Jewel E. Ann always knows how to hit a home run with each new read she delivers. From Air is the first book in a new series, Wildfire, and it is a story that is emotional, funny, and sweet all wrapped in this page turner that can't be put down. First, we have Calvin Fitzgerald, a broody fireman that tries to keep to himself, then there is Jaymes Andrews, a nurse who is seeking her own adventure away from home, and finally we get to watch these two and their slow burn of a relationship develop over time. Their chemistry sparks when they are together but as always everything can't be picture perfect, and Ms. Ann loves to throw us readers twists and turns like we never expected. Be ready for the read of your lives from this author, for the sweet giggles, the emotional teardrops and the big grin we always love to have at the end of a good read. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

This was my first book by Jewel E. Ann and it will not be my last. The amount of banter, tension, and emotion in this book was nothing short of incredible. The plot twist was incredible and had me sitting here with my jaw on the floor. The connection between Calvin and Jamie had me hooked. They were perfect together.
Thank you so much to Valentine PR and Jewel E. Ann for this ARC.

This was my first introduction to Jewel E. Ann’s books, and I believe it was a very successful experience. I enjoyed the humor, the chemistry between the characters, the dual POV, and the brilliant plot with a perfectly timed reveal of the main twist. I especially loved how I managed to predict what would happen next, but only “a moment” before the main character realized it. The description of the heroine’s first flight experience truly struck a chord, as it captured all the emotions I felt when I flew for the first time this year.
This story follows Jamie, a psychiatric nurse searching for her place in the world, and Calvin — a grumpy, mysterious smokejumper with a traumatic past. Whom fate brought together to heal their wounded hearts.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves Nora Roberts’ Chasing Fire, which also features smokejumpers, as well as to fans of the firefighter movie Only the Brave, based on true events.
Tropes:
- traveling nurse & firefighter (smokejumper)
- grumpy & sunshine
- roommates to lovers
- forced proximity
- roommates
- age gap (he’s 35, she’s 25)
- friends with benefits
- found family
- open door
- dual POV
I can’t wait to read the next books in the series about other characters.

Jewel E Ann has never written anything less than a five star read. The way she builds chemistry, tension, and love between her characters has me at the end of my seat waiting for them to get together. Fitz and Jamie were no different. Their entire relationship is built on THE best banter, and I was entranced immediately in the enigma that is Calvin Fitzgerald. I loved the firefighter/nurse storyline here, especially as a nurse that jokes about this kind of relationship often. I also loved the found family of Will, Maren, and Mel, and how they all rib each other so much. It’s so relatable to all of my closest friendships, and it made me feel like I was reading about my friend group. These characters are so real and relatable all around, and I love these two together so much.

Jewel E Ann can not write a bad book - I am convinced. While I’ve only read two of her books so far, they have both been amazing. “From Air” is astounding. Jaymes and Calvin’s story is full of banter, friendship, love, heartache, and so much more. This book made me laugh, angry, sad, and even cry. I promise you that if you read this book you will not regret it.
“Our love is Magic” ✨🥹🫶🏻

This was my first Jewel E Ann book. She’s been on my TBR because I find most of her covers are gorgeous so I needed to check them out.
This book was absolutely phenomenal. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this engrossed in a story. The writing was beautiful- I lost count of how many highlights I made but there were so many parts I felt I needed to remember.
I loved everything about Jaymes and Fitz. Their banter was so on point and I loved how so many of their jokes continued throughout the whole book. The spice was perfect and didn’t take away from the story.
I was NOT expecting the plot twist. It was so well done. The end had me in tears. I feel like I could start over right now and be just as in love reading it a second time.

From Air is an emotional love story between Jaime and Fitz. She's a travel nurse on assignment in Montana and Fitz is a smoke jumper and one of he roommates. They have an instant attraction towards each other but fight it. They become friends and each other's person. That soon moves to more but neither wants to admit it's more than a physical relationship. Both have lots of family trauma and to heal from but can they? Will they be able to be together and love the other and themselves as they want?

This was addicting.
Once I started- I couldn’t stop.
The banter and tension was everything- this was emotional and so heartfelt but had amazing moments of lightness and laughter.
This was my first Jewel book but it will certainly not be my last

From Air is an emotional and beautiful love story. If you’ve read anything by Jewel E. Ann then you know to expect this. My feelings were all over the place, laughing, crying tears of both sadness and happiness.
What Calvin(Fitz) went through with what happened to his family was heartbreaking, I totally get how he acts.
Jamie had her own heartbreaking story and it even got worse, you’ll know when you get to that part. So two broken people that come together and heal each other’s hearts.
This is one of my favorite books I’ve read this year.

5 ⭐ 3 🌶️
That was so dang good. This was my first time reading Jewel, but it absolutely won't be my last. This was everything I was expecting from her; heartbreaking, angsty and beautiful. My heart was aching so hard for these characters and at one point I wasn't sure they were going to make it work, but they did and it was wonderful.
I really loved how Jaymes and Calvin's relationship progressed. The beginning of this story was so fun and filled with banter and casual spicy times, but it had this hint of darkness that kept you wondering... Then things started to come out and pieces started getting put together and my jaw started dropping. I was so engrossed and couldn't out it down as I waited for these two to figure out what to do with their love and their lives...
I'm so excited for the rest of this series. Maren is up next and I can't wait to see what Jewel has in store for her.

Absolutely loved this one — no notes. Another 5 star read from Jewel, just when I think she won’t be able to outdo herself, she proves me wrong!

“She’s the fire I will never control.”
“You’re my best person.”
“Grief isn’t an anchor to the past, it’s a thief of the future.”
Calvin “Fitz” Fitzgerald is a wildland firefighter with haunting past. As a smoke jumper, Calvin has devoted his life to serving others while assuming all risks involved. He has written off having a wife and kids, determined to never leave a family behind in the event he doesn’t make it home. He is known to be direct and honest while being well respected by friends. Calvin is surprised when he arrives home from work to meet his newest roommate, Jamie. She’s a travel nurse on assignment in Missoula, Montana and ten years his junior. With a troubling story of her own, a spark unexpectedly ignites between the two. It is unknown if Calvin and Jamie will burn out of control or if they will be able to contain the blaze for its too late.
From Air is… EVERYTHING! There is literally nothing better than watching a man who has worked so hard to build walls around his heart fall in love. Love is hard, it requires patience and sacrifices. This is a story of two broken people and the hell they must go through in order to finally outrun their pasts and find love. I laughed, I cried, and at times I wanted to throw this book across the room. This is not only a love story but a story of healing and the internal battles that it requires. Jewel E. Ann has quickly become a favorite of mine, she writes the hell out of a story! I cannot recommend From Air enough, infinity stars! This is a book you will not be able to put down. I was literally holding my breath for the last 10 pages!! From Air is a MUST READ!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH JEWEL E ANN, Valentine pr, and NETGALLEY!!

"I’m Jaymes Andrews. You can call me Jamie or Wretched Woman Who Parks in the Wrong Spot. Whatever works.”
I just love the way Jewel gets right to the point. Her books are always so easy to get into!! Banter right off the bat, is exactly what I love and need 😂❤️ BANTER GALORE, might I add, not just between the main characters, but also with/between their 2 other roommates 🥰
[Side note: I LOVE WILL 🫶]
More review to come soon.... stay tuned!! 😍😍😍

All the stars for this amazing story. I don't have adequate words to express how much I love this book. Jewel E. Ann writes the most beautiful and addictive stories, and this is top tier.
Jaymes "Jamie" Andrews is a travel nurse, landing in Montana. Calvin "Fitz" Fitzgerald is one of her three roommates. She is instantly drawn to his grumpy, antisocial attitude. According to her other roommates, Fitz is broken...and she feels the need to fix him before she leaves to her next work adventure.
Jamie breaks Fitz down little by little until she becomes "his person." I love his character so much, how he showed how much he cared with his actions when he couldn't say the words. Plus, their banter is amazing.
Their story is emotional, angsty and just beautiful.
Read this book on release day!

Thank you to Montlake, Valentine PR and the author for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is my second Jewel E. Ann book and again, it did not disappoint! I am rounding my stars up from a 4.5. The storyline was so thick and intertwining. It broke my heart at points, yet made me smile. I loved the bits of banter, the steamy scenes, and the overall development of the characters.
Jamie is a badass and she is definitely one of my favorite characters in this book. She moves in with a bunch of firefighters (you have to be tough as nails), she works as a psychiatric nurse, and she falls for the most difficult boy, Fitz. They both have their trauma and trauma bonded well. There was lots of tension and it was a rollercoaster journey, but that made the plot so much better!
I was here for the age gap, the firefighter grumpy MMC, forced proximity, found family, and more! Highly recommend this first book of a new series! 👏🏻

Jewel E. Ann has quickly become a “must read” author for me, and this book almost leaves me without words to say much I loved it. There is something about Fitz and Jaymes love story that made it nearly impossible to stop reading. Jaymes has her heart open to the world, and Fitz refuses to let anyone even know he has one still beating. This is spoiler free, so I will keep this brief for fear of spilling too much. There are twists and turns. There is a love that is undeniable. There is an age gap that honestly didn’t seem to exist on the pages, as they just made sense together. I was rooting so hard for Fitz and Jaymes to get a happy ever after or even just a good life together. I shouted, sighed, laughed. All I can say is if you love romance books, this is one you won’t want to skip.

I don’t know where to begin… Jewel E. Ann’s latest novel, From Air, is absolutely charming and completely engrossing from the first page to the last. The characters feel so real. The banter is fun. The storyline has plenty of twists and surprises.
I love the main characters, Jamie and Calvin (Fitz). They, along with Maren and Will, are roommates, and the main house rule is no fraternizing with roommates. Jamie is a travelling nurse, so her tenure in the house is limited. Calvin, Maren and Will are all firefighters who are stationed in Missoula, MT. The four roommates become fast friends, and Jamie and Calvin fight their obvious attraction to one another (house rules remember). Their banter is fun and a bit flirty. I really enjoyed the slow-burn of their relationship. I loved the roommate humor and roommate banter as well.
Along their journey, both Jamie and Calvin encounter some big surprises and twists that test their friendship and attraction. In her characteristic way, author Jewel E. Ann eviscerates her readers’ (and characters’) hearts before piecing them back together with the skill of a cardiac surgeon. Jamie and Calvin’s emotional vulnerability is heart wrenching and completely sucked me into their vortex.
Don’t be mistaken that From Air is just a fun, flirty firefighter romance. Baked into Jamie and Fitz’ story are fine layers of messages about life after loss, forgiveness, and family. Fun, flirty, hot, sexy and meaningful...I can't think of anything more I need from a book.
I can't wait to jump into the next book in the series!

Oh my heart. I’m so emotional. Need a minute to collect my thoughts.
I’m truly not sure what to say, I’m trying to stay away from giving any spoilers. My best advice, go in blind like I did.
Jamie & Calvin (Fitz) gutted me, and then put me back together again.
It’s a slow burn. Both have suffered tragic losses and been shaped by experiences in their youth. Their characters are slowly revealed to us, while they are getting to know each other on the page. They have so much love to give and obstacles to overcome. The question throughout is, can they do that and come out whole on the other side? It’s a great story with plenty of steamy moments.
I recommend checking the author’s notes and trigger warnings.
I’m giving this 4.5 stars only because there were still some lingering questions I would have liked to get answered.

eARC review of From Air by @authorjeweleann
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first read by Jewel. E. Ann and I was blown away. I was INVESTED from the beginning and didn't want to put the book down.
The banter between Jaymes and Fitz was top-tier and had me laughing the whole way through. The way these two bounce off each other is entertaining and comical. I I was as quick with my comebacks as Jaymes is! I was up until who knows what time finishing this as I just could not put it down. My 'just one more chapter' turned into finishing the book and then lying there not sure what to do with myself (because of course I couldn't sleep after that!).
I laughed, I cried, I swooned, and I fell in love with their story, and the obstacles they faced before they could finally be together.
I will definitely be reading more by Jewel. E. Ann. After this masterpiece, I want more emotional trauma, nose blocked from crying and being unable to breathe!!
Thank you so much to @authorjeweleann and @valentine_pr_ for a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review!

Jaymes Andrews is the best mistake I’ve ever made. And if I had it to do over, I wouldn’t change a thing.
