Fan service is Rosie Danan’s love letter to fandoms and it really delivers.
How is it possible that a book with the phrase “Jacob Elodi hive rise up” can elicit 4.5 star review from me… or maybe it is because of that phrase it got 4.5 stars from me…This book is just a good time , it’s laugh out loud, toe-curling, steamy fun, an ode to all the fandoms out there. The pop culture references are rife and it doesn’t take itself too seriously in the best way. The characters were self aware and we get to see some emotional growth throughout their story. I couldn’t stop picturing Jensen Ackles as Devin.
However, there was a little bit of a slow start were I was thinking that the FMC was written a little bit too pitiful, but once the FMC and MMC met after around 10% , things really picked up. The characters were explored more and I empathised with them both. Though I’m not really sure why she decides she wants to stay in a town that didn’t really warm up to her, I would have liked more redemption/karma for them - maybe some apologies and more friends in town. At some points I wasn’t quite sure what was happening with the plot but I honestly didn’t care because I was enjoying the characters so much.
If the Arcane Files was a real TV show I would 100% have watched it. This book is funny, it has heart and soul and is definitely worth a read.

I wanted to like this… but it just wasn’t for me sorry! It’s great for those who want a fun romance though!

Love love love loved this and had the most fun time reading!

This was such a fun read, the story follows Alex Lawson, a hardcore fan of werewolf drama "The Arcane Files," and Devin Ashwood, the show's former star who finds himself turning into a real werewolf. After seeking out Alex, the pair form an alliance. The chemistry between Alex and Devin is electric, and their journey from reluctant allies to something more is both funny and realistic.
Danan's writing is engaging and witty as ever and she balanced a fun, entertaining book with in-depth characters and emotional moments perfectly. The book felt nostalgic to my teen fangirl days and was a delight to read from start to finish. If you enjoyed Tessa Bailey's Fangirl Down and like a touch of the paranormal, this is perfect for you.
Truly, for the fans.

I usually love Rosie Danan’s books. ‘The Intimacy Experiment’ was a 5 star read for me but I struggled with this one. I really enjoyed the concept of this book and the involvement of fanfic and fandom lore was enjoyable. What I didn’t like was the MMC. he came across horribly. He implies at one point, in his internal monologue, that he’s too good for the FMC, that’s she’s strange, and because of this he couldn’t possibly find her attractive. From this moment forward, u found him irredeemable, especially considering the FMC is highly insecure and doesn’t feel like she’s lovable because of bullying in her past.

Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for this arc!
I was absolutely chuffed to be approved for this cause boy have I been waiting to get my hands on this!! I have enjoyed most of Rosie's books so this was exciting and did not disappoint. This lowkey made my Teen Wolf dreams come true like imagine if Stiles Stilinski was real, werewolves were real. Yeah, this is the book for you then. Also, the aspects of being a fan girl of the actor from the show like don't we all wish we could date Dylan O'Brien irl?? Well, in this book, we can certainly pretend to..

This is a fabulous book and with all the hype surrounding a Buffy reboot it is very ‘of the moment!’ Devin was the star of a werewolf detective show and hasn't really had much success since it ended. But when he finds himself naked on his front lawn after a full moon and slightly more growly than before, he enlists the biggest fan of the show to help him prove he’s not a werewolf - unfortunately she hates him! This is hilarious and romantic and incredibly cute! A perfect rom com for binge reading as it is such a good time.

Firstly thank you so much for approving me for this ARC! I really enjoyed Rosie's previous book 'The Roommate' so I was super excited to read this new paranormal/romance by her.
It was such a fun read and really reminded me of 90's - 2000s TV show nostalgia. I'm talking shows like Teen Wolf, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, Charmed type of vibes.
I enjoyed the character growth, although at the beginning I'll admit I didn't think I could get past Devin being quite so immature on occasion *eye roll* But i did warm up to him as the story progressed.
Overall a cute fun and quick read mixed with a bit of spice :)
(*spoiler warning* Knot as spicy as I wanted but the tension when it did kick in, hit the spot)

When Rosie Danan announced a werewolf book, I was hesitant. I should have known better. What an absolute DELIGHT! A fantastic couple you could barely tear your eyes away from, a fantastically told history between them, and the romance was a notch up from everything she's done before (and all those books have five stars in my eyes as well!)
Fun setting, hilarious plot, and honestly, just bloody amazing!

This book was a lot of fun, and a wonderful love letter to fandom culture.
There was a lot of character growth for both Alex and Devin, and I really enjoyed their interactions. There was an element of miscommunication happening, which we could understand from Devin's perspective but that I wish had been more fully resolved between the two in story. I also liked the secondary characters and would have loved to have seen more from them throughout.
Overall this book was fab, and I'd highly recommend. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you netgalley for this arc.
This was such a joy to read, an absolute hoot from the get go! This book is written with so much love and affection for fandom and tackles the stickier areas that come with fandom and celebrity really nicely. There’s so much love in here for the types of shows that obviously inspired TAF and the fandoms that sprung from it, it was really lovely to see some nods to real life fanfiction that were so subtle and well enmeshed! This was just a gorgeous bit of work all the way down, incredibly fun to read and also: boner.

This book had a great plot with intriguing characters. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author.

"Never meet your heroes - sometimes they turn out to be The Worst."
I wish I could read this for the first time again!! This had every romcom trope in the book and it was executed perfectly. Hilarious, heartwarming, he falls first with a mix of fantasy. The spice was just beautiful. I didn't cringe. (Even with the word baby being used) And the dynamic between the MMC and FMC was endearing.
A huge fan meets her celebrity crush as a teen. He absolutely breaks her heart. Years later he needs her help. He's a jerk. She's moody. It shouldn't work. But it does.
I enjoyed the backstory between the two characters. How similar yet different they both were and how they both bought out better versions of themselves.
It was a fun romcom read. It had me smiling from ear to ear and I just thoroughly enjoyed it. It's another one where you snuggle up for an evening and immerse yourself in chick lit with your favourite snacks.
Did I mention the spice?
Unexpectedly brilliant!

4.75⭐️ TEHEHHEHEE, I LOVED THIS!
This is by far my favorite book from Rosie Danan! The premise is so unique and absolutely brillaint.
Mr. Devin Ashwood, I am in love with you. He had me kicking my feet and giggling for about 90% of the book. I also adored Alex, whose fandom obsession felt so relatable to me as someone who’s often a bit too obsessed (in a wonderfully unhinged way) with fictional characters.
Aside from the “werewolf” thing (lol), both Alex and Devin felt incredibly real, and I was totally invested in their story. Their chemistry was FAB, and the way they supported each other through their personal struggles made their relationship feel so authentic. I loved how their quirks made them even more relatable and endearing.
My only small issue was that I pictured Devin as being a little younger than his 40-something years—he didn’t quite give off that vibe, especially with how mischievous he was at times. But honestly, i couldn’t care less, i still adore him and this book. It’s a hilarious, swoon-worthy read with witty banter, I was laughing out loud more times than i can count. *chefs kiss*

I had such a fun time reading Fan Service, I was hiding my laughs at one point on a plane. It's absolutely jam packed with humour and fandom nods. Fans of Supernatural & Teen Wolf will have a great time reading this one.
We follow Devin who is trying to figure out what's happening to him after a recent breakdown on the full moon... spoiler it's Lycanthropy! Alex, a personally wronged by Devin, moderator on a Wiki for his old show 'The Arcane Files' is contacted and asked to help rule out him becoming a Werewolf. Instead, the two go through multiple tests which confirm instead confirm this. After coming to terms with this revelation, Alex recreates trials from his show to help Devin retain control and let him return to Hollywood.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one, it's not my usual genre but I am a sucker for Werewolf stories. If you want a relaxed but humorous read full of fandom nods and the supernatural, pick this one up!
Thanks to Netgalley & Little Brown Book group for sending me this arc.

I loved Rosie Danan’s last paranormal romance, Do Your Worst. It was filled with sweet moments, steam and delicious tension. So obviously I smashed that request button as soon as I saw that Fan Service was another paranormal romance, about a small-town nerd and the main actor from her favourite, off-air werewolf detective show, who has somehow become a werewolf himself.
While the premise of this book sounded super fun, and like a great enemy to lovers, a tension-filled ride, it was not. I made it 49% into this story before I couldn’t take it anymore. The MMC Devin, is incredibly unlikeable. Not only is he horrible, insensitive and mean to Alex the MFC but he’s also self-centred and immature, acting more in the range of a twenty-year-old than a previously married 42-year-old man. I didn’t want to spend any more time in his mind or reading about him, which was disappointing as Fan Service was one of my most anticipated books of the year.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book.
I went into this with my eyes fully closed knowing nothing other than he was a washed up teen werewolf and she was an ex fangirl so when Devin turned into an actual werewolf I was pretty surprised (in the best way).
This book was a great mix between meet cute romcom and smutty tension. Devin and Alex were so cute together and you couldn't help but ship them from the beginning. I loved the way he was unapologetically protective of her right from the beginning like yep she's the one which lets be fair we all love- especially if it's our teen crush.

This was such a fun (and slightly feral) paranormal rom-com, which threw me right back to SuperWhoLock Tumblr circa 2014 🫣😂 With the perfect blend of teenage nostalgia and the relatable struggles of growing up/aging, this warm hearted story hit perfectly! I loved both the goth black-cat FMC and the golden retriever (literally) himbo MMC, and enjoyed watching them both learn how to love themselves (and each other 🫣😍) throughout the book.
I can’t say much more without spoilers but I loved everything about this book and I would highly recommend to anyone (but especially to any die hard Teen Wolf or Supernatural fans from back in the day lol) 🐺🌙

They say never meet your heroes and Alex Lawson finds out the hard way how true this is. Years after their disastrous meeting, when the star of her favourite TV show comes to her for help, Alex is suddenly forced to rethink her original assessment of Devin Ashwood and use her superfan knowledge to help his supernatural problem.
Rosie Danan has brought together the perfect blend of romance and paranormal, with a sprinkling of slow burn, age gap and hate to love for good measure.

You guys, that was actually perfect? This was one of my most anticipated releases for 2025 and it did not let me down one single bit.
I will say if you were like me and thinking March seems like an odd release date (as opposed to releasing it around spooky season), trust me as long as you’re in the mood for a werewolf romance, it’ll be perfect to read any time of the year (it’s set around January-February if that helps). I was so so so excited to get the ARC, but then I kept seeing other people who had also gotten this book say they didn’t like the MMC because he’s rude and says unnecessary comments, so it made me a bit hesitant to pick this up, but let me tell you this was such a delight. Yes, the MMC is a little weirdo, but it suits his character perfectly and we get shown how and why he does act the way he does - you cannot be a child star and go through that trauma and not be a little weird and have little to no filter. The FMC balances out his weirdness though and I genuinely think they are so good together.
The chemistry, the banter, the tension, the angst!!! Honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better from this. I read in this in one sitting, you couldn’t pry it out of my cold, dead hands. I was giggling and blushing the entire time. There are a lot of pop culture references which I usually don’t like in books, but I was prepared going in because of the content of the book and it wouldn’t have worked without it!
And again, reading this book could not have come at a more perfect time for me since I am in the middle of rewatching Teen Wolf, and this is like if Tyler Posey suddenly became a real life werewolf. So many connections to Teen Wolf and the lore behind shipping characters, discussions on show runners queerbaiting, making online friends through fandoms… genuinely a love letter to fangirls and I’m utterly obsessed! I’ve never read a Rosie Danan book before this, but this feels like the love child of Ali Hazelwood and Lana Ferguson. I can’t believe I have to wait to get the physical copy of this book, it’s genuinely become a new favourite book for me.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This is my first werewolf romance reading and I am so impressed with this. Normally I don't go for any kind of supernatural based books which technically this one is not completely like that anyways. I have read all of Rosies' books and loved them all and this one was not any different.
