge twist, all while being a romance - this. Is. It.

The perfection that is this book!
We are brought a new series Wildfire by author Jewel E Anne and what a way to hit us. This hidden romance, age gap, roommate, grumpy/Sunshine was amazing. Once I got on a roll in this book I was unable to out it down. The roll of each characters, the plot twist and the emotions....I can't get over it. As always trust the process that this author takes, she might break your heart and turn you into a blubbering mess, but as always in the end it was well worth it

Once more Jewel E Ann has written the perfect story.
This is not just a romance story but an emotional rollercoaster. When the tears come, and trust me they will, don’t say you weren’t warned, you will need tissues.
From Air is a journey full of love, angst, heartbreak, hope and the road to being healed again.
I went in blind to this book and I’m so glad I did, I think spoilers would have been too much.
This story is a tragic yet beautiful reminder of what it means to love, lose, heal and love again.
Buckle up for this very emotional rollercoaster, you won’t regret it. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.

I listened and read this book…
Lines like this got me everytime…
She’s the girl who has taught me how to dream.
Calvin and James are amazing.. I could not get enough of their story… beautiful… incredible banter and chemistry and two broken people who are each other person… filled with twists and turns..
A top 2025 read! Thank you Jewel E Anne!

This book is outstanding! From Air is my first book by Jewel E. Ann, and it won't be my last. I am ALL IN. Jamie and Calvin's story took me on an emotional journey, and I loved every moment.
Jamie "Jaymes" Andrews, a traveling psych nurse, heads to Montana for her next assignment and ends up living with a group of firefighters, including Calvin "Fitz" Fitzgerald—a 35-year-old, broody, workaholic smoke jumper. There are strict house rules, but that doesn’t stop sparks from flying. What starts as teasing and playful banter quickly turns into something deeper. Fitz is married to his job and is not looking for love, but Jamie can't help but be drawn to him. They have amazing chemistry, and Jamie is determined to peel back Fitz's many layers. As they grow closer, past trauma and secrets revealed threaten to ruin it all.
I was completely invested in Jamie and Fitz's journey. The plot is perfect, and the twists and turns literally left me speechless. This story made me feel every emotion. I yelled, was shocked, cried, and swooned over the grumpy and broken Fitz. This book broke my heart, then put it back together. From Air is a forbidden slow-burn angsty romance with delicious steam, fun side characters, amazing characters with depth, and top-tier found family vibes. This book DELIVERED and checks all the boxes. From Air is beautifully written, and the story wraps up with a perfectly satisfying ending. This is a must-read/listen, and I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Narration:
Ada Sinclair and Nelson Hobbs perform this audiobook in dual-style narration. I am highly impressed with their captivating performances. They both put so much emotion into their portrayals of the characters and really brought them to life. This audiobook elevated my experience with the story.

Such a touching, emotional, and heartfelt story. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from Jewel E. Ann. She definitely knows how to tug at your heartstrings. I loved Jamie and Calvin (Fitz). My heart broke for both of them for different reasons. No one should have to go through the pain that they went through. Fate brought them into each other's lives for a reason. Would they be strong enough to accept that fate, or will they be left with the ashes of what could have been? I can't wait to read more from this series!

Why is it that Jewel E. Ann books always strike a chord with me? I simply loved this one. The characters were all relatable and I fell right into the storyline. Even though I saw some of the things coming, I still loved the story and would highly recommend it.
Put simply, this is the story about the sweet new girl who falls in love with the closed off and hard to reach fire fighter. Even though he has a tough exterior, she will melt his heart and he destroys hers a little along the way. It's a solid storyline with two damaged characters trying to figure it all out - - my favorite kind. I look forward to reading the next ones in the series!
Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy.
