This was a cute read, and I did grow fond of many of the characters. This book featured the grumpy/sunshine trope, and Alaric was also eccentric which made it all the more fun. I think overall, there was a lot going on and the book could have been shortened a bit. I liked the added storyline of the book club, but I felt like maybe it was almost out of place? I liked the book club member's characters and their interactions and their storyline in general, but I didn't think it was necessary in this book, specifically, if that makes sense. Overall, I think this was a unique read and it was perfect for spooky season!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bacchanalia House for the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

This book was so fun really also made me cry, Alaric and Winnie were indeed one of the best couples I've read, both had been hurt for different reasons but still they found a way to talk and solve things which is indeed important there's so much I want to say, the mystery involving the killings and they struggles they had.. I can't wait to see what's coming next

Fangs for Nothing is a very entertaining read (just add a little *spice*) which I have been pitching to friends and co-workers as “a cozy mystery but make it a paranormal romance.” This first iteration of The Nevermore Murder Club and Smutty Book Coven is a delectable beginning to a series that was spurred from Steffanie Holmes’ other series, The Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries (which is also canon in Fangs for Nothing as a book series that one of the side characters wrote and experienced).
Winnie is a Professional Organizer with The Clutter Queens who has taken on a three-week job in the middle of the English countryside... in a castle! Little does Winnie know that the client she is taking on in Lord Alaric Valerian, the local grumpy and recluse vampire. After a meet-cute in the local pub where Alaric rescues Winnie (except they don’t know who they are to each other yet) from the local creep who was hitting on her, a body, the local creep, was discovered in the alley behind the pub that was “husked” or completely drained of blood. As Winnie gets settled into the village, she stumbles on the Nevermore Bookshop and the leaders of the book coven talking about the murder and the possibility of Alaric being the killer. Follow Winnie and Aleric on their journey of decluttering Alaric’s many centuries of hobby build up, pretending to be fiancés when Winnie’s ex-fiancé who ran off with her best friend shows up- and when Alaric’s mom shows up with a vampire princess she’s matching him up with, and doing their best to declutter their own minds. Oh, and did I mention that Winnie still has no idea that vampires exist?!
I honestly really enjoyed this book, even though it tends to fall into some of the basic fantasy and paranormal tropes; hence why I only took half a star off, the book was just that good. As soon as I told my library co-workers I was reading it, they were all hooked on the premise as well. After looking into seeing what other Steffanie Holmes books my library had, I stumbled on her website where I discovered that this series was a spin-off of another series that is mentioned in this book?! No need to read the original series first, but it might help with filling in some context.
I have to give props to Steffanie Holmes for her accurate depiction of a character with a visual impairment, which can get tricky sometimes if an author writes about a character that has traits that they themselves do not have, but Steffanie is also visually impaired so it was a good relief to find that out after doing my digging into her website.
I enjoyed the text blurbs at the beginning of most of the chapters because it gave good insight into where the character’s mindset is at, a little background into what is coming up, and their interpersonal relationships that you don’t see as much on page; this is also true about the book club chapters.
I have seen other reviews saying that there was a lot of repetitive exposition and monologuing that was unnecessary, but I believe that those times were critical in understanding the thought process of the characters. Both of the main characters are battling some mental illness and not having anyone to talk to about their personal lives and the problems they are having (sometimes for centuries), so since the book is written in first person, it makes sense that sometimes these characters would be spiraling and repeating things to try and talk themselves down off a ledge.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Really liked the beginning but the one thing that brought this down for me was the third act breakup.
I was expecting the third act breakup to be her not wanting the become a vampire, which did happen, but what really got me was her saying he's a monster and that she didn't want to be a monster (expected but still don't like when that happens because like c'mon if you love him like you say you do then you don't think he's a monster).
I also did not like when she just assumed that he would turn her into a vampire and when she asked him, she never let him answer just assumed what it would be. This becomes a problem because that is not what he wants. He knows that she would not want to become a vampire and he didn't want her to do anything she didn't want to do. BUT SHE DOESN"T LET HIM SAY THAT.
Then after she leaves and tells him she does not want to be with him, he calls her and tells her he is moving to Italy. THEN she tells him that she loves him and doesn't want him to leave her and that she actually left because she wanted him to chase after her. NO. I do not like when people do that. If you tell someone you do not want to be with them, they should not be obligated to follow you and get you to change your mind, that's ridiculous.
Finally, she blamed him for having hundreds of pictures of her that he painted and not throwing them out because it made a mess. I find that rude and inconsiderate. He has been making art and collecting it for hundreds of years, she has been there for three weeks. Sorry girl but it's gonna take him longer than that to change the pattern. She also did nothing to appreciate his art, really just made it a whole thing and saying that he is a horrible person and just like her mother and how could he do that to her. It felt like she never really thought about him, and only really cared about herself.
Highly enjoyed the side characters. The book club was super cute and I really loved that there was a community in this book rather than just the main two characters. Was getting confused on who all the girls in the book club were because there were so many but I am interested in seeing what other books come out in the series.

This was a fun little read that is perfect for the fall and Halloween season. It’s a binge worthy book with characters that perfectly compliment each other! Winnie and Alaric were a joy to read. The plot was even more interesting, I’d even say it was quite unique. The combination of the book club, Alaric hiding his vampire identity and then the accusations of being a murderer made it all very compelling. I’ll look out for this author now as I really enjoyed this, much to my surprise!

Steffanie Holmes has a new super fan!!
I requested this book from NetGalley as it sounded like the kind of quirky, paranormal romance that I love and this book was everything I wanted and needed in my life!
I mean, a vampire hiring a professional organiser to help him clear out his closets?! How could you NOT?!
This book contains:
🧛🏻♂️ Brooding sexy vampire MC/love interest
💖 Sweet but empowered and relatable MC
🔥 CHEMISTRY AND SPARK THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
🌶️ Spice!
📖 A really fantastic narrative that kept you turning the pages!
📚 A smutty book coven that feels like found family from the first moment you meet them
🔪 Murder mystery!!
📦 Hoarding rep. I didn't know how much I needed/wanted to read about this
Since reading this I've already started on Steffanie's back catalogue and am now already at book 2 in the Nevermore series! 😅
I absolutely adored this! If you like paranormal romance that doesn't take itself too seriously this is a must read!
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the chance to read this ARC!

Let me tell you I was nervous going into this book because of how thick it was, but let me tell you IT WAS SO WORTH IT! I absolutely loved this book. Stefanie wrote this book in a way that you feel transported to the world she has created, and it is so good. The banter, mystery, tension, paranormal aspects make you truly become so invested in where this story was going! I love that not only did we have the main story line between Alaric and Winnifred, but we also have the story line of the book group/ coven solving m-urders that take place in the town and it's soo good. This is my first time reading Stephanie Holmes' work and let me tell you it will not be the last! I now plan to work through her backlog of books! I need something to fill the void why I wait for the next book in this series because that clip hanger was brutal! As always, read trigger warnings and trust me when I say this should definitely be added to your fall tbr!
Book 5/5
Spice 3/5

Ok how adorable is this title and the description of this book? But omg why is it almost 600 pages? I cannot commit. I have commitment issues.

I absolutely loved everything about this book! The atmosphere, the cozy vibes, the friend group, the settings. All with a great blend of hot vampire. I just didn't want to put it down and I'm super sad that book 2 isn't out because I wasn't ready to leave these characters. I will definitely be checking out the authors back list while I wait for book 2! Definitely a must read.

3/5 stars!!
Cute romance with light political intrigue complete with a brooding vampire and organization obsessed love interest!
The plot revolves around the sparks between Lord Alaric Valerian, a reclusive vampire who desperately needs help organizing his castle for a an upcoming ball his mother is throwing, and Winnie Preston, Clutter Queen, creator of the Winnie WINS system, and the way Alaric is going to get the castle ready for this ball he really doesn’t want to have.
Some things I didn’t really enjoy about this book were:
- The sheer amount of side characters with lore that would randomly pop up. This could be because I didn’t read the prequel series about Mina, but if it’s a standalone I shouldn’t have to. I get it was supposed to be found family but they were also just sometimes annoying.
- The sleuthing felt pointless. The book club hunted (kind of but not really) and found the murderer for a good chunk of the book just for there to be another murder, so it felt almost useless.
- Random lore that didn’t get explained/ ended somewhat abruptly. Dora and her husband, Celeste acting strange after the last murder, and Alaric attacking patrick in the second chapter but also never bringing it up again. And then Arabella’s whole plot line with Gideon Blake coming out of nowhere on the last page. I just didn’t feel like this story was wrapped up, and I know it’s a series but I have questions.
However, this book was cute and interesting and something I hadn’t encountered before. I just had higher hopes going into it. Overall, I’d recommend the book for a quick and easy read but be ready to need the next book for actual answers.

I'm not usually one for a vampire romance but this one was so cute! Alaric is charming, as one would expect from a centuries-old vampire, but also adorably naive about the modern world. And Winnie is a woman who wants to step away from her past and just be loved.
I would be open to reading further books set in this universe.

Enjoyed this different style of vampire book for me. The duel pov works perfectly and I really enjoyed the ‘modern’ feel to it.
I found it an enjoyable read and would recommend!!

✨ “I know it’s hard for you to let me see you being weak,” he murmurs. “You have always had to be so strong. You’re the one who cleans up everyone’s mess, so you never get to be a mess yourself. Well, I want to love you whether you are a quiet day or a raging hurricane. I want you to fall apart for me so I can love every piece of you. Give me your wounds, Winnie, and I will bleed for you.” ✨
When clutter queen Winnie faces heartbreak from her boyfriend and best friend, she retreats to the cozy town of Argleton to declutter the reclusive Lord Valerian's castle. But what begins as a simple task spirals into a thrilling murder mystery with a quirky book club—and an unexpected connection to the enigmatic lord.
This book was exactly what I needed at the moment. I’ve been in such a slump the last couple weeks but this book has brought me out of it.
It’s such a fun, cozy and fast paced story. All the characters are well established and really draw you in. I hope each one of the book club girls get a book of their own.
I liked that trauma and dealing with it in healthy ways was spoke on a lot. I went into this book thinking it would just be a quick, quirky book but it touched on things I’ve not really seen before in books, such as hoarders and the trauma that not only the hoarder faces but those around them do. Being in Winnie’s head and seeing how she processed things was done very tastefully.
Overall this was a lovely book, filled with fun, loveable characters that I cannot wait to read more about

I loved the humor in the story, I laughed so much mostly at the beginning that when Winnie was being driven up to the castle I had to put down the book for a second to compose myself. That is a delight to find in a book.
The friendships on both sides of the main characters are exceptional. How everyone was involved in helping in the end. Each of the members of the book club seemed very unique and I enjoyed their dynamic a lot. While for Gideon and Reginald,
I loved how they manage to understand each other's quirks and feelings, figuring out the roots of them and giving them the importance they need. The healing aspect of the story is very well made and it has so much depth than I thought at the beginning. I was in for a fun and cute vampire story but this was so much more.
It seemed to me that Callista accepted their plan a bit too easily. I know she was getting something out of it but still until that point she seemed heartless and ruthless so I thought that it would have been more in character to oppose their happiness just to get things done the way she wanted them. So It was surprising to see her go along with the plan but mostly to see that she cared for Alaric.
Very excited for book two! There are some secrets overall in the book club to unfold so eager to see what comes next.

This was such a cute and charming vampire romance. Winnie had so many more layers to her character than I was expecting. I am not used to romantasy novels of this style having more than a generic HEA storyline so the extra trauma and layers worked for me. I give Fangs for Nothing a solid 4/5 stars, and I will add this author to my favorites list.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bacchanalia House for the opportunity to review Fangs For Nothing by Steffanie Holmes

One scorchingly hot (and oblivious) vampire, and a professional organiser with demons of her own.
This was a perfect read for this time of year, with a murder to solve, a castle to clean and a cast of bizarre and unique characters making up "The Nevermore Murder Club & Slutty Book Coven".

Fangs for nothing is a supernatural romance that had my heart wrenching.
I absolutely loved Winnie and Alaric! They were adorable from the start and the chemistry between them was chefs kiss!
The little book club they had is adorable and reminds me of my bookish friends when we all get together in the way they chat and gossip.
The whole murder mystery aspect was really good and made the plot so interesting!
This is one of my faves books of 2024!!

This book is perfect for readers looking for a great rom-com. I enjoyed the banter and the story was very well written.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶
This was such a fun read 🤭
Poor Alaric, that man can not catch a break.
👉 Chapter 32.... need I say more?
And my-oh-my, he knows just what to say 🥵
“As much as I love the feel of your mouth on me, I am the one who in charge. I need to know how you taste before I come undone.” - Alaric
Where do I start? 🫠
This was such an interesting combination of EVERYTHING that I want and expect to be in a 'Fall Romantasy'.

KICKING MY FEET.
'I may be a hot mess but at least I'm a fun hot mess' Winnie is so relatable it had me in stitches.
I was enraptured by Alaric early on. This book had me swooning, I adored the Nevermore murder club and smutty book coven. The friendships built are amazing and it made me sad to think they won't have the friendships for all eternity. I am intrigued to see more of these characters lives. The relationship between Winnie and Alaric I really enjoyed. Winnies shock to obvious findings were hilarious! Toes curling fluff, I really enjoyed this book my only criticism is Winnie being too forgiving.
