This book definitely packs a lot of emotion with it.

I really enjoyed the extra twist in this book, though I was able to figure it out ahead of time.

Calvin and Jaymes have a very unique relationship, with a lot of sarcasm and joking, and at times it was hard to figure if they were being serious about certain things or not. This definitely led me as the reader a harder time seeing and feeling their chemistry.

Thank you Jewel E Ann, Valentine PR, Montlake and NetGalley for my copy of From Air. 🤍 I received this book for review, all opinions are my own and given freely.

Coming in at the 11th month absolutely swinging, From Air takes the trophy for my favorite book of 2024 yall. I knew from the first chapter that From Air would rank at the top of my list for this year but when I say this story is everything.. I mean it. Do not sleep on this book.

✨ T H E A N G S T ✨ is so delicious. This story is so addictive. I couldn’t stop reading. I finished this book in less than 24 hours. I could have easily finished it in one sitting had I not been pulled away ever so rudely for adult responsibilities.

But the plot twist?! THE PLOT TWIST. Heaven sakes. I literally screamed out. I had to go back and re-read a few pages because there was no possible way I just read what I read, right? Wrong! Holy cannoli! The way I was totally blindsided by the twist blew me away. I was literally ranting and raving to my husband in real time and texting my besties about it. To say I’m forcing this book down everyone’s throat is the Gods honest truth. I’m not sorry.

From Air is packed w smut, banter, found family, grief/comfort, age gap, friends to lovers, a dash of forbidden thrown in. A absolute and total masterpiece. A standing ovation for Jewel E Ann on this one.

From Air releases November 26! 🎉

This was the most emotional romance I’ve read in a while! I loved Fitz and Jamie’s evolution throughout the book. While I usually avoid such tragically emotional romances since I’ve had tragic things happen in real life and like to avoid, it was an extremely powerful read for me.

Fitz is a smoke jumper, AKA parachutes to remote wilderness fires and prevents them from getting bigger. Jamie is a traveling psych nurse and lands in Fitz’s town for her first gig. They are roommates and roommate rule #1? No f*cking your roommates (at home or not….hehe).

Their relationship is so strange to me, Fitz’s character is stormy and brooding but the interactions between him and Jamie are so confusing, fast paced and bantery at first but somehow they form a connection? I got vibes of lust in the beginning and not some “my person” connection vibes but maybe I read the context clues wrong?

Either way I was pleasantly surprised with this read! It’s a suspense/mysterious subplot romance with roommates to lovers trope. Both MC have extemely tragic histories so check your TW. Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for allowing me to ARC read this!!

SPICE: Low spice, very quickly rushed through and not much detail.

Fitz & Jamie – oh. my. heart. Grumpy x sunshine, enemies to lovers, age gap, found family – some of my favorite things. And all the ever-loving feels!! So, all the stars, of course. All. the. freaking. stars!!

Stars: 5/5
Spice: 3/5

Jamie is a travel nurse moving to Montana for her next nursing position. One of her roommates is smoke jumper Fitz – the grumpiest of grumps. And there’s really only one house rule – nothing more than friendship with a roommate. So what do they do when she’s the only one he seems to let in?

Oh my word, I loved this story so freaking much. Both of the characters had such tragic pasts, I couldn’t help but love them. Their banter was so much fun to read. This story was an absolute punch to the gut in the best of ways and had multiple “rip my heart right out” moments. It broke my heart and put it back together more than once. This is the second book I’ve read by Jewel E. Ann (the first was Sunday Morning), and it just solidified her place on my “if I need an emotional read, start here” author list. I can’t wait to read more from her! Highly recommend!

CW: Loss of a loved one, grief

I received an ARC copy of the book from Valentine PR and all thoughts are my own.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this latest novel by Jewel E Ann but was excited enough to dive in.

As a travelling nurse, Jamie is keen to experience life and work in places other than her native Florida.

I very quickly became completely ensnared by both the characters and the continual feeling that there was something in the background of Jamie and Fitz's past that could be earth shattering.

The development of the relationship between Fitz and Jamie is initially built on sarcasm and snark and the forbidden aspect adds a bit of additional mystery.

You will not be disappointed in this first novel in the new Wildfire series and i am certainly looking forward to what has to come.

Oh my goodness! This was one of those reads where I just knew it was destined for 5⭐️’s from the beginning, but then it just got better and better as it went, and jumped right into the category of a favorite read of the year. 🥰

I mean, just going back and looking at all my highlights had me tearing up all over again! 😭

The romance was so beautiful between the two MCs. From the “forbidden” aspect, to the tension, to the amaaaazing banter between the two (I was seriously laughing so much!! Truly top tier banter!) Fitz’s pain is so real and complicated, and Jamie is soooo patient. But then, when things got all 😱🤯 in the latter parts of the book?? I was feeling all the pain and love and just all of the emotions!

Seriously, I was expecting the romance, but the INTRIGUE?? Holy smokes! (Pun intended.) I literally *gasped*!

After two 5⭐️ reads, Jewel E. Ann has quickly become a new favorite author of mine, and I cannot wait to dive into her other books!

Thank you to Jewel E. Ann and @valentine_pr_ for providing me an early copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

the way i devoureddd this book??

oh my god i loved jaime and fitz so much 😭 their banter is delicious in every way. it’s a little dirty and they’re constantly teasing each other but i swear every single time they went back and forth, i was giggling and kicking my feet.

fitz is our grump in this book and he refuses to get close to anyone or fall in love because of his past but jaime changes that. he’s head over heels in love with her. it’s the one flame he can’t put out.

jaime is the sunshine that can’t be tied down. she’s young, and being isolated her entire life, she wants to travel for a little bit, hence travel nurse occupation. i loved that she and maren became fast friends. they have a friendship that all the girlies want and i’m jealous.

Jewel E. Ann is one of those authors that always seem to surprise me. And I just love that. Especially when you read so many romance stories as I do, her stories always have something about them I didn’t expect. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘From Air’, the first book in a new standalone series, I couldn’t sign up fast enough,

In ‘From Air’ we meet travel nurse Jamie Andrews. Jamie travelled for days before she arrives in Montana where she moves into a home with firefighter roommates. Things seem to be perfect. Two of Jamie’s roommates are really kind and welcoming, and then there is Calvin. Calvin might be handsome, but he is also rude and not a fan of socializing with other people. But from the moment Jamie and Calvin meet, there is something between them. Jamie is determined to get Calvin to open up to her. But Calvin has been hiding his past for a very long time.

Even after having read several books by Jewel E. Ann, she is still able to surprise me. And boy did she surprise me with this book. From the moment I started reading ‘From Air’ I was hooked. Jamie and Calvin’s banters where so damn funny. Those moments between them made me laugh a lot. Add some amazing chemistry and some twist and turns I didn’t see coming and this book was downright epic. I loved every single page and didn’t want to put it down.

Jamie’s character was my favorite. Not only because she is a nurse, my profession, but also because she just never let Calvin’s attitude bother her. She was able to look beyond the surface, and she was funny as hell.

From Air was an amazing read that is definitely going on my favorite reads of 2024 shelf. If you’re looking for a romance story that is a bit different.. but still filled with romance and steamy moments.. then this one is for you.

Ohmigoodness! I laughed, cried, and went through all the fires with Jamie and Fitz. This was such a great read. Jewel E Ann manages to write not just a romance but a journey with a couple who have to navigate pasts and presents to get to the HEA. Every book I read from her has a uniqueness that I don't find in other books. Even though there are tropes, she adds her fingerprint, bringing out the gem of her creation. Jamie and Fitz are opposites with similar pasts that will rock both worlds. This book will leave you crying and gasping as everything is revealed, but it is all worth the journey. I know there will be a second book, and I cannot wait for it because I want to touch Jamie and Fitz once more to know they are living their HEA. Yeah, I love them that much, and I am not ready to say goodbye to them yet.

Thank you, NetGalley and Montlake, for the eArc. These opinions are mine.

Jewel E Ann is one of my go-to authors when I want a deeper, highly emotional read. This story is a prime example of why you won’t go wrong with her books. These characters are so complex and will have you rooting for them both individually and in their relationship. The plot is well timed with a fair amount of suspense lingering that will keep you engaged throughout. I am definitely going to be hanging around for this series as I’m very interested in the profession represented and can’t wait to read more!

There is something uniquely beautiful about Jewel's writing, whether it be in her more thriller-esque books or her angsty slow burns. This was beautiful, and the poignancy throughout was addictive. She is not afraid for her characters to do the wrong thing, to say the wrong thing, to be flawed and human - that makes them so brilliant.

Nurse Jamie moves across the country for a six-month nursing job and finds the grumpy, closed-off exterior of her grumpy housemate, Calvin, an irresistible lure. Getting involved could have them thrown out, and besides, Calvin is anti-commitment, anti-attachment, anti-Jamie. Or is it all just a wall waiting for Jamie to knock down?

Read immediately. Be ready to curse Calvin at the same time as wanting to hold him close. Roll on the slow-burn!

This one left me swooning, gasping and broke my heart a time or two, but never failed to fix it all in the end. Jaymes is a traveling nurse set on seeing the world and ends up at a house with three other roommates. The only rule is to not "date" roommates which of course seems easy, until fate steps in and has other plans for you. And when I say fate, I mean. FATE. When you read a Jewel E Ann Book, you know you will get some sort of magic and believe me there is magic here.
Calvin Fitzgerald is broody, unapproachable and off limits, but Jaymes sees a side of him that he doesn't show others. He doesn't want a future with anyone, but little by little Jaymes gets under his skin give him a glimpse of what could be if he let himself open up.
I can't give too much away here because, you just have to read it to understand the intricacies we are dealing with here. The lines woven through fate here that cross and interconnect. There was one part that made me irrevocably sad, but I do understand grief makes you probably not give the best life advice when you are in the throes of it. I do think life sends you the things you need the most even if you don't believe it and that is exactly what happened here.
Thank you to JEA for an early copy of this amazing read.

Jewel has a way of putting words to a page that brings so much life and emotion to the story and characters. Jaymes and Fitz bring so much passion to this story, that it just pulls you in to see how it ends.

Jaymes is everything you want in a FMC, she is strong and at the same time has a vulnerable side to her. She lost her mom two years previously and is working as a traveling psych nurse so she can explore who she is and the world around her. The last thing she expected was to discover secrets from her past.

Fitz was such a complicated MMC. He has shut himself off from everyone and lived with his grief for years. When his new roommate moved in, she brings a spark of life to him that he can’t resist. The banter between these two was amazing.

Omg this story was FANTASTIC. Had me laughing, sad, angry.. all the emotions at the same time. Once I started, I was hooked.. I LOVED Fitz, my heart broke for him but you just can't help but to love him anyways. And Jaymes!!! She was happiness & positivity personified lol I was drawn to her personality from the start. This book had me on edge the whole time & that PLOT TWIST blew my mind!! This is such an amazing story, you can't help but empathize with the characters and hurt with them as well. I would definitely recommend this read. If you are looking to have a good laugh & have your emotions all over the place at the same time (because, yes my friend, that will happen) then I suggest you read this! Can't wait for what's next! 💕💕💕

The smoke was thick in the air as she covered her eyes and tried to see through the haze. The sirens were loud, screaming through the late evening quiet as they raced toward the fire. She just needs a glimpse, something to know that he is all right, and then she spots him.

From Air is a dual POV romance following Jaymes and Calvin. Jaymes is a traveling nurse who moves to Montana and gets to know her new roommates (including the grumpy Calvin). Calvin is a smoke jumper with a haunting past. They butt heads immediately but things start to thaw between them.

It took me a little bit to get into this story. I wasn’t connecting with the characters right away. But then Jewel E. Ann worked her magic and once again penned a heartfelt story I didn’t want to put down. Jaymes and Calvin’s story was intense, sweeping, consuming, and full of tough situations to navigate and I was so glad to read about them. I love Jewel’s writing and want to read everything she writes!

If you love age gap, enemies to lovers, and forced proximity romances and found family stories… read this one!

From Air ♾️ Jewel E. Ann

I wasn’t expecting to take such a tumulus ride of such deep love, grief & angst. 5/5 stars here 👋🏼

There was this lingering “what’s going to happen next” playing on repeat in the background as I read this entire book, it was magical.

Calvin Fitzgerald & Jaymes Andrew’s are magical together.

Their love was explosive, grief catatonic but wow the twists this story delivered packed a punch.

I guess that’s what happens when a stone cold smoke jumper with a secret backstory becomes roommates with the psychiatric travel nurse.

Thank you valentine PR for this arc ; truly so excited to see what else this author has to say ♾️

From Air still gives me chills thinking about it 12 hours after finishing, it's THAT KIND OF BOOK. One that you will want a copy of on your shelf to reread as a comfort.

Jamie ventures out of Miami, Florida and into snowy Montana, deciding to live with three firefighters on her first ever traveling nurse assignment. She loves her job, her horoscope readings and everyone she meets. But she can't seem to figure out Calvin Fitzgerald, the grumpy allusive smoke jumper who is ten years older than her. Set to become friends with him, she learns that friends isn't in his vocabulary but will he finally open up to someone? Fitz has a troubled past, one that he keeps close to his chest, not even letting his roommates know what is hiding behind his cool act. He says he'll never fall in love, never let anyone close to him again. So what is Jamie doing trying to make him rethink every single one of his life choices?

Set aside time to read From Air because trust me, you will want to BINGE this dual point of view masterpiece. When I started, I couldn't stop as I was OBSESSED with the banter, tension and will they/won't they vibes coming HOT off the page from Jamie and Fitz. I thought I guessed what was going to happen and could not be further from the truth with what was revealed. Jewel has proved herself to now be an auto buy author from me, and I can not wait for the next from the Wildfire series.

Overall I enjoyed this. Witty humorous banter, a love that changes you and makes you do things you vowed never to do, and so much angsty emotion with impossible choices.

The beginning was kind of slow. Slow in a way that it didn't really sound like the authors voice I've come to know, but something a little more basic. The connection between Jamie and Fitz wasn't there right away. It took a bit to convince me that these two "zinged" right away for each other, especially considering Fitz's personality and track record.

Once the story settled in, I was able to enjoy their story, the forbidden nature, the mysterious secrets of Fitz's past, and Jamie's need to fix him and make him hers.

The twist was interesting. On one hand I kind of felt like it was too much, almost just for shock value because what are the chances? However, c'est la vie, stranger things have happened and sometimes life indeed seems cruel. Definitely packed an emotional punch.

As I said, overall I liked it. Not my favorite book by this author but when she's written some of my favorites it's hard to write a favorite book every time.
