All book lovers should flock to this book based on the title and description- books, Nantucket, a brooding millionaire, oh my. The cover was very cute as well!
However, this book starts with insta lust and dirty talk within the first few chapters. I don’t mind a spicy book, but I like a buildup first. Not “f-if under the stars” in chapter 5. It kind of turned me off for the rest of the book. Give me a quieter book store owner and whale watching instead!

I went in expecting to like this, but I didn’t expect to get so completely lost in it. The writing pulled me straight into the world, the characters felt alive, and the emotions were raw. Between the thrills and the softer moments, I was totally swept away. Loved every bit.

Soo I picked up Booked for Summer and honestly it was fine. Like, not bad, not amazing… just very middle of the road for me. The setting was definitely the best part, it made me want to drop everything and go live on Nantucket running a little bookshop by the beach. The banter between Jade and Liam had its moments and there’s definitely some chemistry there, so that kept me reading.
But I never fully connected with them. Their relationship felt more physical than emotional sometimes, and the pacing was kinda weird… some scenes dragged, then others felt rushed. It just didn’t flow the way I wanted. Still, it’s cute and flirty and honestly the perfect kind of book to throw in your beach bag if you want something easy and summery.
3 stars from me.
Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for the arc!

Kathryn Freeman’s Booked for the Summer delivers a feel-good, escapist romance filled with island vibes and bookshop dreams. Jade’s vivacious energy and her determination to save the Little Bay Book Shack are lovable, and the shift in Liam from aloof boss to emotionally available love interest provides satisfying growth. The setting is vibrant and immersive, and the supporting cast enriches the story beautifully. While some moments rely on familiar tropes or lean too heavily on physical attraction, it’s still a sweet, sharply paced read perfect for a sunny afternoon. Rating: 4 / 5.

Spicy, male female, 3rd person dual point of view, contemporary romance. I wanted to like this (the premise was right up my alley), but I didn't click with the author's writing style.

This is my third book by the author. I loved the first one I read called the Italian Job, but this and Nobody Puts Romcom in the Corner have been disappointing.
This story feels very lackluster and honestly I was bored at 50% but I hate to DNF when I've already committed the time, and I keep hoping that it will get better. The characters were very cliche. The blonde bombshell who wants to prove she's more than her good looks, and the poor little rich boy who wants to be loved for more than his money, and is out to prove himself to his childhood bullies. The book was all insta love, and it lacked emotional depth. There was constant miscommunication between the characters and bouncing back and forth between I love them/I hate them. The characters felt immature, and very flat. Even the cute backdrop of a bookshop on Nantucket, and a side cast of quirky townspeople couldn't save this one. Even the feud between the millionaire and the townspeople was lackluster and underdeveloped, and somehow the book went on and on.
This one was just plain okay.

3.5 stars rounded up. Booked for Summer is an insta-lust story that develops into a romance. Jade Taylor has left England to manage the Little Bay Book Shack on Nantucket Island over the summer. She loves books and wants to work with them and share that love with others. When she meets Liam Haven she mistakes him and his boat as the ferry to Nantucket. He is instantly attracted to him and they end up having a night together. She has no idea that he is the owner of the resort and is trying to buy the bookstore. When the owner sells him the bookstore and the wharf, he becomes her boss. To convince him to keep the bookstore open and not tear it down for fancy villas, she works with some of the islanders to show him the importance of the bookshop to the island. In the process, they get to know one another a lot better and both begin to fall in love.
I'm not a fan of lust in my books, nor open door romance. I almost DNFed it, but it settled down after the first couple of chapters. I liked seeing Jade work with the island residents and get to know them. She is a great character, one who cared about the islanders, as well as her love of books and desire to keep the bookshop open. As we get to know Liam, we learn about his backstory and the reason he acted the way he did. I began to care about Liam and really wanted to see him have a change of heart. The last half of the book was delightful and I enjoyed it, but the beginning caused me to only give this one 3.5 stars.

Booked for Summer is a delightful, heartwarming rom-com where bookshop dreams collide with billionaire charm - fun, flirty, and impossible to put down. This was the cute summer rom-com read I really needed!

When Jade is given the opportunity to manage the Little Bay Book Shack for the summer on an island in Nantucket, she jumps at the chance. Leaving behind her real job and family she hopes that this is the right step in her career to become a book publisher.
But when she arrives, we find out that the billionaire resort owner has bought all the shops on the bay, including the book shop, and plans to knock them all down to make luxury condos. Of course we Jade only finds out who Liam really is after she’s started to fall for him….
This one is a fun, light read. I do enjoy a story where the characters don’t really realise who each other are, however they also really frustrate me because they always wait to long to let each other know!
Overall this was a fun summer book!
Thank you Kathryn Freeman, One More Chapter and Netgalley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honeys review!

Booked for the Summer was an easy, light read that I enjoyed in parts, but it didn’t quite stick with me. I liked the sunny, fun setting and the cute romance, which felt charming and breezy. However, some of the plot points and character choices felt a bit predictable, which kept it from fully capturing me. Overall, it was a pleasant, low-stakes read—enjoyable for a relaxed afternoon but not particularly memorable.

Cute. Way more spicy than I expected. I liked it enough to keep going. I didn’t love the MMC, he was really full of himself but that’s alright. Not one I’ll remember but kept me going to the end.

I am a big fan of books set on Nantucket so this was right up my alley. There was plenty of spice and I really enjoyed Jade as the FMC. Liam was not my favorite at first, but he grew on me throughout the story. They had good banter and their chemistry was great.

I absolutely loved the premise of this book and it was a really enjoyable summer romance read! I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one. I love a dual pov too. If you love enemies to lovers, spice, a book-loving FMC and a Billionaire MMC who wants to close the Nantucket bookstore!!!! Honestly go read this, I had a great time and it’s perfect for summer. I’m slightly annoyed with myself it took me so long to get to it!

This is steamyyyyyyyyyy and delicious! An absolutely smashing summer read with all the key ingredients to achieve perfection; a divine (almost) billionaire, a sassy yet clumsy heroine with a passion for books, a community drive to save the bookshop from being demolished and a yacht. I don’t think I could ask for anything more!

I found Booked for the Summer very cringey from the start. Unfortunately, the cringe level stayed consistent throughout the book. I think a lot of it was supposed to be clean humor but it didn’t work for me. The use of friggin then next sentence has the actual f- bomb isn’t wrong but I thought it was weird. The characters try to use clean language then randomly don’t, it felt like a big change of voice.

I’ve read several books in Kathryn Freeman’s rom com collection and this was just a disappointment. I wouldn’t even put this under the category of romcoms it borders on being more erotica. The premise centered around a bookstore and an almost billionaire is a good concept that is attractive to a lot of book lovers. However, there were more mentions of Jade’s body than there were of her personality. I wanted actual character development, and this just felt like it was meaning a certain quota of steamy and spicy scenes, which I didn’t even think we were well written. Liam is honestly the definition of manchild and caring about his grandma wasn’t enough to redeem him. I mean, I’m glad that they discussed her were coming bullying, but he was honestly just an asshole. For Jade being more of the sunshine character, she whined about her family a lot, and I hated that her main characterization was that she felt she was the beauty where her sister was the brains. I didn’t find this book fun to read, and it didn’t meet my expectations for this author. If she would’ve reduced the spiciness or the steam and actually worked on character development, I think it could’ve been a really great novel. 1.75⭐️, 3.5🌶

A very enjoyable summer read, featuring a romance you can’t help but root for. Both main characters are so likeable, as well as the secondary characters and the overall community!

Such a cute romcom! It read so smoothly and had me smiling the whole way through. I really enjoyed the story and characters—perfect if you want something light, sweet, and feel-good.

Thank you to netgalley for the advanced reader copy of this book. This was a great romance read. Loved the writing style.

Booked for Summer is Kathryn Freeman's latest romcom and it is filled with romance and books. A book with books in it is always going to pique my interest and I enjoyed my virtual trip to Nantucket Island.
I loved the main characters of Jade and Liam, although not at first I have to say. Jade's enthusiasm for running the bookshop is infectious so it's no wonder that she quickly makes friends as soon as she sets foot in Nantucket. After a misunderstanding at the ferry crossing, Jade meets Liam and their attraction to each other is plain to see. Of course, they both have their own hangups and neither of them are looking for anything long term...
The wonderfully drawn colourful characters pull this story along perfectly as well as the plot to close the bookshop. What??? Close the bookshop? I thought Kathryn Freeman wrote romcoms not horror stories! I just loved how the whole community came together to fight for a common cause, which also happened to be them all ganging up on Liam as he owns the resort. I really felt for him as there's a good reason why he wants make his resort the most exclusive on the island but he is a little blinkered because of it.
Flirty, charming and fun, Booked for Summer is an entertaining and enjoyable book that transports the reader across the Atlantic to the picturesque island of Nantucket. It's a fabulous summer read.
I received a digital ARC to read and review for the blog tour and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
