Innovative Internal Communication: How Creativity, Curiosity, and Technology Can Create Lasting Impact by Joanna Parsons is a practical guide for internal communications professionals looking to evolve beyond traditional methods. The book focuses on how creativity, an innovation mindset, and technology can revolutionize internal communication, boost employee engagement, and contribute to business success. What stands out is its blend of theory and actionable advice using psychology and behavioral science to maximize impact, while also emphasizing the importance of maintaining a human touch alongside new technologies. It's a valuable resource for anyone in communications, especially those aiming to stay ahead of changing employee expectations and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

The book presents a broad and somewhat generic approach to the field, often stretching common topics to connect them with internal communication. While suitable for newcomers, the book's examples feel outdated if you’ve read a few books on innovation, and it leans rather heavily into self-help themes like productivity and external pressure. In my opinion these chapters add little value to the core subject. Some concepts presented as controversial or surprising fall flat, offering nothing particularly novel. Ultimately, it feels like a rehash of ideas from growth mindset and standard innovation literature, without much fresh insight
