This story took me on such a fun and emotional ride!
Jade completely won me over — she’s the kind of heroine you instantly connect with: funny, relatable, and grounded. I loved being in her world, and her job at the charming bookshop honestly felt like living a dream.
Liam, on the other hand, really got under my skin at the beginning. He was so frustrating that I almost wanted to reach into the pages and shake him! But as the story developed, I started to understand him more, and of course, I eventually fell for his broody charm.
The Nantucket setting was dreamy and made me want to visit all over again. The touch of luxury combined with the small-town feel created the perfect backdrop for the story.
The chemistry between Jade and Liam was electric — full of tension, banter, and moments that had me flipping pages as fast as I could. I loved how their relationship kept evolving, making me genuinely invested in where they would end up.
The ending brought everything together beautifully. It was emotional, satisfying, and left me with the biggest smile (and maybe a few happy tears).

Spicy and Sweet, Booked for Summer delivers a romance ideal for summer beach bag, by the pool reading. The setting of Nantucket, the mix of American-English cultures, the bookshop element, the handsome flawed yet misunderstood billionaire mixes together well and the ending was especially on point. I loved Freeman's Nobody Puts Rom Coms in the Corner and while Booked for Summer was good, it didn't have as much emotional depth as the RomComs. Side note: def an open door read so might need to flip through some pages if you like your romances more closed door.

This book gets two stars instead of one because it sold me on Nantucket and now I really want to go.
Other than that, this book was not for me. Maybe it's for you and that's great, but there was no substance to the characters, everything was based on physical attraction. Though, if I think about it, there wasn't even that much sex?
The synopsis hooked me and I thought for sure this would be a great rivals-to-lovers, accidentally-slept-with-my-boss, finding-yourself book, but it missed the mark. The main characters fell flat and if I had to read one more time about her blonde hair and big tits (from either character), I was going to lose it. I almost dnf'd so many times.
The MMC (forgot his name, looked it up and it's Liam) had so many opportunities to open his mouth and say something, but when his inner monologue is "he felt a pulse of contentment [her leaning into him]. But then he accidentally looked down, caught sight of the valley of her breasts and that pulse turned hotter, needier," of COURSE he has no thoughts to say what needs to be said!
They spend the entire book horny and only open up to each other because the horniness doesn't fade. I do not recommend unless you want a beautiful description of Nantucket.
It wasn't until I was reading my notes to write this review that I remember he puts a drink in his pocket. A to-go cup of a hot beverage. IN HIS POCKET.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

Booked for Summer isn't the usual kind of book I'd go for, and it doesn't have me reaching for others of the same genre. I'm not a fan of heavy sexual description in books, and I didn't think that this was going to include that, which is why I didn't love it in the end.

I really wanted to like this book. I was kinda turned off by the main character from page one. I’m not a prude by no means but for me any book that has the main characters in bed within the first few chapters is a turn off. Apparently it’s only going to be about sex and no real story.. I’m sure there’s an audience out there for this book but it wasn’t me

I enjoyed the last Kathryn Freeman book I read, so I had a feeling I was going to like this one. I definitely did!
This book gave beach holiday billionaire romance vibes! Very swoony! Jade Taylor is a fellow bookish girlie who took a leap moving across the pond to work at Little Bay Bookshop in Nantucket for three months. She was looking to prove herself as well as a new adventure. What she was not looking for was romance. But in the island paradise like Nantucket, there was a chance of bumping into hunky billionaires like resort owner like Liam Haven. The obvious attraction was there from their first meeting, and there was no ignoring it. I liked that they didn't just jump into a one-night-stand. Well, it wasn't like any one-night-stand. Jade was the sunshine to Liam's grumpy. Liam has a hard exterior, all thanks to his experiences at boarding school and life circumstance. However, underneath that exterior, he is kind of a sweetheart. Jade definitely helped with that. He exhibited character growth as the story unfolds and developed a better relationship with his community and others.
This makes a great summer read! Reading this makes me want to go to Nantucket, lol!
>>> Grumpy x Sunshine
>>> Billionaire romance
>>> Boss x Employee
>>> Beach/island setting
>>> Cute cover, spicy content
Thank you @harpercollinsuk and @onemorechapter for the e-arc!

3.75⭐️ this is the first Kathryn Freeman book and I can’t wait to read the others!
The book was set in Nantucket and the author really sold the location.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between Liam and Jade - cute, flirty, sexy banter. Both characters had baggage and I enjoyed the depth this brought to the story. I have to say the chemistry between all the characters was so good. Particularly loved the sweet relationship between Liam and his grandmother.
Jeremy and Leroy really added to the story.
I absolutely tore through this book. Excellent summer story, perfect to read by the pool with a cocktail

2.5*
Thank you to One More Chapter for providing me with an ARC of the eBook.
So, I think Kathryn Freeman was the first author to introduce me to spicier books back in 2020 and I have loved so many of her books in the past. This one just missed the mark for me.
I loved the setting of this book, I had never heard of the island of Nantucket and also haven't read any other books set here before.
I liked Lucy and Liam as our main characters, but I didn’t feel overly attached to them or any of the side characters. I just wanted a bit more from the plot I think. Some sections felt a bit rushed or glossed over and then some sections dragged on a bit. I did feel like we were going in circles with the relationship at times.

📖 Booked For Summer 📖
This contemporary romance follows Jade, a book lover who takes on managing the Little Bay Book Shack for the summer. Her plans take an unexpected turn when she encounters Liam, a billionaire resort owner who becomes her boss. Liam only reads contracts for fun and poses a challenge to Jade's mission to save the bookshop from being absorbed into his resort. Jade makes it her mission to teach Liam the value of happily-ever-afters and also fight to preserve the bookshop and its charm.
I loved the premise so so much but it just fell a little flat for me although I’m never a fan of insta lust or a miscommunication trope. This was a fun, easy summer romance read but didn’t feel anything set it apart really. I would have liked more exploration of Liams trauma and the characters emotional growth personally.

I had such high, high hopes for this book. I truly thought it was going to be the rom-com to kick off my summer, but instead it sank in the water.
Even to get the story started, the pacing felt incredibly slow, which was interesting, because Liam and Jade's romance was anything but slow. There were also just too many moments of unnecessary drama that they themselves create. I mean, I get you're trying to write a book and make it interesting, but it made me not like the characters and I actually found myself yelling at them more than once. It was *almost* a DNF for me.
**Thank you NetGalley and One More Chapter/Harper Collins UK for sending this book for review. All opinions are my own.**

I'm a sucker for a book set on Nantucket, so I thought this would be a fun read. It was a decent light read, but I really do think that it could have been significantly shorter than 384 pages.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

This was a cute, fun read!!! Perfect for your pool bag or vacation tote! The book is set in Nantucket. Jade is trying to find her passion in life and signs up to run a bookstore in Nantucket, 3000 miles from home.
In walks hottie Liam with a chip on his shoulder and smoldering eyes. Plot twist, Liam is now the proud owner of said bookstore and wants to demolish it to expand his hotel empire.
The setting, the secondary characters and the chemistry, makes this an easy read. You will be booing and cheering throughout this book. Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the advance read. Be sure to reserve your copy on release day, April 30th

I was drawn to the small town, beach vibes of this book and it paid off. It did start off a bit slow, but it was still a fun summery read

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!
I loved the setting of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. It was cute and good beach read. It was a little long for me, but I otherwise enjoyed the story and the characters.

This book really grew on me. At first, I was a taken a bit back by how quickly the sexual tension and the sex happened. They meet, and not ten minutes later, Liam is telling Jade all the ways he wants to f**k her. I did not appreciate the fact that Liam found out Jade moved all the way to Nantucket from England to work in a bookstore that he was closing down, and he did not tell her, and continued to sleep with her. There were a few times in this book when Liam really messed up, and I wish there was more character development around that other than the fact that he was bullied by rich kids as a child. Jade is too bubbly and warm for him. But like I said, somehow this book grew on me. Maybe it was the Nantucket of it all. If you are a sucker for a beach read, a small town read, and you REALLY love a grumpy hero who needs tons of redeeming, then you'll likely enjoy this book.

DNF at 11%. Nantucket sounds amazing and so does the bookstore Jade is there to manage. Sadly, I’m not big on Jade or Liam and how the first 10% of this book is mostly these two being hot for each other but I also felt none of this super sizzling hot chemistry they apparently had. The interactions Jade has with other characters don’t feel genuine and a little awkward. Jade’s breasts have been mentioned an extraordinary amount in such a short amount of time. Mostly by Jade herself as she documents which men are checking them out. I’ve read and enjoyed a few Kathryn Freeman books before so it’s a shame this one and its characters didn’t gel with me.

I was interested in this romance based on its bookish premise and having enjoyed some of the author's previous novels. But the first few chapters turned me off with an immature main character and one-dimensional instant lust between the leads.

A cute summer beach read. Jade is visiting Nantucket for the summer to run a local book shop. Her first night there Jade meets Liam and the two connect right away. It is until after she meets him she learns he is the owner of the hotel resort that is buying the bookshop and wanting to knock it down. The two spend their time fighting their connection as Jade tries to save the book shop with the help of the other locals.
Read if you like:
Summer love
Billionaire romance
One night stand

the synopsis of this book was so good, but unfortunately the other parts of it didn’t live up to the expectations.
the mmc has serious issues, which is very understandable when looking at his childhood. he’s traumatized but for some reason he doesn’t want to change? he believes that jade is the person to change him, but is she? she’ll suffer because liam is mentally unstable.
for this reason i don’t understand why people were pushing jade to get together with liam. wrongggggg!! maybe later they’d match again but now i just don’t see the connect
i enjoyed most scenes of them together because the chemistry was incredible. i truly like how the author writes about emotions and feelings, especially in 3rd pov

DNF.
ARC review:
Jade is a book lover who decides to work at a bookstore for the summer in Nantucket. Liam, a billionaire who owns a resort next to her bookstore, becomes her boss. Unlike Jade, Liam has no interest in books at all. Determined to change that, Jade is determined to make him appreciate books in order to save her bookstore.
I thought this book would be a cute palate cleanser between my other reads. The premise to me seemed very cute and I thought it would be the perfect kind of fluffy summer romance read. And I like books about books. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this book at all and I didn't really like anything, aside from the setting. I found the main characters unlikable, frustrating and shallow, and I struggled to care about them, so I didn't feel any excitement to read further. This book is very insta-lust, and their feelings for one another are more focused on their appearance and just physicality overall. I didn't feel any connection between them besides lust. :/
If you’re looking for a cute summer romance featuring a book lover and bookstore owner who falls for a billionaire in Nantucket, this might be the book for you. This just wasn't for me, I think.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, One More Chapter and the author for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.
