Cute and cozy read, exactly what you would want from a story about a baby dragons in a cafe. Cozy, fantasy and easy to read

I did the thing that no reader should ever do: judge a book by its cover. This was such a cute cover and I had such high hopes. Unfortunately this was more a YA novel and was a hard read because of the awkward sentence structures.

The Baby Dragon Café is an adorable and cozy read that blends fantasy charm with a sweet romantic storyline. I really enjoyed the romance trope—there was just enough warmth and chemistry to keep me rooting for the characters. The standout element for me, though, was the dragon café itself. The magical setting was imaginative and delightful, and I found myself wishing I could visit in real life!

That said, the pacing did feel a bit slow at times. There were moments where I caught myself drifting, waiting for the plot to pick back up. While the slower parts might appeal to readers who enjoy a more laid-back slice-of-life vibe, I personally wished for a little more momentum.

Overall, The Baby Dragon Café is a charming, feel-good story with lovable characters and a whimsical setting. Despite a few lulls, it’s a sweet escape—especially if you’re in the mood for a gentle fantasy with a touch of romance and a cozy atmosphere.

This was a good read and I will admit it is a little cheesy (but honestly who doesn't love cheese?). This book is a lovely mashup of How to Train Your Dragon and Gilmore Girls (think Lorelai and Luke except Lorelai is the one who owns the diner not Luke). I read this e-arc during my commute to work and it would be the highlight of my day as I would wake up looking forward to reading it on my way to work. A great book for anyone who is looking for a cute, cozy romantasy read.

As a person of colour this book brings me so much joy because its hard to find a cozy fantasy book where the main character is South Asian and this book in a way made me feel seen that yes, brown girls can have magical adventures too. This may sound silly and maybe I'm not saying it right, but as someone who loves fantasy but rarely saw a South Asian protagonist living in a cozy fantasy world this book was everything!

3.5 Stars!

The Baby Dragon Cafe by A.T. Qureshi is a whimsical and heartwarming tale that combines fantasy with cozy charm. Set in a magical cafe where dragons and humans coexist, the story follows a protagonist navigating the ups and downs of life while building connections with unique characters. Qureshi’s writing is lighthearted and delightful, offering a perfect mix of magic, friendship, and self-discovery. It’s an enjoyable read for fans of fantasy with a cozy, feel-good atmosphere.

I read this while nap-trapped by my niece, which did likely impact how charming I found this book. There were aspects that didn’t work for me (I refuse to believe “draggo” is common parlance) but overall, I think you’re getting exactly what is advertised. This is a cozy romance with some dragons thrown in. If the characters are not particularly well developed, the fade off is that there aren’t needless conflicts.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

This was a perfect cosy fantasy read, with added elements of diversity and looking after your mental health. The concept is charming and Qureshi's execution is impressive - while the love plot was perhaps predictable, the surrounding plotlines kept you guessing and it was really enjoyable to see the narrative progress.

A cosy fantasy, written simply and sweetly. Possibly wrongly depicted as a Romantasy (I didn’t get those vibes) but I didn’t hate it - I just wasn’t totally enthralled by it, but that is perhaps on me!

Light fantasy, a sweet and romantic read.

Saphira opens a café with baby dragons, which honestly sounds like a crazy business model, specially when a baby dragon melts the coffee machine in the first chapter. Aiden is a gardener whose family has a history of dragon training, when he meets Saphira, sparks fly.

I enjoyed this book. It is a really sweet straightforward romance. There is no miscommunication or hurt feelings to deal with, it is just the story of two people who like each other and fall in love, with added dragons. It was a really lovely read.

Thank you to the publisher for a review copy of this book.

I adored the idea of this book, both to mention the extremely charming cover, but the execution left a lot to be desired. It was just plain dull. Not recommended. Too bad! I really wanted to like it, because the idea is delightful.

Realised I never actually posted my review of this book -.-

This book was very simple, nothing amazing which is a shame as I was excited for a cosy read that made me smile non stop.
This book felt like it was written by a teenager - the wording used was so internet filled and I couldn’t cope with the amount of repetition throughout each chapter.

The love story felt very fake as well and just not real and yes I know it’s a cosy fantasy book but the relationships still need to be believable for me to actually enjoy the story.

A cute, cozy fantasy romance. Saphira just started her own cafe and is slowly figuring out a work-life balance. Aiden is from a very respectful Drakkon family and hires Saphira to train his dragon. Leading to a light hearted romance between the two.

This book had such lovely potential! Cosy setting with cute dragons.. but the storyline/lack of plot let it down.
Skimmed the last half and really didn’t miss much!

The formatting of this book put me off reading it as I use the text-to-speech tool and it wasn't possible on this ARC.
The premise sounded cute but the writing style from what I had tried to read made me unfocused.

Mention dragons, and it's instantly added to my TBR!
The Baby Dragon Café by A.T. Qureshi was a delight to read. 🐉💛 This cosy fantasy follows Saphira, a determined café owner whose business isn’t just serving tea and cakes—it’s also a sanctuary for baby dragons and their human companions. But looking after these mischievous little fire-breathers isn’t easy, especially when they have a habit of setting things alight!
The book is brimming with warmth and charm. Saphira’s relationship with Aiden, the grumpy-yet-endearing newcomer, adds a lovely romance subplot that had me smiling. Their grumpy-sunshine dynamic is a favourite trope of mine.
While the stakes are low and the plot leans towards the comforting side, that’s exactly what makes this such a delightful read—it’s a perfect escape into a world of cosy magic, found family, and, of course, adorable dragons. If you’re looking for a book that feels like a warm hug (with a few scorch marks along the way), this is it!

If you're looking for a cute cosy fantasy book then this is perfect! I absolutely loved it and will definitely purchase the next books in the future, it had me wanting a baby dragon all of my own! Absolutely loved the characters amd the writing made it easy to get lost inside the book as if you were in the cafe itself.

Sweet, cute, lighthearted, and just charming. This was a fun book to just curl up during cold weather and read.

This story had all the elements for a cozy read, fun premise, cute dragon and cafe and two adults brought together by said baby dragon who had instant attraction to each other. I loved all that the story had going for it and the actual story line, however, the writing was very basic and felt YA in how the characters interacted, more like a highschool setting than adulthood. I want to read book two to see if the writing improved as I did enjoy the actual story.
