Another fantastic book from Katy Brent. Twisty, keeps you guessing till the end, fun packed and at times hilarious. That dark honour that Brent does best is what makes her books so fun and this one is no exception

Following on from our first meeting with Kitty Collins in 'How to Kill Men and Get Away With It', this was a continuation of her escapades punishing men she feels deserves it after hurting women, particularly if they happen to be her friends or family. Great character development and it was nice to see more of Kitty's mum in this one! Recommended if you like female rage used in a vigilante style!

Plot: 4.25 ✨
Characters:4 🩷

This was dark, twisty, funny but still had a deep powerful message.

Can we take justice into our own hands? Well Kitty Collins certainly thinks so.

Kitty is a reformed unaliver of men who do bad things to women. Until shes not so reformed but has she gone too far? Is this the one that ends her spree for good? That changes her life as she knows it?

Kitty lives with her gorgeous loving good boyfriend Charlie who knows nothing about her alter ego. With a fractured family history, her mother’s wedding invitation and a 30th birthday she will never forget.

I really enjoyed this one, it got you thinking about the views of people the justice system and how the world works. It had twists I didn’t see coming and overall a very enjoyable read! Another big well done to Katy who is coming high on my favourite authors list rapidly!

Thankyou #netgalley for the opportunity to read this one!

This is a rather silly story - Kitty Collins has apparently spent much of her adult life wreaking 'justice' for women by killing men who abuse them. I haven't read the previous book/s but it would appear she is now trying to turn over a new leaf, settled with her live-in boyfriend Charlie who knows nothing of her past. She doesn't work, indeed almost everyone in the book appears to have an independent income.

The current fly in her ointment is 'Blaze Bundy', an anonymous social media persona who posts vile mysogynistic rants against women, whipping up male chauvenism. Kitty abhors him, but then begins to suspect he has her in his sights and is out to get her. She starts to try to find out who this figure really is. Meanwhile her mother announces she is marrying again and expects Kitty to attend the wedding in France.

The whole process of killing men is unbelievable - Kitty kills, clears up and has no apparent consequences; all the people who discover her actions support her outrageous behaviour. The characters are pretty one dimensional and while the story drags the reader along, keen to find out what will happen next, it is not particularly well-written.

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kitty Collins is back and better than ever.
If you enjoyed reading "How to Kill Men and Get Away With It", then you are certainly going to fall in love with this sequel. Kitty Collins picks up where she left off with this hilarious & witty feminist thriller.

Katy Brent's impressive and engaging writing style will always have me coming back for more. Even have “The Murder After The Night Before” as January’s book club pick!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC!

Thanks to netgalley and Katy brent for this ARC. Due to be published 30/01/25

I've read Katy's other books in this series and loved them. Couldn't wait to get my hands on this to see what was going to happen next.

I was a little worried that everything would come crashing down for Kitty and that she wouldn't be able to finish her work and there were a few tricky moments. However, it seems like there's still opportunity for more adventures.

I liked this particular story for the continuation of Kitty's relationships with her friends and her mum. There's always an opening into Kitty's vulnerability which is in part the motivator for the justice she's handing out.

I did like the extra insight into Carmella and how things have moved on for her in a positive way although I did wonder if Kitty's initial instincts were correct. The new family member was also an unexpected twist and I am intrigued into how that will pan out in the future. Already looking forward to the next in Kitty's series 🤣

A follow on from Katy Brent's previous books. If you liked "How to Kill Men and Get Away With It, and 'Murder After Tge Night Before' then this book shouldn't disappoint. Dark humour easy read that I finished in 2 sittings. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I very much enjoyed this in comparison with the first one! There are obviously still some flaws in that things happen and have no explanation as to how/why that’s happened. Some of the characters too easily accept that Kitty goes around murdering men and no one questions it. But if you are looking for a fun book with some murder then look no further. If you want to take your reading seriously, then I wouldn’t bother.
All in all, it wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read but it wasn’t the worst. It’s one of those books I read for a bit of fun.

Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Another book by Katy and it didn't disappoint a sequel to how to kill men and get away with it, it was nice to delve back into kitty and her feminism. Murdering men that have raped, hurt women etc as she feels the justice system is a mess. Her character is definitely grey. I like how the book still has lightheartedness and is still a fun read. We had more of her mum In this book which was nice as we didn't get any of her in the first book. It was interesting to find out that kitty has a half sister and the author has left it open for there to be a third book. Would be perfect for a fun, summer, murdering read

The red herrings really took me on a wild goose chase and kept me in their clutches for more than half the story. I couldn't decide whether I loved or loathed Kitty but I found her amusing and got swept up in her cause.

Thanks for the comical read that maintains its mood and pace throughout.

Such a cathartic read! With all the feminine rage!

I didn't even realise there was going to be a sequel, but I'm so happy there was, as I'd say this was far better than the first and Katy Brent writing is just getting better and better. Can't wait to see what she does next!

Premise:

Around 6 months on from the previous book, Kitty Collins, now a recovering serial killer, is trying to live a happy life with Charlie and resist the urge to kill bad men.

But when an incel-type male blogger starts targeting her in his content, the itch returns. And at the same time, her mother invites her to Cannes, for her whirlwind wedding, to a man that Kitty doesn't trust.
🔪🔪🔪

As I said, I think I prefer this to the first book, because whilst the first one was a lot of fun, this book does a lot more to highlight the social injustice and challenges women face. Similar to why I liked ‘Murder after the night before’. I think Katy really has you feeling as angry as Kitty whilst still making you laugh out loud!

And the humour was fantastic! My favourite moment was Kitty trying to brain storm murder techniques. It was quite a comprehensive list 🤣

There were some good twists as well and red herrings to keep you on your toes. One element you will probably see coming, but a lot really surprised me!

And, without spoiling anything, there is the development of some good relationships with newer characters for Kitty which I enjoyed and would be keen to see more of! Whilst Tor and Maisie are nice, I prefer the dynamic of some of the newer characters!

My only pitfull right now, is I just don’t feel the emotional attachment to Charlie. And I'm intrigued what happens from here… Part of me wants Kitty to find someone who embraces her dark side, and I don’t see that being Charlie. But let’s see what the next book brings!

All in all, an addictive read that I finished in under 24 hours! Can't wait for the next one!

Katy Brent’s I Bet You’d Look Good in a Coffin solidifies her as one of my autobuy authors. This sequel to How to Kill Men and Get Away With It delivers everything fans loved in the first book: dark humour, razor-sharp wit, and Kitty Collins—our unapologetically chaotic anti-heroine who is equal parts relatable and terrifying.

Kitty's struggle to balance her bloodthirsty urges with her attempts to live a “normal” life is nothing short of addictive. As a serial killer with a moral compass skewed by righteous female rage, Kitty sets her sights on misogynistic influencer Blaze Bundy. Brent expertly uses Blaze as a stand-in for the all-too-real toxic masculinity we encounter online, giving readers both cathartic laughs and biting social commentary.

Adding depth to the story, Kitty’s journey to the South of France for her mother’s wedding is the perfect backdrop for murder, mayhem, and self-reflection. The luxurious setting contrasts beautifully with the gritty undertones of Kitty’s inner turmoil and the escalating threats she faces.

This book goes beyond the thrills, tackling themes of feminism, justice, and sisterhood with unflinching honesty. While Kitty’s methods are questionable (therapy might serve her better than murder), her motivations feel tragically justified in a world that too often fails women.

With sharp twists, a fast-paced plot, and a protagonist you can't help but root for despite her very questionable choices, I Bet You’d Look Good in a Coffin is the kind of book you’ll devour in one sitting. Katy Brent masterfully blends dark comedy with thought-provoking commentary, making this a must-read for fans of feminist thrillers and morally grey characters.

If you loved the first book, prepare to be even more obsessed with this one. And if you haven’t started the Kitty Collins series yet, what are you waiting for?

Kitty is back, and she’s taking no prisoners—literally. I, for one, cannot wait for what Brent cooks up next.

I loved the first book in this series and loved this one just as much. Very gruesome in places and very funny in others. I was disappointed that it didn’t work out with Charlie, but hey, you can’t have everything. A brilliant read! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the early copy and I can’t wait for the next one!

A huge thanks to NetGalley, Harper Collins (HQ Digital) and Katy Brent for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book before its release.

Trigger warning: This book contains themes of rape and sexual assault, as well as murder (but you were probably expecting that already).

“I Bet You’d Look Good in a Coffin” is a strong sequel to Brent’s brilliant “How to Kill Men and Get Away With It”, one of my favourite books of recent years. The main character Kitty remains witty and righteous, and her feminist viewpoint is more powerful than ever. She really is the best antihero.

In “I Bet You’d Look Good in a Coffin” we follow Kitty to Cannes for a family event. Compared to the first novel, I found the book lost its way a little in the middle and it took a while for things to pull together. I also found the storyline much more unrealistic than the first novel (no spoilers, but I’m sure many will agree) - this isn’t a massive issue as it’s a work of fiction, after all, but I appreciated the realistic potential of “How to Kill Men and Get Away With It”.

Overall, though, I loved this story. Kitty remains hilarious and made me laugh out loud at points. Brent writes with brilliant wit and is an unbelievably talented author. She combines humour with emotion and while I found myself laughing in certain points I also shed some tears in others. Through Kitty’s story, Brent is sparking important conversations about the patriarchy and where both women and men position themselves in today’s society.

Lots of fun, lots of silliness and giggles, but also lots of reflections on our modern world and the dangers of social media, incel culture, and a killer vegan socialite. Katy Brent is truly exceptional.
