This was a brilliant story keeping me in suspense for so much of it, you believe everything that is happening right through till there are more questions raised and it makes you think about how parents perceive their kids.

I really enjoyed this book - an interesting theme of how far you would go to protect your child. I thought it was over by 50% but it carried on twisting for the second half and I loved the ending. Recommended.

Brilliant, page turner. Makes us think what we would do for our kids. True always comes out. This could have ruined an innocent person's life. Consequences for your actions

Someone is Lying follows the story of Jess, a single mother who has always shared an unbreakable bond with her daughter, Issie. For the past seven years, it’s been just the two of them, but everything changes when Issie meets Dylan.

When Issie and Dylan announce their plans to go travelling, Jess is devastated. Issie is only seventeen, and Jess has serious doubts about her daughter's new boyfriend. Her worst fears are realised when Issie suddenly stops contacting her, leaving Jess terrified. With Dylan refusing to speak and the police unwilling to help, Jess is thrust into a parent’s worst nightmare, desperate to find out what has happened to her daughter.

This book had me gripped from the very first page. It’s an emotionally charged thriller that takes the reader through the heart-wrenching experience of a parent powerless to help their child. The tension builds as trust is broken, and betrayal becomes evident, making for an emotional rollercoaster that keeps you turning the pages.

Someone is Lying is an intense and moving story about the lengths a parent will go to protect their child. An unputdownable read, packed with twists and emotional depth.

Heidi at her best! A real page turner. Jess and her daughter are not getting on as well as they usually do. In fact Issie has changed since she has met Dylan. When Issie goes on vacation with Dylan things take on a different perspective and Jess becomes very worried and concerned about her.

How far would you go to protect your child? Really enjoyed this book and made me think what I’d do in Jess’ situation. Her daughter is travelling with her boyfriend, who Jess doesn’t get a good feeling about. Her daughter then goes missing and no one believes her. She follows the trail and uncovers the truth of what actually happened. Really enjoyed the ending! Was a quick read as at the end of every chapter I wanted to find out more.

Below is the blurb

"How do you find your daughter when no one believes she is missing?
Single mother Jess and her daughter Issie have always shared an unbreakable bond. For the last seven years, it's been just the two of them.
That is, until Issie meets Dylan.
When the pair announce their plans to go travelling, Jess is devastated - Issie is only seventeen after all, and Jess doesn’t trust her daughter’s new boyfriend.
And when she stops hearing from her altogether, she's terrified.
With Dylan refusing to talk, and the police unwilling to help, Jess is faced with a mother's worst nightmare.
Can she find her daughter before it's too late?"

I enjoyed this book although apart from Dylan's mum I can't say I warmed to any of the characters. This is every parent's nightmare when their child goes travelling and you can't get hold of them. I actually quite liked the podcast section running through the book, it was like having a little summary of what was happening at various points in the book. Although it didn't really make sense as to why it was there till later in the story. A good read although probably not if your kids are about to do a similar trip!

This was a really fantastic page turner. So good to read such a gripping story.
Lies, truths, relationships, plenty to digest here.
Thanks to Netgalley!

As a new mother, I found the topics that this book raised - namely how far will a parent go for their child? - really interesting and thought provoking. I liked the contrast of Jess and Kay - on the face of it, two very different women but who are actually not that dissimilar when it comes down to it. However other than this, the book fell a bit flat for me. I could see early on where things were heading and there simply wasn't enough happening to keep me gripped - I yearned for more twists. However if you enjoy plots concentrating on family relationships, this may be a book for you.

Yet another blockbuster of a book. Really could not put this down.

Would you betray your daughter/son if you knew what they were saying was a lie? It brings modern podcast to the fore and the influence these can have on bringing cases to the public mind, but do they bring the wrong conclusions?

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this entertaining book.

Excellent book. A real page turner. A daughter leaves for Portugal with her boyfriend, who her mother doesn’t trust. She loses contact with her daughter for a few days, something which has never happened before. Something has gone wrong in Portugal, but the mother has nothing to go on. She is completely lost and doesn’t know where to start with tracking her daughter down. With that, her thoughts run wild and she thinks of all sorts of scenarios. There’s conflict between the daughter’s family and the boyfriend’s family who come from completely different backgrounds. In the end, Who is Lying?

Well where do I start, took me less than 24 hours to read, my house is a mess due to not being able to put this book down, hooked me from the start and didn't let go until the end, what would you do to protect your child

This is a twisty tale where you have to guess who is lying. Two different mothers, Kay and Jess but with one common goal: to protect their children. A story full of intrigue. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.

Love this from Heidi Perks. How far would you go to protect your family? That's the question at the heart of this book.
The plot us brilliant and the characters are so well written. Loved it!

This went in a completely different direction than I thought after reading the prologue!
Issie and her boyfriend go travelling, away for her 18th birthday her mum Jess doesn’t hear from her prompting a missing persons case… after this it’s twists and turns.

We hear Jess POV and Kay (Dylan’s mum) POV with a true crime podcast thrown in (my favourite part of the book)

This book does ask some tough moral questions, how far would we go to protect our children.

I liked the first half but found the second half dragged a bit, however it was a good read.

Thankyou NetGalley for the free download. This is my personal view on this read:
A large part of this book is full of twists and turns, making it hard to figure out whose side to be on. I enjoyed how it kept my mind engaged, always making me think.

There were times when I should have been doing something else, like making my kids tea or actually sleeping when I went to bed, but I found myself saying ‘just a few more pages’ and losing track of time!

One challenge I had throughout most of the book was that I couldn’t truly like any of the characters. However, I believe this was an intentional choice by the author to reflect the complex and shifting nature of the story, as it gradually unveils the truth. And with it my opinion changed and I found myself liking more and more of the characters.

The writing is clever and thought-provoking, making you wonder: what would you do in their situation? Both from the perspective of the parent and the child. Some of the characters' decisions left me feeling unsettled at times, but it only made me hope I’m never faced with such extreme circumstances—who knows how any of us would react?

And let’s not forget the podcast— I LOVE a true crime story and this was perfectly put together- I would definitely subscribe to Lucy Hawes’ podcast.

This is an absolutely superb book about controlling relationships and what a parent is prepared to do to protect their child. Jess has a gorgeous daughter called Izzie who she adores and is very close to especially as she's brought her up virtually single handed since her controlling husband left them.
Jess and Izzies relationship is sorely tested when dizzy takes up with a new boyfriend. It almost seems like a repeat of the controlling relationship Jess has with her husband. Dizzy decides to go on a backpacking trip to Portugal with her boyfriend but alarm bells ring and concerns are raised when neither one of the couple can be contacted within a matter of days. What has happened to trigger this missing persons situation and just who is to blame.

Loved the book. Plot, characters and bang up to date with the podcast. Kept me engrossed from start to finish, I needed to know if Izzy would get her comeuppance or indeed if Dylan would. You must read it to find out.

This book was excellent, really well written and full of suspense. It tells the story of Issie and Dylan as they decide to go travelling together against the wishes of Issie’s Mum Jess.
I loved how the book was separated into 4 parts and told from both of the teenagers mothers points of view. I also liked the podcast aspect which I found interesting.
The story really kept me guessing and had plenty of twists and turns and definitely didn’t end how I expected
A brilliant 5 star read which I would definitely recommend.
