I enjoyed this, interesting concept, easy read. Definitely one Id recommend it to any PNR lover. The characters are easy to bond with and the story flower really well.

This review is for Fan Service by Rosie Danan which released in the UK on the 11th March! Thanks so much to Netgalley and Piatkus for giving me an eArc copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have liked Rosie’s previous books and I was super excited to read this one, as it has a little more of a fantasy twist. It was super easy to read and I loved the female main character a lot!
It focuses on Alex and Devin, Alex the former fan girl to the TV show ‘The Arcane Files’ and Devin the actor of the main character on the series, who is somehow turning into a werewolf. It’s black cat x sunshine trope, and I loved where we actually get to the see the FMC as the black cat in this book. Devin did actually annoy me a little bit at the start of the book, as he did seem super pretentious. But you do end up loving him by the end, he is truly the biggest sweetheart. You do get to see a lot of character development from both of them, learning to love themselves as well as each other. The characters were also a little older in this book with Alex being in her thirties and Devin in his forties which was a refreshing change! You love to read about characters a little closer to your own age sometimes, as much as you wish you were still in your twenties 😂😂
I felt it was a super good blend of normal fantasy and didn’t push too hard into the shifter fan fiction style. I did love the mentions and hat tips to fan fiction readers and writers, and hints to online fandoms. I would definitely recommend this to any romance readers out there, especially those that have loved a little fan fiction in their lives. 😉

In this paranormal romcom, The Arcane Files superfan Alex Lawson and washed-up actor Devin Ashwood make an unlikely duo as they navigate a supernatural mystery that is equal parts hilarious, steamy, and heartwarming.
The plot is refreshingly unique, blending werewolf lore with modern fandom culture in a way that feels fresh and engaging. The dynamic between Alex and Devin starts with tension and witty banter, but as they work together, their chemistry becomes undeniable. Devin, in particular, is a total sweetheart—his struggles, both supernatural and personal, make him an incredibly endearing character.
The character development is a major highlight. Alex goes from an online critic to someone who sees the real Devin beyond his celebrity persona, while Devin himself undergoes a transformation (literally and figuratively) as he comes to terms with his new reality. Watching them grow individually and together adds depth to the story beyond the romcom and paranormal elements.
Overall, this book is a fun, sexy, and surprisingly heartfelt read. If you love a mix of supernatural shenanigans, slow-burn romance, and lovable characters, this one is definitely worth picking up!

If (like me) you are a BIG fan of Fanfics and the wonderful communities they can create, especially those featuring werewolves, look no further than Fan Service! This was such a fun, and surprisngly emotional book following misfit Alex who learnt a long time ago to not meet your heroes, while Devin (total Golden Retriever) is verging on washed up actor trying to relive the heights of his once popular TV show. However, one day his Werewolf show gets alittle *too* real, so who better to help him out than the oracle of his paranormal show Alex?

I really liked this book. It had a really interesting concept, and was a fun, paranormal, steamy romance.

A fun, steamy, and insightful rom-com that delves into fandom culture and the blurred lines between celebrity and personal life. Rosie Danan brings her signature wit and charm to a story about love, boundaries, and self-discovery. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable, and the banter is top-tier. While some plot points feel a little predictable, the book is an engaging, enjoyable read with a lot of heart.

I enjoyed Fan Service, which is well written with an engaging plot and characters with depth. Paranormal romance fans have a treat in store with this one.

This book was really fun. If you are or were a fan of supernatural tv shows then this book is for you! I loved the fan concept of the book and it was fun to read. I found the first 50% quite hard to get into but by the end i couldn’t put it down!

Fan Service was a brilliant surprise, a fun, entertaining read that I wanted to keep picking up. It is / has:
🌕 F/M Paranormal romance (werewolf)
🌕 Opposites attract
🌕 He’s a celebrity (MMC is in his 40s)
🌕 Dual POV
The story is a celebration of fandoms. Adult me who grew up watching paranormal tv shows, loves that there is an adult romance book exploring this. In Fan Service we follow Devin, a previous paranormal tv show star that has a situation of life imitating the plot from his tv show as he becomes a werewolf; and Alex a vet tech and previous fandom moderator that may be the only person able to help him.
So what I liked:
• This was an excellent concept and there was a few unique twists to the werewolf trope (but there was also some of the things you’d want from a shifter romance too) = me, a happy reader.
• After the first few chapters I was unsure, I hadn’t warmed to Devine and questioned if I would (he’s self-absorbed and egotistical). But I judged too soon and Devin had great character development! I did a 180 and was eager for his POV.
• Alex was also a great FMC, I liked her from the opening pages.
• This was a funny read too, it had me laughing and smiling. Extra editions in the text (messages, fandom posts / entries) added to the reading experience.
• Also explores some interesting themes: celebrity / fame, how people who are famous are treated, manipulative parental relationships.
Some other thoughts:
• The lore / magic is a little sparse but I did not mind this too much.

This book is giving a very strong MTV Teen Wolf vibes which I love even down to the trials that Devin has to undergo to test his werewolf abilities and even Alex working with animals. The idea that Alex as a super fan of the tv show Arcane Files and uses her extensive show / fandom knowledge to help Devin overcome and control his animal instincts was interesting and started off as a strong concept.
The contrast between Devin being a stuck up actor and the reality of him actually being lost and coming to terms with the end of his career gave his character some depth. But I'm undecided on whether I actually like his character and his general behaviour throughout the book. Also, I didn't really connect with Alex and Devin as characters and felt the romance element was rushed without enough build up and tension. I'm not usually a reader of werewolf books so I don't think this book fitted my personal taste. But I would recommend this to anyone who loves werewolf romances and that genre.

Rating 4 out of 5 stars
I loved this book. I am in a real werewolf phase now and I thank this book for it. I haven't read anything like this before when a unsuspecting character turns into a werewolf without knowing anything like this can happen. Devlin was a TV werewolf in a popular show from years before. Now in his forties after getting fired from his agent he begins to change into a werewolf. He goes online to a non inactive fan forum of his show and contact the moderator, Alex, who whilst loves the show, wasn't a fan of Devlin as a person. The two have to negotiating this change in Devlin together and obviously fall hard for each other
Devlin being protective of Alex is so cute and taking me back to my AO3 days reading werewolf fics. This is a love letter for werewolf fic lover and is done so well. I love Rosie's writing and she has become an auto buy author for me.
Three words to describe the book:
wolves
horses
actors

Fan Service is a cute, steamy and heartfelt romance that is a love letter to anyone who has belonged to a fandom, whether it be a television show or book series and spent hours scouring the internet either reading fanfiction or being part of an online group. The number of times I saw myself reflected in this book was insane and honestly made me really sentimental about my own experiences.
I really enjoyed the whole premise of this one and found the paranormal aspect explained really clearly and done well. The characters were incredibly well written, especially Alex who I feel a lot of us can relate to. I thoroughly enjoyed Devin's character arc in this and loved that his journey and life outside of being an actor were so well developed! I'm always here to see a main main character get the love and time they deserve. I will admit, I wasn't sure if I liked Devin or the way he spoke to Alex sometimes but the more you get to know his story you somewhat understand and it was nice to see him change for the better.
I definitely recommend picking this one up if you're looking for a contemporary romance that has a splash of paranormal elements, especially if you're looking to start your journey into paranormal romance.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“People here loved stories so much they wished they could abandon the real world to live inside them”
|Thoughts|
Grew up being obsessed with all things Buffy & Potter, so it was nice to see the nods to similar fandoms and the detail to which fanatics follow them.
Did appreciate that both MC are a little older. And whilst Devin does take a bit to shed (most) his self absorbed Hollywood exterior, I did appreciate his development and care for those in the small town.
“I don’t know if it was the moon or fate or the universe that made me a werewolf, but baby, you made me human”
Very much has the feel of a 2000s teen paranormal show, especially with the traits Devin begins to exhibit. Especially thought his ability to hear her heart rate led to some sweet interactions.
“Fuck the moon…I’d like to spend the rest of my life joking at your door”

I absolutely loved this book, it was so hard to put down. It was such an easy read with everything I needed!

My favourite Rosie Danan book yet! I really raced through this, unable to tear myself away from Devin and Alex and all the werewolf drama. Their relationship is developed really well over time, with Alex having to overcome past hurt in order to help Devin control the wild magic that's overtaken him. I loved how this was so fandom centric and brought in a lot of lore from The Arcane Files, a fictional show where Devin played a werewolf, and even some fanfic. Devin and Jess's emotions were portrayed really well throughout, and both characters crafted into something almost real that meant I connected with them and was also super invested in their story. These two were made braver by each other, and it was great to see how those changes manifested. This book is a really fun and wild ride, though we also see not only character flaws but also a look into small town dynamics, the impact of fame, and other stickier topics. And, if you've read any of Rosie's books before, you'll know to expect a lot of open door spice and whew, did this one deliver! There's plenty of plot and character development to balance out the steamy scenes, which I really appreciated, and overall I loved being along for the ride and wish I wasn't waving goodbye to Jess and Devin so soon!
I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.

As a long time ao3 user, shaped by teenage years on tumblr and hours of my life trying to find a way to watch Teen Wolf in the UK without Sky, I knew this one would be for me since Rosie announced it. I had high expectations and I was not disappointed. Not only is it sexy, it’s so full of heart. This is truly a love letter to fans and fandom, so there might be references go over the heads of readers who aren’t familiar with the world of deep fandom, but I felt so seen in the best way. The girls that get it get it, and Rosie gets it.

A classic Rosie Danan novel. Full of fun moments and spicy scenes with a paranormal twist. I absolutely loved every second of it and would recommend to those who are fans of “bride”.

Thank you so much net galley and Little Brown Book Group for this ARC.
This was a quirky, fun read and definitely gave an early 2000's romcom feel!
The book was VERY easy to read, and the whole premise was fun and original - I've never read anything like this before!
The only reason I didn't rate it higher was there were a few "cringe aspects" to the book (even though I know they were intentionally, I still couldn't cope).
Mainly the MMC being a big man baby, and how he acted/ spoke to the FMC at his big age of 42!! ( I cant comprehend that he was married before).
Then also the barking!!! AHHHH! I nearly DNF'ed at that point!!

I adored this. I loved how flawed both Alex and Devin are but that we get to see why they have those particular personality traits and the walls they’ve built to avoid being hurt. I loved watching the two of them open up to each other and allowing themselves to be vulnerable, and the character growth we get through that. I especially loved Devin getting to see what real love and friendship looks like through the people Alex has allowed into her life.
It is funny and hot throughout with tender moments bringing that realness to this fantastical story. The spicy scenes are impeccable ( I will be thinking about the scenes in the cabin for A WHILE) and the chemistry between the 2 of them was palpable.
The writing is lush and I can’t wait to see what Rosie comes up with next.

Thank you NetGalley and little brown book group uk for approving me to read this ARC!
This was my first time reading a Rosie Danan book and I really enjoyed it 🫶
My favourite character is our MFC as I relate to her on so many levels… from being obsessed with fanfics from a young age and being an outcast in most social settings I’ve been in! Alex really made me feel seen.
I liked the concept of big actor in a small town and falling for the outcast it’s very Y/N coded 🤣
I really like side characters but they were all just perfect from Jade (Devin’s agent) to Issac (Alex’s dad), side character have the same if not more impact on a book then the main characters in my opinion!
I really enjoyed the pacing and writing and managed to get through the book really quickly ☺️
I think the only downside to this book was the werewolf part… now don’t get me wrong I loved it when he was all protective and in “wolf mode”, I just didn’t enjoy how it was incorporated into the plot, I think I would of preferred the take of Devin having been a werewolf years before meeting Alex, it may have created a different dynamic.
Some parts are a little cringey but that is just the fantasy side of things and I am used to more higher levels of fantasy!
The romance however was perfect and the duo felt very special with their own stories🫶
