"He's rough and he's tough but he still shouts the praise
Of the One Who so lovingly shaped his weird ways.
Was he made to inform of just to amuse?
Either way, here he is: the masterpiece moose!
I found out the moose were dangerous right before I came upon one - about 20 feet in front of us when we were hiking around Jenny Lake. If I am going to read a poem about the might moose, I want it from the perspective of someone else who has seen the majestic animal up close. And that is why I enjoyed Ashlyn's poems so much. She wrote about her experiences exploring nature.
Some of the poems are about animals, and some are about specific places. Certain seasons have certain muses. All of them give glory to the Creator.
The author's heart can be seen through her poems. Nature inspires her to recognize that there is more to the world than simply her own experiences. "It is grace, sometimes, that widens my trail and calms my winds."
This is such a sweet and inspiring collection of poems. The only slight problem with reading them from my flat state? I want to go to the mountains! I have read all of the author's fictional titles, and I am glad that I had a chance to read her poetry and prose as well.
I read this book through NetGalley. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own!

I was not a huge fan of this one. This surprised me, as I am a big fan of mountain hikes. I think the style of the poetry just didn't really speak to me.

Beautiful, spiritual, nature writing. I read this in one sitting but will definitely read again later so I can take my time and savor each poem!

A book of poems about the airhirs beloved mountains. However, every reader will find much that speaks to their own heart and spirit. Well worth the read.

This book needs to be read over a period of time and not page by page. This is a very personal book for the reader. I made the mistake of reading it from beginning to end and not taking my time. Therefore, I grew very tired of all the rhyming at the beginning of the book and many poems and essays seemed much too wordy. Even though the subject matter is my favorite, it did not touch my heart, but I am sure it will be a favorite for many, many others. I thank NetGalley and Words from the Wilderness for the advance read.
