Having first read this book about maybe 40 years ago I was surprised that when re -reading it again now, it still felt fresh and clever- and I still got the whodunnit wrong - no wonder Agatha Christie is considered the Queen of crime!
Locked room or isolated location books whilst always around, seem to have become very popular again recently, but Ms Christie certainly helped lead the way!
I particularly enjoyed this edition where a QR code is provided to download the final chapter and the answer
Thank you to netgalley and Harper Collins for an advance copy of this book

I don't feel 5* is enough for this masterpiece. This is a blueprint for how crime thrillers should be written.

It is the perfect whodunit. 10 strangers trapped on an island who, one by one, are murdered. There is nobody else on the island, so the killer must be amongst them. The strangers have all gotten away with crime or actions that the killer believes they need punishing for.

This story has tension, suspense, and fantastically written characters. Whoever says Agatha Christie writes cosy crime has never read this book. The final chapter is jaw dropping leaving you wanting to reread to see how you missed the clues.

More of a how they dunnit than who.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very interesting to read something that captured the attitudes of the time in what was a very class conscious bygone age. I tried hard to follow the evidence, even making a few notes. Each time I thought I'd spotted something that was a breakthrough clue to the murderer, that person was the next one to die, or else my suspect couldn't have been responsible.
The book has a rapid pace, with drama on almost every page. It took me longer to read than normally for something of this length because I frequently stopped to go back to previous pages to try to unravel the mystery at each new disclosure.
This new edition tells a tale where none of the cast is above suspicion and is a real gem. Don't miss it.

Called the greatest murder mystery written, this book does not disappoint. It is readable, believable and incredibly carefully put together. The decision to republish it with the final chapter missing is great, spoiled only by the presence of websites like Wikipedia which will give the game away. The solution once known is obvious, a person who has had a career in upholding and dispensing justice, but hindsight is a wonderful th8nk. In their opinion, all of the 10 deserved to face justice making this an exercise in vigilante killing.. read it! It’s great!

Earlier this year I saw the stage version of 'And Then There Were None' so it was a pleasure to read this 'Ultimate Mystery Addition '. I have been reading Agatha Christie books for 50 years now and never tire of them. The volume of sales of the Queen of Crimes books happens for a reason. Perhaps her best book with its clever plot and dramatic ending. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.

The invites have been sent out and ten guests arrived on an island off the coast of Devon. They have been invited by an unknown millionaire. The host is nowhere to be found but what is found is a framed nursery rhyme in all the guests’ rooms. A nursery rhyme which hints at their fate...

This masterpiece by Agatha Christie has stood the test of time. She was a genius at writing mystery. With And Then There Were None she set the perfect stage: an isolated island, guests with things in their past they want to keep secret, and tension galore. This book has that trapped feeling that I love in books. In addition to tension, And Then There Were None also has secrets, dread, danger, and a great mystery.

As the guest meet their fate, readers get the chance to do their own detective work to figure out whodunit. That is if you have not already read the book, seen the play, or watched the movie! After all, Agatha Christie is considered to be one of the most read authors of all time.

This proved to be a fast and thrilling read which had me wanting to pick up another book by Agatha Christie right away!

must confess I have read very little by Agatha Christie. Yes, I know this is most unusual considering how much I love a good whodunnit or locked room mystery. I have no explanation for this; I just never got around to reading them.
Anyway, you can probably imagine my delight when I received this digital ARC of this special edition to read and review. Many thanks HarperCollins UK and Netgalley.

To say that I enjoyed this classic whodunnit would be an understatement. I was totally immersed in it, and with good reason. You see, the final chapter was missing. When I got to the end, I had to submit who I thought the killer was. Then, and only then, would I receive the final chapter. Brilliant, no?
I relished the idea of exercising my little grey cells. Alas, I am no Poirot, nor Miss Marple. I fear Inspector Clousseau would have made the correct deductions.
The fun was in the trying though, and if I had read this before, it wouldn't have been half as much fun.
I will definitely be adding more Agatha Christie titles to my reading list, but I'm not sure they will top this.
The special collector's edition will be available on 10/10/2024. Thanks again to HarperCollins UK and Netgalley for the digital ARC.

Definitely one of Agatha Christie’s best novels, And Then There Were None is still fresh and original and will appeal to old and new Christie aficionados alike.
Set on an island off the Devon coast (Burgh Island in reality), ten strangers are invited to stay only for them to start dying one by one. Who is doing this, is it accidental or is it murder? This story is so beautifully crafted that it seems impossible to discover the reasoning behind these fatalities.
This is such a beautiful new edition from Harper Collins with the solution to the puzzle concealed in an envelope at the back of the book. I am sure this will continue to intrigue it’s readers for many generations to come.

An absolute classic murder mystery that has inspired a myriad of locked room imitations. Ten strangers are invited to an island cut off from the mainland and one by one they start dying… the final death can’t be a suicide but who is the killer? Ingenious making you wait to request the final piece of the puzzle!

Danger and death on an island. Twelve disparate people are invited for a holiday on an island off the Devon coast, seemingly from people they have known. All seem to have a secret of problem in their past. Gradually they get to know each other but what’s with the toy soldiers and why have these people been brought together on the island? Creepy but enjoyable.

Definitely one of Agatha Christie’s novels- tense and leaving you thinking you know who the killer is. Unfortunately we never know! Was annoyed to not find out!

Whilst I've always been aware of Agatha Christie it's only recently I've started reading through her books. I really enjoyed this read and felt it was a great length. She certainly had me fooled and I didn't realise who the murderer was until the last chapter.

And Then There Were None is set on a wild, remote island off the coast of Devon in which ten strangers are left stranded. Members of the group are being murdered in grizzly ways following a sinister nursery rhyme and the culprit can only be one of the people on the island. This is one of the original 'locked room' mysteries and is certainly the best in my opinion.

Agatha Christie has an incredible way of crafting developed characters, vivid settings and intricate plot twists within such a short book. I particularly love in this book that the nursery rhyme provides a sense of foreshadowing but the book never becomes predictable and I read it in one sitting. The locked room trope is one of my favourites and I love that you have no idea who to trust or who to believe. I've read many other books inspired by And Then There Were None however none of them match up to the original.

As one of Christie's standalones and the book voted her best, I would say this book would be a great introduction to her work and would recommend this to anyone. This is my favourite book of all time and one I have reread on many occassions.

I really enjoyed this book as I just love an Agatha Christie murder mystery that keeps you guessing right up until the end.

What a hugely fun edition of one of Agatha Christie's best novels. I can only imagine the delight at reading this story for the first time and having the time to think through who must have been the killer. It's a stand alone novel, no Poirot or Marple, but the story is so good, you really don't miss them!

People from all walks of life are invited to holiday on an island off the Devonshire coast. The same child's rhyme is framed in each room: a rhyme where one person is lost at the end of each verse, but always in a different way. And then the first person on the island dies, swiftly followed by a second: each, in line with the rhyme. What a terrifying place the island must now be......

This was done so cleverly. I loved the incorporation of the soldier rhyme and how it tied in with the mystery and suspense.
Every twist and turn kept me on the edge of my seat, each chapter escalating the tension. I genuinely had no idea who was responsible for the murders until the big reveal.
As a short read this was super easy to read and showcases why Christie is one of the greatest mystery writers of all time. A really wonderful read for October.

Plot
Set on a remote island, ten strangers are invited under mysterious circumstances. Soon, they find themselves accused of past crimes and begin to die one by one, in accordance with a nursery rhyme.

Thankyou to Harper Collins for an e-copy of the Ultimate Mystery Edition

Wow! I just loved that the mystery was wrapped up. I find myself frustrated, sometimes, when left with multiple questions.
The ending of having to, in my case, download the final chapter to find out exactly who the murderer was an excellent added feature. I'm disappointed to say that I was wrong!

I was lucky enough to receive an electronic advanced copy of the new edition of this book and really enjoyed the originality of having the ending of the book kept a secret until you had chosen who you thought the killer was.

The story is about 10 strangers who all get invited to the renowned Soldier Island following receipt of mysterious invitations. One by one deaths start occurring on the island and they all seem to match the telling of a nursery rhyme.

I enjoyed the book and it kept me guessing throughout as I didn’t work out who the killer was.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins for the advance copy
