Caitlin Weaver is a force to be reckoned with! I have read both of her novels, and thoroughly enjoyed and savored each of them. She has such a talent for creating characters with depth, flaws, likeability, and rawness. Huge praise fror 'Things We Never Say'. Centred around 3 women whose children all attend the same school; these women are brought together to plan a school function. The story is told through the lens of each woman, all holding onto shameful secrets that they cannot bring themselves to share. It is raw and draws parallels to real life experiences that make it relatable for all women. Throw in a scandal or 2, and you have yourself a making of a contemporary thriller. Keep an eye out for Weaver; her writing style is top notch for this genre. Will certainly be reading all of her novels in the future. A page turner from the start! 3 women, 3 fates, 3 lives intertwined. The only thing these three women have in common is their children all attend the same prestigious school in Atlanta, the Civitas Academy.

Anna is the headmaster's wife who wants to get back into a law career now that her daughter is older but she must hide her new ventures because her husband is controlling.

Maggie is a relationship therapist who is overworked and married to a dentist but their relationship recently has been struggling and awkward.

Rhea came from nothing and now is the PTA president at the school but she is hiding a secret from her past that might come back and find her in her new life.

When these three women are thrown together to work on organizing the centennial gala for the Civitas Academy, they put aside past prejudices and become confidants but when scandal threatens to become exposed, how will they be able to handle it when all their crafted lives hang in the balance and could be destroyed by the truth?

I was absorbed in this book from the start. Each chapter is from a different women's perspective and you are turning pages as fast as you can to get more information to see what happens next. It was cleverly crafted to give you the maximum sucker punch at just the exact time to make you continue reading on.

A very enjoyable thriller that was suspenseful and engaging!

Things We Never Say is the story of 3 mothers thrown together to work on a PTA project, with the main aim of just getting through it. However, as the story develops and we learn of the challenges each woman faces, we discover Rhea, Maggie and Anna are also each victims to their own husbands.

Anna is the principal's wife, respectful of his position and authority but now empowered to step out in to her own light. Maggie, a sex therapist, is not practicing what she preaches. And Rhea, the outwardly wealthy, well put together soccer-mom whos past, and present, comes back to haunt her.

As each one lets their facade drop ever so slightly, we get to watch and be swept away with the friendship they develop.

Weaver did a great job of exploring 3 different marriage dynamics, and 3 different ways of parenting, and I found myself cheering on each female character.

Reading this story for the first time, I noticed a few, what I would call plot holes *SPOILER ALERTS*
- Why would Anna's husband leave the papers in the room she's in?
- There was never any remorse/repercussions to Pen's actions.
- Rhea's first son seemed to be somewhat of a red herring, not fully explored or developed.

In addition to these niggles, by biggest bugbear was that the story ended exactly where it should have begun. I closed the book and said, "WHAT?" (and not in a good way). I'm going to need to know exactly what happened after the book ended.

This is a book about relationships, secrets and scandal, and is a real page turner! What can I say? Such a fantastic read!

I particularly enjoyed Anna's backstory which I thought was really well written.

I loved it so much that I have just purchased another of Caitlin Weavers books!

I managed to read this within 24 hours. I couldn’t put it down. I was hooked from the very beginning. There is definitely plenty of suspense as the plot navigates the highs and lows of the lives of Anna, Rhea and Maggie. I found myself to have moments of sympathy and becoming involved and wanting to talk to my kindle to tell them what is happening to them! The storyline builds well and progresses to a good ending overall.

Hard to read in parts due to the topic of domestic abuse but it really made you route for her to get away. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

I loved it, for me this was a five star read! The chapters alternated between the perspectives of Anna, Maggie and Reah - each a mother and wife with their own secrets. I liked how they slowly grew into a close group of friends who supported each other. Some scenes were really hard to read though, so make sure to read the trigger warnings before you pick it up.

I was completely taken into the story line of this book. I couldn’t break apart from an overnight read.
I really enjoyed the story of Anna and all the terrible things she had to endure in silence and the isolation she experienced as a tactic to control her by Jerry, her husband.
I also loved the tale of real friendships they develop from the most unexpected places. It’s amazing how you can be so ‘yourself’ around certain people and not others.
The story of the teens and their daily lives intertwined with their parents was a nice one as a preview to teenage angst I can preview in my future.

The novel covers how we judge people by how they look and act, like judging a book by its cover. Things are not always what they seem to be. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. "Things We Never Say", gave me a lot to think about. I could personally relate to what one of the woman had been going through her entire life and it made the story so much more interesting for me.

The author, Caitlin Weaver portrayed this story and the characters in such a way you felt like you wanted to reach into the book and tell the three woman they would be okay. Now that's a great writer! I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

Trigger warning: the theme of domestic violence by one of the main characters was hard to read but also left you rooting for Anna as she planned her escape. Overall a great story about friendship and finding the courage to do what’s right

I thoroughly enjoyed this entire story. What a powerful set of women. I’m so impressed with the feelings that were pulled from you for each woman in turn while still being able to form opinions on their character. This was a wonderful read!

As in the past, I enjoy Caitlin Weaver’s writing style. She has a way of ratcheting up the tension just a little at a time. And with the conclusion like that, I was cheering the women on. Ms Weaver’s writing is clear and concise and leads to an enjoyable read. I can’t wait to see where she can take me next. If you want a slow burn psychological thriller, this is the one for you.

In Things We Never Say you will read about three women and their families. It takes place in Atlanta Georgia. The focus of the book is on the three women and their budding friendship. The story starts at an exclusive private school for the very wealthy, called Civitas, unless you are one of the lucky children and have a scholarship to get in. Jerry Armstrong is the headmaster of the school and he doesn't take his job lightly. He has a wife and a daughter. His wife is Anna Armstrong and she went to law school and when they moved to Georgia she took the bar so she could practice once they were settled. They have a daughter named who is thirteen and her name is Farrah.

Lets meet Rhea Connelly, she has two boys Will and Zane and her husband Brooks. Brooks is CEO of cyber security firm. Rhea is the schools PAP which stands for parent association president. She is in charge of doing everything from fund raising to working with all the families to make sure they are all pulling their weight. Each family has to volunteer ten hours a school year. Right now Rhea has to put together a group of ladies to plan the Gala for the biggest fund raising event of the school year. It is a black tie event and she is at the first PA meeting of the year asking for volunteers to help plan the Gala. She, of course raises her hand, Anna raises her hand, and one other woman raises her hand, her name is Maggie Reed and she just stumbled in all sweaty and announcing that she ran here thinking she was closer to the school than she was.

Maggie Reed, actually doctor Maggie Reed, she has one daughter named Penelope but they call her Pen. Her husband is Dan and he is a dentist.
Maggie is a marriage therapist and lets just put it this way secrets are all over in this book!

This book is about secrets and families and sisterhood. Finding the friendships that you didn't even know you need or you wanted or you were missing!

I cried.I laughed,I had to put this book down and walk away from it only to really want to hurry back and want to know what happens next. I loved this book so much!

It had been a long time since I read a book I couldn’t put down. As soon as I started Things We Never Say I was instantly hooked! The elite private school was an intriguing setting and I loved all the families and their drama. I came to love all three of the main characters Rhea, Anna, and Maggie. I was so invested in their stories and wishing happiness for all their families. This book is definitely in my top 5 for the year 2024 and I’ll be recommending it to everyone!

Caitlin Weaver has quickly become an auto-buy author for me, and this book as expected did not disappoint! Loved how the story panned out and how the characters were written. She has a knack for writing amazing characters which are complex but relatable too. You would always find yourself rooting for them. Loved this one and definitely would recommend!

This is a story about 3 very different women who end up becoming good friends when they bond over some pretty suspicious activity they discovered.

The women’s lives look perfect from the outside, but nothing is at it appears to be. Between their secret mission and learning more about each other’s lives, they create a thick as thieves friendship.

This is the second book I’ve read by Weaver, and she nailed it once again. I’m so glad I discovered her and anticipate her next book. Great writing and a definite page turner.

I actually enjoyed reading each of the 3 main characters lives throughout the book and their perspectives. Anna was my favourite.

The drama/mystery book that kept unfolding with new craziness. Such a fun read. I would definitely recommend if you are into domestic drama/mystery.
