Juliet Frost answers the door to a delivery and finds that she has been given an old family chest, full of closely guarded family secrets. Before she can look too closely at the chest, she is told that she needs to get a manuscripts and have it on the desk of her boss by the first thing Sunday morning. If she fails, the promotion that her boss has been dangling in front of her for ages will disappear.
While Juliet is trying to figure out how she is going to manage this, she is convinced by her best friend to come to a party instead. Incredibly, the party is being hosted by the author, and Juliet manages to get the manuscript.
Sitting in the bar of the hotel, reading the ridiculous manuscript, Will Duncan grabs her attention and they spend the night together and Juliet has no intention of seeing Will again.
But up he pops. And he is able to help her with the questions about her past that the old family chest has awakened in her.
Apparently, she is the result of an unauthorised love affair and there is a secret, magical christmas village called Yule which is hidden in the north pole that she is connected to.

This is the second book in the Village of Yule books. but the first that I have read.
I very much enjoyed this and shall be going back to read the first book and will be keeping an eye out for the next on the run up to Christmas 2025.

Tis The Season For Secrets is a festive novel about a woman who after she turns 26 discovers, through a family chest and old letters, that she is from a secret village in the North Pole and her father's side of the family have all been banished, never to return. She has been living on the Outside all her life, totally unaware of Yule, or that her mother is still in the village and unable to contact her. Handsome Will, the Guardian assigned to her has already crossed lines to deliver this much information but soon they are crossing more lines and breaking Yule laws left, right and centre.

I loved the premise of this festive novel and there were some nice moments but overall it felt like the pacing was too slow and the story overlong, though things did pick up in the final chapters. I would have liked to see Juliet's Outside family get their comeuppance for their terrible treatment of her but there was no resolution. Will was unerringly patient with Juliet and it felt like she constantly made terrible decisions and put him in dicey situations, though she did redeem herself at the end. I likes Will very much but struggled to warm to Juliette a lot of the time, it felt like she had quite a bit of growing up to do.

This is quite a sweet book with mostly fade to black scenes and a cheerful happy ending which wraps up on Christmas Day.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC, this is my honest opinion.

We are back in Yule! When Juliet Frost’s grandmother dies and a mystery chest is delivered to her door. Juliet embarks on a journey of self discovery! Will she get more than she bargained for ? Or will be she banished under the Frost name?

Having read “The naughty or Nice Clause” and it being such an unputdownable book when I saw this on netgalley I jumped at the chance.

Although this is the second book in the series this could be read as a stand alone something the author has done very well.

This author is fantastic. Her writing just jumps off the page at you making you want to read on. You can feel every ounce of emotion pouring off the page and you find yourself waking at all hours to read it. The descriptions of Yule are second to none and you really feel like you’ve travelled by bell!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book. I wanted to state I did DNF this book after reaching 43%.

This book has such a good holiday vibe and feel to it and the characters feel like real people with real issues. There is a fantasy aspect of Yule and the North Pole as well as traveling by bell. I liked the story line but I just really could not get into it like I wanted to. The largest thing for me was the insta love/extreme connection between Will and Juliet. I would’ve liked them to truly get to know each other a little more in the beginning of the story as I feel like it would’ve made the connection feel a little more natural for me.

The writing was phenomenal! I enjoyed the writing, depth of characters, romantic scenes, and the holiday vibes.

I would recommend this for someone looking for a holiday romance with aspects of fantasy!

I'd like to extend a sincere thank you to Netgalley and CallaghanWriter for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

My rating:
⭐⭐⭐ I mostly liked and connected with it.

Review:
The story was cute, and I love all the Christmasy vibes. I’m not a huge fan of the insta-love trope; that first night together at the hotel took me by complete surprise. I typically prefer some build up to romance. I appreciate being able to get this story from both perspectives. The pacing was steady throughout. I’ve really gotten into low fantasy romance lately, and this is a prime example of that low fantasy love story with a wonderful Christmas theme. I don't think I'm the intended audience for this particular novel, but I think that the intended audience will love every moment of the ride.

4 ⭐!
I just love Yule and I really enjoyed both books of this series. This book is the perfect mix of cute, steamy and a little bit of mystery.
I felt a little sad for Juliet for how she got separated from her mum and how her dad and step mum never really wanted her. Therefore I was really glad that she had her best friend Margot and I really loved their friendship. I’m so glad how everything worked out in the end.

Hopefully there will be another book about Yule, because I’d be quite sad to say goodbye to this world already.

A fun little romp through a magical village in the North Pole that is secret from the rest of the world and can only be accessed via Bell flight :/ Not at all my kind of book, but I read it with a pinch of salt and just wanted something festive and light, and this certainly delivered.

I really loved Tis The Season For Secrets! I enjoyed the first book in the series, but I really liked how the author brought the spice with this one. I was missing that in the first one. I love Yule and I can’t wait to see where this series goes. I hope we get Harvey and Margot next. My only complaint would be that the author used British words when they were supposed to be in New York. I didn’t mind the British spellings, but the words (lift, queue, mince pies, etc.) didn’t fit the location. I think that the vernacular should fit the location, no matter the nationality of the author.

I received an ARC of Tis The Season For Secrets from
NetGalley. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

I thought this was a cute story! It moved semi slow but the characters made up for feeling like it was taking a while. Loved Juliet and Will relationship and their jokes.

If I could crawl into a magical world it would definitely be Yule. I love this series so much and love the beautiful world that Callaghan has created with a fresh spin on the North Pole. I really like Juliet and thought she was a great character. Her and Margot have a fantastic friendship and I liked how genuine they felt. Will was a delight and I loved the connection between him and Juliet. I liked that this one had some mystery and family drama in it. I'm not even sure how i went from cozy to terrified to sobbing hysterical happy tears all in under 5 min, but I definitely did! I can't wait to see what else is in store for the characters from Yule and what more mischief they will get into!

overall i really enjoyed this book. I loved how characters from the preivous book were still in this book. The tension between juliet and will was great. I enjoy how the town of Yule is it's own organism. That it has its own history and character and like a living organism it is in the process of changing and evolving.

I will keep this short and sweet. I was so excited to see this advertised on instagram and raced to get a copy on NetGalley. Thank you!! So glad I did.
I raced through this cute and cozy romance in a few nights on my Kindle. It's the perfect book for the holidays, being not too complicated but also so much fun. There are enough important plot pieces to keep the reader engaged, especially since the main puzzle piece revolves around Juliet never really knowing what happened to her mom and family when she was young. Why did her grandfather always treat her so poorly? Why did her grandmother leave her this chest and hide it from her? And who exactly is Will?

I did not read the first book in the series but I can say that it works as a standalone. It reminded me of "the Santa Claus" movie with Tim Allen, and him learning that the North Pole was in fact, a real place. I enjoyed so many things - the growing affection between Will and Juliet, the continued mystery of why the Frost family was banished and where her mother was, the funny banter between Juliet and her best friend, and all the 'sugar plum' imagery that came to my head as I tried to fathom what Yule would look like. I'll definitely be looking for the other books in this series, and following Kate Callaghan from here on out!

Definitely add it to your holiday TBR!

An original Christmas storyline for the WIN! I love cozy holiday romances, but it is hard to find original stories. Katie Callaghan did a great job writing something unique for those of us that love cozy Christmas books but crazy something unique.

I adored Yule, loved all the characters, and appreciated the little bit of spice peppered into the storyline. Will and Juliet were adorable.

I am excited to read more by this author and step back into Yule!

Thanks to CallaghanWriter and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first time reading Kate Callaghan and although this is book 2 in the Village of Yule series, it was fine to read as a standalone. This was a cute holiday read and a nice way to start of the season with lots of my favorite tropes. In the beginning, I found it a little difficult to get hooked into the story, but it was definitely worth reading until the end. There are a lot of little plot twists and so much to Juliet's background that brings the story together nicely. I really liked Will's character and his hidden identity charm and all the side characters introduced throughout the book. I will definitely be going back to read book 1 to find out Lyla and Mason's story and the rest of the magic the village of Yule offers.

A cute holiday read with magical realism and dual POVs! Although it is the second installment of the series, it can be read as a standalone. It's a forbidden romance which starts as a one night stand, but the MCs just can't stay apart from each other. I recommend it to romance fans who want a quick and fun read!
