This was okay… perhaps it was my mood and that’s possible, I will reread again when it more fits what I’m wanting.

An easy read with a new take on the typical paranormal romance. I appreciate that Brehm focuses on older FMCs than typical and allows them the baggage that would be appropriate for their lives.
My only complaint is the ending - it felt a little too perfect wrap up for me. It didn't really get me to forgive the MMC or win me back over to why they would actually make it work after that.

This was a cute, short love story.
I like the fact that while the story is quite short, the author manages to create real and complex characters, taking inspiration from her own life.
This book is focused on the love story between a siren who thinks love is just a certain way to be doomed, and a yoga instructor that just went through a very hard time in her life and it's back to her childhood area. The story moves quite fast, but I think it's understandable for a short book. There are a few issues, but I like that it talks about how sometimes people are only there to help you get through tough periods and/or depression and that's okay, to be just that and still be grateful for it.
I did enjoy this book, and I will read books from this author again when I'm looking for a short and sweet paranormal romance.

As a standalone Romantasy book, this hit all the marks. Set in the real world, but with an element of fantasy, where sirens are real, we follow the story of Lena who is dealing with the loss of her Grandmother and her recent divorce. We follow Lena as she moves from one chapter of her life, to the next, wondering how she will ever stop feeling lonely.
This novella was well-written and the plot was very enjoyable. It got a little ‘cheesy’ towards the end, but who doesn’t want a bit of cheese in their life?
