I read Seven Summers last year, and knew Paige Toon was one of those authors who would hook me with pretty much whatever she wrote.
What If I Never Get Over You absolutely hooked me, reeling me in so much that I read the whole book in a day!
Set in three parts, the story is told by Ellie. We start a few years previously, where she is nearing the end of what should have been an adventure of a lifetime, inter-railling around Europe. Only circumstances are much sadder than she expected. As she gets ready to finish the trip, and plod into the family business, continuing to bow to the demands of her parents, she meets Ash, a young Welsh guy, who has the free soul she years to have, too. And he's hot.
Fighting attraction is always tough, especially in these circumstances, but they forge a connection through shared situations and mutual attraction.
Only plans don't always work out.
After losing touch, the second part shows Elli happy in her new life. She's not totally forgotten Ash, having taken some of his life advice, and is forging ahead with her dream job as a gardener. Ash comes bounding back into her life unexpectedly, causing turmoil and even more attraction.
The third part jumps ahead again, drawing the story to a rocky, but ultimately heartwarming conclusion.
Oh goodness, I loved this, so much!
The book explores many themes, including grief, dealing with parental expectations, conforming to societal norms, and not feeling good enough.
Was the conclusion a surprise? Not really, but that's not a bad thing. There are many rocky moments before we reach that point of satisfaction!
A very good read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House, Cornerstone for an ARC.

What if I never Get Over You? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My first read of 2025 and what a way to start the year. Paige Toon never lets you down. A rollercoaster of emotions; a beautifully written story about love, heartbreak and self worth.
I fell in love with Ellie and Ash instantly. Both such likeable characters with realistic flaws and troubles that take you away from your own problems, while simultaneously relating to them. Sometimes you want to shake them and sometimes you just want to hug them. Two of my favourite Paige Toon characters so far.
Highly recommend to any romance fan.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Paige Toon has done it again! A beautiful love story that borders on both the fantastical and realistic as you feel 'all the feels' in an enchanted modern love story. Toon always captures true pain and true love and Ellie is an exciting breath of fresh air with a troubled history and the ability to love a little too hard. This will be THE summer read of 2025.

I'm a huge Toon fan and loved that I got this copy via Netgalley.
I loved this book, I was hooked from the very first page. I really enjoyed experiencing Lisbon through the book and the connection between Ellie and Ash being so quick.
I felt Ellie and Ash complimented each other so very well from the first page to the last page.
Throwing in different lifestyles and relationships, it was very much a rollercoaster.

For the first time trying this author, I can honestly say that I loved this book so much. It took me through such an emotional rollercoaster and the charcoal and the story behind each character really showcased their development. I am so thankful to the author and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC .

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.
I am so greatful to have had the chance to read this i have been such a huge fan of Paige Toons work ever since i first read only love can hurt like this when i say i did a happy squeal when i recieved the approval email im not kidding. I had such high expectations for this book and from beginning to end I adored it. I was invested in the characters quickly and was rooting for them from the get go. A heart warming cute easy read that I would definitely recommend. It was everything and more.

Paige Toon never lets me down!! What a book, I tend not to read the ‘blurb’ when I start one of her books, I like the storyline to surprise me.
My favourite thing about any book is one which gets straight into it from page one and ‘what if I never get over you’ does just that, we’re thrown straight into the Ellie & Ash show and I loved having a front seat! I laughed, I got teary and at times a little annoyed!!!
I read this in a day, I couldn’t put it down!!

One of the best romance books I've read in a long time! I liked that this book focused on the relationship between Ellie and Ash, rather than on any kind of spice. It was lovely to read abut the ups and downs of their lives and I'd recommend the book to other readers.

Paige Toon will always be an instant read author for me and I loved this book! The characters felt relatable and I loved the connection between the MMC and FMC! I'll definitely be buying the physical copy when I can!

Wow! Absolutely loved the book! This book is all heart. Th characters are brilliantly written. Loved the premise and storyline. The author does an amazing job with the setting and the locations. Her use of a tourist premise is excellently done and I loved how she brought a second chance romance and the concept of timing to be important when it comes to love.
This is an ideal holiday read and one of my top romance reads as we end the year. Absolutely recommend!
Thank you Random House UK, Cornerstone, Penguin and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

As always another fabulous book by Paige Toon telling the story of Ash and Ellie, Heartwarming, unputdownable this is a page turner that will keep you coming back for more. Exectly what you expect from any book by Paige.
Looking forward to her next one.

I enjoyed the growth of the main characters. It was lovely to see them grow and flourish into themselves, determined to be the next generation to make a difference.
One thing to improve would be, for some chapters from Ash’s perspective. It felt like some details were missing because we couldn’t hear the story fully from his side.
One thing that was frustrating was Ella constantly not beleving in Ash’s word and the part added on with the father at the end of the book seemed out of nowhere. Other than that, a good read with some pretty memorable characters. Would recommend.

A great holiday read. I wanted the characters to find each other and get over the obstacles. Loved the detail about space - felt I learnt something and also more about flowers

What If I Never Get Over You follows the story of Ellie and Ash. They first meet while travelling abroad, they lose contact, and then unexpectedly meet again six years later. It is the perfect example of meeting the right person at the wrong time. Their story is beautifully written and had me hooked immediately! I stayed awake until 3am reading it and then completed it as soon as I woke up!
You can tell Paige does a great deal of research about the places in her books. Most of this was set in North Wales, a place I have visited many times as my in-laws live on the Shropshire/Welsh border. Reading about towns and landmarks I have been to really made me smile.
This is the second book I have read by Paige Toon now, having read Seven Summers earlier this year; she really has a knack for creating realistic stories that make you feel all the emotions. I will definitely be reading more of her work.
What If I Never Get Over You will be released in April 2025 and is available to preorder now.
Thank you to NetGalley and Paige Toon for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Yet another fantastic page turner from Paige Toon, wonderful characters with a great storyline, thoroughly enjoyed & looking forward to her next book

Review: 4 Stars
What If I Never Get Over You by Paige Toon is a heartwarming contemporary romance that delivers a delightful mix of emotional depth and escapism. With its richly developed characters and evocative settings in Portugal and North Wales, this novel is both engaging and heartfelt. Toon’s ability to bring real-life locations to life adds an immersive layer to the story—I even found myself googling some of the places and adding them to my travel list. The plot is a classic “right place, wrong time” romance, with moments of miscommunication and a will-they-won’t-they dynamic that keeps you hooked. Paige Toon’s writing feels like a warm hug, making this a perfect pick for fans of emotional, character-driven romances.
While undeniably heartwarming, the pacing occasionally felt rushed, leaving some moments a little underdeveloped. Despite this, the book still manages to hit all the right emotional notes, capturing everything from joy to heartbreak. It’s a solid introduction to Paige Toon’s work for new readers and a treat for existing fans. Though not without its flaws, this is a charming, feel-good read that balances fun with emotional resonance, and it will leave you eager to explore more of Toon’s novels.
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read this ARC for my review.

What If I Never Get Over You is another brilliant hug in a book from Paige Toon.
Likeable characters and an engaging plot, this is fun with a whole lot of heart.
4 stars.

I feel so lucky to have received the Earc for this and what can I say, Paige has absolutely smashed it, again!!!
Massive 5 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I could not put this book down. The detail, the emotions, the rawness of it all. I loved Ash and Ellie, i felt like it was my own heart being pulled and broken and then put back together again a million times.
I would 1000% recommend this book!

What If I Never Get Over You is a heartwarming contemporary romance novel with richly developed characters that you can't help but like. Set in Portugal and North Wales, near Wrexham, I could imagine the scenery and the real life places the characters visit. In fact I googled some of them and intend to visit them myself next year. (If Paige Toon is ever in need of extra income then she could easily walk into a job in travel blogging).
It is a right place, wrong time, miscommunication, will they, won't they book which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I recommend it to readers who enjoy books by Tammy Robinson, Jojo Moyes etc.

Wow, Paige Toon has done it again! What an amazing book, I was hooked from page one. I felt like I was in the pages of the book seeing it all for real as I was reading. The love between Ellie and Ash just pure magic. I can’t wait to read it again!
If the was more stars than 5 I would definitely add extras ❤️
