Wow! Absolutely loved the book! This book is all heart. Th characters are brilliantly written. Loved the premise and storyline. The author does an amazing job with the setting and the locations. Her use of a tourist premise is excellently done and I loved how she brought a second chance romance and the concept of timing to be important when it comes to love.

This is an ideal holiday read and one of my top romance reads as we end the year. Absolutely recommend!

Thank you Random House UK, Cornerstone, Penguin and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

4 ⭐️

I enjoyed the growth of the main characters. It was lovely to see them grow and flourish into themselves, determined to be the next generation to make a difference.

One thing to improve would be, for some chapters from Ash’s perspective. It felt like some details were missing because we couldn’t hear the story fully from his side.

One thing that was frustrating was Ella constantly not beleving in Ash’s word and the part added on with the father at the end of the book seemed out of nowhere. Other than that, a good read with some pretty memorable characters. Would recommend.

A great holiday read. I wanted the characters to find each other and get over the obstacles. Loved the detail about space - felt I learnt something and also more about flowers

What If I Never Get Over You follows the story of Ellie and Ash. They first meet while travelling abroad, they lose contact, and then unexpectedly meet again six years later. It is the perfect example of meeting the right person at the wrong time. Their story is beautifully written and had me hooked immediately! I stayed awake until 3am reading it and then completed it as soon as I woke up!

You can tell Paige does a great deal of research about the places in her books. Most of this was set in North Wales, a place I have visited many times as my in-laws live on the Shropshire/Welsh border. Reading about towns and landmarks I have been to really made me smile.

This is the second book I have read by Paige Toon now, having read Seven Summers earlier this year; she really has a knack for creating realistic stories that make you feel all the emotions. I will definitely be reading more of her work.

What If I Never Get Over You will be released in April 2025 and is available to preorder now.

Thank you to NetGalley and Paige Toon for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Review: 4 Stars

What If I Never Get Over You by Paige Toon is a heartwarming contemporary romance that delivers a delightful mix of emotional depth and escapism. With its richly developed characters and evocative settings in Portugal and North Wales, this novel is both engaging and heartfelt. Toon’s ability to bring real-life locations to life adds an immersive layer to the story—I even found myself googling some of the places and adding them to my travel list. The plot is a classic “right place, wrong time” romance, with moments of miscommunication and a will-they-won’t-they dynamic that keeps you hooked. Paige Toon’s writing feels like a warm hug, making this a perfect pick for fans of emotional, character-driven romances.

While undeniably heartwarming, the pacing occasionally felt rushed, leaving some moments a little underdeveloped. Despite this, the book still manages to hit all the right emotional notes, capturing everything from joy to heartbreak. It’s a solid introduction to Paige Toon’s work for new readers and a treat for existing fans. Though not without its flaws, this is a charming, feel-good read that balances fun with emotional resonance, and it will leave you eager to explore more of Toon’s novels.

Thanks NetGalley for letting me read this ARC for my review.

What If I Never Get Over You is a heartwarming contemporary romance novel with richly developed characters that you can't help but like. Set in Portugal and North Wales, near Wrexham, I could imagine the scenery and the real life places the characters visit. In fact I googled some of them and intend to visit them myself next year. (If Paige Toon is ever in need of extra income then she could easily walk into a job in travel blogging).

It is a right place, wrong time, miscommunication, will they, won't they book which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I recommend it to readers who enjoy books by Tammy Robinson, Jojo Moyes etc.

Book Review: What If I Never Get Over You

What If I Never Get Over You is a heartwarming romance that transports readers to the sun-drenched charm of Portugal, where love blooms in unexpected places. In Wales, amidst cottages and lush gardens. The author crafts an unforgettable holiday romance, weaving together themes of heartbreak, healing, and the magic of second chances.

What truly sets this book apart is its emotional depth. The characters are flawed, relatable, and raw, navigating the complexities of moving on while grappling with the fear of being vulnerable again. The tension between holding on to the past and embracing the possibility of a future is delicately portrayed, making the romance all the more poignant.

Perfect for fans of heartfelt love stories, What If I Never Get Over You is a testament to the resilience of the human heart. With its picturesque setting and deeply moving narrative, this book is a must-read for anyone looking to lose themselves in a story of love, loss, and renewal.

Rating: 4.5/5
A beautifully written romance that lingers in your heart long after the final page.

“One girl sits on a hill in Wales, falling in love with a boy. And nothing can stop it from happening.” -Ellie Knapley

Another heartwrenching novel from Paige Toon.

Paige is one of my auto-buy authors, her books are always full of romance, twists, emotion and incredible characters.

I've been so excited about this book and I was not disappointed, from the first sentence I was completely hooked.
I couldn't put it down, unable to stop reading Ellie and Ash's story.

I love the attention Paige gives to each location, always making sure that the reader can picture the things the characters are seeing. I was even more excited when I found out this book is set at Barkeley Hall in Wales, which is a couple hours' drive from where I live. I also may have squealed in excitement at the mention of LLanduno and Anglesea as I live a short drive away from both.
Because the book mainly takes place in Wales., most of the characters speak a fair bit of Welsh. Which, as someone who grew up in Wales, I loved seeing. If you don't speak Welsh don't panic as Paige has provided easy-to-find translations.

This book came alive as I read it, my mind travelling to the different places Ellie did.
I was with her as she let Ash guide her around Lisbon.
I was with her as she left her life behind and moved to Berkeley Hall to do what she loved.
I was with her as she took care of the grounds and found new friends and a life.
And I was there when things came to a standstill and she made her choice.
Paige has this incredible talent at bringing her stories to life and it's one of my favourite things about reading her books.

The ending was absolutely perfect. I always want more when Paige's books end and this was no different. Ellie and Ash's ending was such a good wrap-up to their story.

I loved Ellie's character development throughout the book, her journey from a shy girl who's left everything she knows behind to someone full of passion, drive and kindness for the people who trusted her and gave her a chance.
I loved her friendships with Evan, Bethan and Siân. She came alive when she was around them and they helped her come out of her shell and show her how incredible she truly is.

Ash was an interesting character to unwrap, you can always count on Paige for giving us an interesting male character in her books.
Ash was rather mysterious throughout the entire book, but I loved the effect he had on the people around him. Specifically the staff at Berkeley Hall. They all bounced off his energy and it was lovely to read.
Did I hate him for the things he put Ellie through?
Heck Yes.
Had I forgiven him by the end of the book?
Kind of.
He was a very nice man and I would have liked a bit more of him being the person that brings everyone together.

Did this book feel a little rushed at times?
Yes.
Did I wish some characters had more of a drive to them?
Maybe.
Did this affect my enjoyment of the story?
Not at all!

Overall I adored every second of this book and can't wait for others to read it.

The way I DEVOURED this book. Paige has done it again. She’s been an auto-buy author of mine for a number of years now, and Only Love Can Hurt Like This is possibly my favourite book of hers.

This story was good - the plot was a brilliant premise and the scenes of interrailing were incredibly realistic and I absolutely fell in love with Ash and Ellie.

The only thing that dropped this a star for me was from halfway through the book I started to really dislike Ellie. She’s a very flippant character who is the epitome of miscommunication. And although every scene felt purposeful, it felt very rushed at times, which I’ve never felt with any of Paige’s work before. We find out more around Ellie’s childhood which explains a lot of her thought processes, but I feel there could’ve been more of a build up to really show how that impacts her daily life.

I would still re-read it and I will buy the book when it comes out, and I fully recommend it to any fans of Paige’s or fans of emotional romance novels, but this one didn’t break me quite like some of her previous stories have.

A HUGE thank you to Paige and NetGalley for this ARC.

This is the 1st book I’ve read by this author.
I would rate the book a good 3 stars. It wasn’t fantastic in my opinion but a good filler book in between more complex plot stories.
I did enjoy this book but found it quite rushed but even then I found it lacking at times. All the negatives aside, it was a really heartwarming book filled with literally every emotion you can feel.
Thank you to Netgalley for this book in exchange for a review.
