What a ride! Millie works for a woman who would give Miranda Priestley a run for her money, but she just needs to stick it out a little bit longer. Until she is encouraged to connect the dots and realises that every time her boss travels for work, a person in that location mysteriously dies. Could Millie's boss be killing them?
This book was brilliantly twisty and I was completely hooked. There were reveals and drama and it was just generally a very exciting read. Loved it!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Sarah Bonner’s How to Slay at Work delivers a darkly funny, twist-filled ride through the world of corporate intrigue. With Millie’s demanding boss Freya suspected of being a serial killer, the dual perspectives—Millie’s investigation and Freya’s own twisted mind—create a gripping narrative that keeps you on your toes. The fast-paced plot, full of sharp humor and unexpected twists, makes this a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers with a corporate edge.
While the chaotic pacing and scattered writing didn’t fully click with me, the inventive concept and dual perspectives are compelling and add depth to the suspense. If you enjoy dark humor and intricate mysteries set against a corporate backdrop, this book is worth diving into.

Its about a terrible boss with irrational requests. Millie doesn't realize what she has gotten herself into when she was forced to take on a new role in the office. Millie started looking into the deaths of individuals when her boss was in the area. Millie was sent message that kept her researching. Millie gets sent on a roller coaster of events. There is so many twists and turns you really have no idea what is coming next. My favorite part of the book was how it shows you the point of view from each of the main characters. The author has found a way to make gasp in shock and laugh in the next moment! I wish the major events in the books were more detailed it would add more to the story.

Just finished this thrilling read! 😍📚 Imagine The Devil Wears Prada meets How to Kill Men and Get Away With It! 🌟✨ Millie ends up working with Freya, the Miranda Priestly of a beauty company, and things get wild from there! 💄😱 An anonymous text, hidden secrets, and lots of surprises kept me hooked! 📱🔍 A must-read that's funny and fast-paced! 💫👌

devil wears prada meets sharon bolton’s the pact and i devoured every single word. this was BRILLIANT
Sarah bonner is one to watch

“How to Slay at Work” has a promising concept: secret assassin boss. But it was really not my sort of novel. Both main characters are pretty unlikable and the writing overall felt so scattered and jumbled. I just couldn’t get into the story. It was pretty fast paced which possibly was some of the problem but it felt like a ADHD mind dump sometimes. The idea and twists were ok but felt very surface to me.

I really enjoyed Her Perfect Twin and Her Sweet Revenge so was eager to read this.
Ive read plenty of darkly humorous female vigilante k*ller thrillers, from Sweet Pea to Pretty Evil, How To Slay At Work puts a new spin of it as main Character Millie suspects her boss Freya of being the psycho k*ller.
I really enjoyed it, fast-flowing with a good complexity, plenty of twists and a frequent flip-flopping of who’s plotting what against who. Fans of First Lie Wins will love it.

If you like mystery and are looking for a unique story - this is the book for you! What a creative, fun and dark story.
I usually can predict endings, and this book had so many twists! The ending was really good, as throughout the story I found myself really wanting more character background and was happy to learn more at the end.
Quick summary: Millie has to work for a cold heart bitch boss, but she has to if she wants to climb the corporate ladder. On a work trip Millie sees her boss scale a building and learns of a death the following morning. Investigation leads to more questions and without spoilers, it’s definitely not what you think….
Overall this is a great quick read, with different POVs (which I personally, love)

How to Slay at Work is a unique addition to the mystery genre, bringing in corporate culture with women’s fiction and, yes, a lot of mystery.
Millie has a truly insufferable boss in Freya but when her coworker quits she sees her boss from an even more sinister angle as she quickly suspects she’s dealing with a serial killer. While Millie grew up in foster care and has a pretty traumatic past of her own, what she finds out about Freya’s is fascinating and can almost explain why Freya is the way she is - at work and in her personal life. This book is a story that speaks to any woman who has worked in a corporation, especially with women who might help lift others but end up only lifting themselves. In addition, it’s a strong mystery with some twists I didn’t anticipate and an ending I wasn’t ready for.
Less funny, though extremely entertaining with a tight plot, I recommend this for anyone who is a little bored of the usual mystery and wants to dive deeper into the minds of killers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the eARC.
Millies boss is a bitch. But she’s also an icon. She literally slays.
When Millie gets promoted she now has to work closely with her extremely demanding boss. Things starts out as she would have thought, a lot of work and a lot of stress, but everything changes when she sees Freya acting very suspicious at a work trip. As Millie starts to unravel Freyas secrets she uncovers something she never thought could be true. She knows her boss is a stone cold bitch but could she really be a stone cold killer as well?
Now this is how you write an entertaining thriller with lots of twists and turns. Did I think the book would end how it did? No, not really.
At first I was a bit disappointed in how we never got any backstory’s of the characters but in the end I totally get why. The author did a great job letting us readers guess what could be going on at all times before delivering a conclusion that really exceeded my expectations.
The chapters are short and fast paced which makes it almost difficult to put down. Love it.
This was right up my alley and I will definitely keep my eye out for more that the author puts out.

When your boss is at a conference in a city where there's a suspicious death, it's unlucky. If it happens twice, it's odd. But when she's in the same city at the same time as a third unexplained death . . .Could she be a stone-cold killer?! Great read!! I thought for some reason this book would be a little to quirky and cozy mystery for me but I really enjoyed reading this book! I was pleasantly surprised! This book had suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery, a fantastic who done it and some really crazy twists and turns! The story was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Millie dislikes her boss, Freya, who is rude and demanding. While on a business trip, she catches Freya behaving suspiciously. She investigates and a pattern emerges of men dying in cities where Freya is travelling. Why is Freya taking these men down?
This was a quirky and easy read with good doses of humour and twists that were revealed cleverly.

This was a fun read full of lots of twists and surprises throughout the book. It was The Devil Wears Prada meets Sweetpea, but with a explosive ending where your not quite sure what's going to happen until the very end. Bonner made me like the psycho boss bitch and she ended up being my favourite character, not sure what that says about me!

A real fun read.
Murders, twists and totally hilarious.
Take this one on holiday!
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

This was a fun read, especially as someone who has also had a boss that was a little....off. There were fun twists and a lot of clever moments. This was easily one of the best books I've read this year so far.

'How to Slay at Work' is a brilliantly dark story of murder and revenge from Sarah Bonner- I couldn't read it quickly enough!
Millie has been promoted in her role at fashion and make up brand Serendipity, following the quick exit of predecessor Sam. Millie knows that the promotion will bring countless demands from their ever demanding boss Freya, but is willing to give 110% so that she can succeed in the company. On their first overseas trip, Millie spots Freya behaving totally out of character, scaling the balconies of their hotel from the outside - and when she finds out that there has been a suspicious death in the building she starts questioning Freya's actions. This is soon followed by an anonymous text telling Millie to look at other deaths - and so her investigation begins.
Some of the sections of the book are told from Millie's perspective, others from Freya's- and I really liked how the contrasting viewpoints added to a bigger picture of what was going on.
The characters are great fun to read about, the settings are fabulously glamorous and the plot races along at a brilliant speed with some fantastic twists and moments that stop you in your tracks. Well worth a read!

OMG, this was absolutely hilarious, ingenious, and full of unexpected twists and turns. I loved it. I can’t remember the last time I read such quality writing; it was such an excellent read.
Millie had always been aware that her boss, Freya, was a psycho. But when Millie is on a business trip, she sees things that she feels are fishy concerning her boss. Hence, she decides to get to the bottom of the issue. From her investigation, she learns that a man has died in the city that Freya is visiting.
This book is for you if you are into plot twists and a psychological thriller mixed with a business environment. This story has many plot twists, and the last scene makes you hold your breath. I highly recommend this book!
Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources, NetGalley, and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read and review this book.

Omg, what a fun book! Have you ever thought your boss was a bit off?? How about a killer?? Check out How to Slay at Work! It’s a wild ride!

Millie is working in a corporate office where she has a boss who is mean, rude, heartless, basically a total bitch. But Millie notices something suspicious about her boss when they are on a business trip so she starts digging and finds out a man is dead in whichever city her boss travels.
I first thought it was a typical crime thriller but I was wrong, and I'm happy about it. This book is dark, twisted and has many layers and plot twists, it will keep you hooked till the very end. There are commentaries on women in corporate and how women are treated in general. I literally finished it in 2 days. I would recommend it to everyone.

Hilarious. Clever. Twisty and turny. This one kept me guessing and I LOVED the multiple PoVs. Super fun. A must read.
