Beautiful story of living through loss and overcoming trauma. This starts out very funny with the most awkward meeting possible. Lots of silly and quirky interactions as Maren and Ozzy get to know each other and flirt around a romantic connection. The book definitely gets very heavy and emotional as the story goes on. I didn’t expect to cry so much towards the end but the story is very intense. I liked the way the trauma was handled. The ugly parts made it feel more raw and realistic. Humans aren’t perfect and not everyone is going to handle trauma the same. Absolutely loved Ozzy’s daughter Lola’s journey. The healing for everyone was well fought for and earned. The epilogue scene is hysterical and the perfect ending for their unique story.

“Love doesn’t need anything more than a chance.”

“I want to pick up the tiny pieces and put them together with parts of my life to create something new.”

“The bigger the love, the greater the pain.”

“Maybe our love doesn’t make sense, but I love you nonetheless.”

“It’s never the things I see coming that take my breath away. It’s the moments that come from nowhere.”

I was lucky enough to receive this ARC from Valentine PR. I have been waiting on the second book in the Wildfire series since I read the first book.

I love this world and the characters. Found family is one of my favorite tropes and this series has that for sure.

Jewel E. Ann has an amazing way of developing relatable characters and making them feel like family.

This book follows Maren and Ozzy as they struggle with loss, grief, and how to ultimately be together. It’s a beautiful story.

Tropes: single dad, forbidden love, grief/loss

Be still my beating heart, it's just been stolen by a single dad and his adorable 10 year old daughter.

From Nowhere is the story of Ozzy who's trying to navigate life with his daughter Lola after losing his wife in a horrific accident.
Life has been hard for them both, but they've got each other.

I seriously can not tell you how much I absolutely loved Ozzy, his selflessness, tolerance and patience knew no bounds.
Ozzy was so laser focused on Lola it felt like he neglected his own needs and that made me feel incredibly sad for him at times even though I completely understood why. I just wanted to hug him as much as I did Lola.

After two years of just them Ozzy meets air tanker pilot Maren in the most cringe worthy but hilarious way and she's everything he never knew he needed. Maren is a badass, fearless and strong with a caring nature and kind heart she's amazing.

GAH! These two were incredible together, their chemistry was intense, the banter between them hilarious, the sneaking around was fun and the flowers OMG the flowers, so perfect and adorable.

I fell head over heels for the biker, the pilot and the 10 year old little diva. It was impossible not to.

I'm so excited for the next book in the Wildfire series, I need Will to get his hea too, that guy needs taming.

Jewel E. Ann never fails me. She always gives me absolutely everything I want and need in a romance and this book absolutely gave it to me. Once I started, I couldn't get enough of the story. Ozzy and Maren meet in a very unconventional way that had me absolutely rolling with laughter. The laughter didn't end throughout the story. The connection felt between these two was palpable from the beginning and their ability to play off each others comments had me really rooting for these two. As we've come to expect with Jewel's stories, there is always more than meet the eye and they will have their work cut out for them in order to find their happily ever after. Fear and pain also makes an appearance in the story and HOW they overcome all of this is why I love this authors stories so much. Lots of love, laughter, pain and a particularly cruel character (who eventually redeems themselves) gave me all the feels I needed.

Gah! All the feels! I loved this one so much!

We meet Maren in book one and absolutely fall in love with her! She is such a badass tanker pilot, is fun and sassy. And it makes her so perfect for Ozzy a single dad to a spunky girl. They all have the element of loss in their lives, and it’s all so very complicated.

I absolutely cracked up at the way these two meet! And then their instant connection once they see each other! It just crackled (I feel like I just made that up) around them. Ughh so good!!!

I knew that twist was going to happen, but it still didn’t prepare me for all the emotions that it brought and from then on out you just keep getting hit with them. Without saying too much, it was so beautiful.

Absolutely loving this series and so excited for the last book!!!

One of my favorite tropes is the single dad 😏. What could be better than reading about a man who knows how to take care of his own child? In this part, we get to know the story of Maren, Fitz and Jamie's neighbor from the first part of From Air, and Ozzy—a single father who lost his wife in a car accident and almost lost his daughter too.

This book is about the right to live after losing a loved one, about healing, about battling fears, and the ability to love without imprisoning your beloved in the jail of the fear of losing them at the cost of clipping their wings.

This book definitely adds to my shelf of favorite book stories. If you haven’t read the first part yet, you should definitely fix that soon. The author has a great sense of humor and writes in a very captivating way.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Jewel announces a book it’s added to my TBR as soon as possible. Once I read the first book I knew I had to read this one! I was not disappointed. What a beautiful journey she took me on.

"How is it possible to want to soar and feel grounded?"

Jewel's brand of emotional torture is my absolute favorite and as expected this story broke my heart while simultaneously filling it with so much love.

Maren was first introduced in From Air and I was so excited for her story. Her character growth from beginning to end was incredible and I absolutely loved her. Ozzy was such a complex character, having me alternating between wanting to hug and smack him. Their meet-cute might be my favorite ever, I was quickly addicted to their playful banter, and the chemistry between them was off the charts. Lola was such a perfect addition, providing laughs and overly emotional moments that I couldn't get enough of.

This story is an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every moment! The angst, humor, tears, and steam, are all perfectly balanced into one amazing story.

Every time I read a Jewel E Ann book I have to wonder why she's not world famous. Her books have it all. Wonderful characters. Thoughtful storylines. Great comedic timing. And ALL of the emotions. And From Nowhere has all of the above in spades. I smiled and laughed and then cried my dang eyeballs out.

From Nowhere is the second book in the Wildfire series of standalones about 3 roommates. Maren is a tanker pilot who fights fires. She's brave and obviously fearless and a little bit of a mess. While at work, she has the most awkward "meet cute" with Ozzy, an onsite mechanic. But awkward is memorable for these two.

"You're a beautiful mess."

Ozzy's life is complicated. He's a widower, single dad, and his in-laws live with him in order to make his life easier because of special circumstances surrounding his 10 year old daughter, Lola who is wise beyond her years. But his run in with Maren has him excited for what could be.

I don't even know what to say about this book except...I LOVED it! Every aspect of it. From how Maren let Ozzy take it slow and kept their relationship on the downlow to how Ozzy allowed himself to have a little bit something for himself. These two just make you smile and feel good, all things considered.

"Sometimes you just have to say f*ck it and kiss the girl. We'll figure the rest out later."

This book, every part of it, was perfection. From the fun friendship that escalated to flirty and sexy banter to being sneaky thirty somethings, it all just flowed perfectly. I loved that Ozzy loved his daughter so fiercely that he was willing to give it all up for her mental health. But that is the exact reason I loved Maren so deeply too. She understood their predicament and never, not once, made Ozzy choose. It was just so heartwarming. The love between Maren, Ozzy and his daughter, Lola was the backbone to this story and it will have you falling in love with them all.

From Nowhere is a story of second chances, facing fears and recognizing true love in all forms. You will smile. You will laugh. You will cry. But most of all, you will love. You will love these characters and everything they go through and you will love the way they love and sacrifice.

If you like:

Witty banter
Single Dad
Second Chances
Adorable daughter
Characters dealing with grief and loss

Then you will love this book. It's a beautiful story that will have you smiling yet frustrated for the first 3/4 and then weeping the last 1/4. Which all in all is Perfection!

From Nowhere is book 2 in the Wildfire series from author Jewel E Ann. This book is the story of Ozzy, Maren and Lola, Ozzys daughter. It is a story of love, grief, healing and a second chance at love. It completely gripped my heart, in a way that book 1 didn't and I was here for it.

Oswald, AKA Ozzy, is our hero. He lives with his ten year old daughter, Lola, and his ex-in-laws, Tia and Amos. It's been 2 years since his wife's death and for that time his only priority was Lola. Lola seems convinced that her dad is lonely and keeps trying to set her dad up. Ozzy, while at work has a meet-cute with Maren, in the men's bathroom of all places.

Maren, our heroine, has dealt with her own loss... her brother Brandon. We previously met Maren in book 1, as she is one of the roommates of Will and Fritz.
Maren wasn't looking for love, but she had this instant connection to both Ozzy and Lola. Lola is still feeling the effects of her mother's death, so it seemed to put a bit of a damper on ozzys chances at a social life

Because of Tia, Ozzy feels the need to sneak not only his relationship with Maren but in and out of his own home to see Maren. Although, the story delivers this in more a humorous way which breaks up some of the more serious aspects of the book. The story deals with a lot of different aspects that can affect the emotions...loss of a parent, loss of siblings, ramifications from that loss, fear of changes, loss of a child, blame.

If you enjoy emotional romance, with some of these other tropes like single parent n slow burn you are gonna want to add this to your tbr

Thank you to net galley, the publisher and the author for this advanced copy.

Another phenomenal book from Jewel E. Ann! I knew I loved Maren in the first book, and Ozzy is the absolute perfect partner for her.

-Female tanker pilot
-Male aircraft mechanic
-Loss of a loved one
-Strong themes of grief and trauma
-Overcoming fears

I wanted this to be a 5 star read, but there was a topic discussed near the 15% mark of the book that nearly made me DNF the book. I am SO glad I pushed through because the rest of the story was absolutely beautiful and moving and refreshing. The industry/topic discussed was completely unnecessary to the story, and I personally could not support the way it was addressed.

This was so good! Emotional, full of heart and humor. This story really stole my heart.

I fell hard for the characters, especially Ozzy. He's trying so hard to be a good dad and also overcome his trauma. I really liked his journey throughout the book. It felt realistic and genuine. Maren was a wonderful heroine. I enjoyed her character a lot. Lola was cute too.

The author does a great job balancing humor and emotional moments. From Nowhere is a nice blend of both. I felt the pacing and story development was well done too.

The romance is going to sweep readers' off their feet. It's romantic as heck! Plus it has so many good swoony moments. Maren & Ozzy were a perfect pairing. I could gush about these two forever.

I would say you could read this without reading book one, but it would help since some characters are reoccurring.

Great romance for fans of Brittainy C. Cherry. Wonderful contemporary romance!

I’ve never read a Jewel E Ann book before. But now it’s February 8 and I’ve read 3 of them. When I saw that From Nowhere was the second in an interconnected standalone series, I immediately wanted to read the first book first. And I ate it up! I was so excited to read Maren’s love story but was hesitant since single dad tropes typically aren’t my cup of tea. But Ozzy quickly had me under his spell. He knows how to treat a woman and make her swoon. I could feel his struggles with his past, in-laws, and truly wanting to do what was best for his daughter after the trauma she endured. Overall I ate this book up and I hope Will’s story is next!

I devoured this story from start to finish. I loved the story, the characters, just everything about it.
Jewel E. Ann writes stories that grab your heart strings and don't let go.
From Nowhere is the second book in the Wildfire series. It follows Ozzy and Lola as they navigate life after losing their wife and mom and healing from those scars and Maren who we met in book one. Maren is a tanker pilot that puts out fires where Ozzy is a plane mechanic. They have a meet-cute that will make you laugh.
Maren is grieving the loss of her brother so when she meets Ozzy and eventually Lola, she has a lot in common with them. She helps Lola in many ways and the bond they develop is very sweet. Lola has many scars both physically and emotionally and a lot of the story focuses on things related to that. Ozzy can only ride a bicycle around town due to Lola's fears. He is an amazing dad.
Together they navigate a new relationship, conquering fears and overcoming tragedy. I just loved how their relationship developed even though it was a slow burn which is usually not to my liking. Jewel E. Ann told the story in such a beautiful way.
Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster and the tears! I just loved this story so much.

Another five star read from Jewel E. Ann in this incredible series! From Air was one of my favorite books of 2025, and From Nowhere was equally amazing! It’s a heartbreaking story of redemption and overcoming devastating tragedies.

I loved Maren Bernabe going into this book, and loved her more by the end- she’s sweet, funny, and an incredibly loyal friend. She’s a tough firefighting pilot, known for her skills and steady calm in the face of danger. But despite being successful in her career, her personal life has taken a back seat- being gone for weeks at a time isn’t conducive to a relationship.

Ozzy Laster is trying to rebuild a life for he and his daughter in the wake of a great loss. He is incredibly patient and steady, going to great lengths to ensure his absolutely adorable daughter feels safe and protected. Ozzy is a really good man and the most amazing father- he has sacrificed so much, and is so selfless- his internal struggles with taking something for himself, and pursuing a relationship with Maren is a testament to the type of man he is.

Their relationship is definitely a slow burn- between Maren’s travel during fire season, and the complexities of Ozzy’s home life, the buildup of their relationship is stolen moments that always leave them wanting more, but their chemistry is so incredible.

Jewel E. Ann has been one of my favorite and most recommended authors for years and this series is exactly why. Her characters have such depth, and her stories are emotional rides that stick with you. I am very hopeful that Will’s story is next- I’m not ready to leave these characters!

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

I am loving Jewel's writing in this world! She can write some of my favorite angsty, emotional and swoony romances and this is no exception. I love that Maren is a pilot that works alongside the rugged firefighters and holds her own. Ozzy isn't looking for love and has to prioritize his daughter's future. Such a beautiful, heartwrenching story that brings out so many emotions.

From Nowhere was not what I was expecting at all as it left me with a buffet of emotions and is the definition of slow-burn.

My Heart is Sooooo Full!!!!

I have no idea why I even entertained any semblance of doubt about Jewel E. Ann's ability to make me fall even harder. I had one teeny tiny shadow of doubt saying "I don't know if this will top Jamie and Fitz..."

I learned you don't need to compare loves. Or Ozzy did... and I enjoyed the ride!

I was so excited to learn the world's coolest roommates would also get a chance to shine. I love this so hard for Maren!!! She's a special lady and it was an absolute joy and heartwarming to watch her fall hard and fast. I feel like a proud parent.

It's an intense and wonderful thing when love sneaks up From Nowhere.

A breathtaking love story that gives you wings.

This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. At its core, it’s about grief and healing, and learning to love again. It was a beautiful second chance live story that will have you crying with both sad and happy tears 🥹 It’s so vulnerable, and I loved how lasting an impression it leaves on its readers.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
