From Nowhere by Jewel E. Ann
5 stars
“I’m a goner. Single dads who say all the right things, pick the perfect number of wildflowers, and have the perfect hand brush before riding off into the sunset on a bicycle are officially my new favorite drug.”
The best meet cute. The slowburn. The chemistry. The single dad trope. The 6 flowers and handwritten notes. The sassy 10 year old daughter. From Nowhere was an emotional book of healing that left me crying, swooning and happy.
“The right guy can make any woman feel like a girl - a giddy, emotional, bursting-with-excitement girl.”
Maren and Ozzy are relationship goals. Be still my heart.
I am obsessed with roomies Will, Fitz, Jamie and Maren and their love stories! I cannot wait to read about Will’s story. I have a feeling that the Wildfire series will live forever in my head rent free.
“I will never stop thinking of myself as a fortunate man despite life’s tragedies. It’s never the things I see coming that take my breath away. It’s the moments that come from nowhere.”

4 1/2 stars
I really enjoyed Maren's story. Who would have thought she would end up with a single dad - - let alone one who had been through so much and was still working through so much.
Ozzy snags Maren's heart one sweet act at a time. The biggest way that he wins her over is through his love of his daughter, Lola and how he works to help her work through her struggles following the death of her mother. It's not an easy relationship for either Ozzy or Maren to be in but they are almost instantly invested and unable to walk away. It's as if they know almost from the beginning that there is something special there - - something worth the work they will have to put in.
It's an enjoyable and sweet read with some spiciness too just to keep in balanced. I look forward to getting Will's book next.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.

Thank you to Valentine PR, NetGalley, Montlake and Jewel E Ann for an arc copy of this book.
Ozzy and Maren were just wonderful.
Book two in the series, I think this book was better than Jamie and Fitz.
I just loved Ozzy from the start. His priority is Lola, his daughter. He wasn’t out looking for someone to fall for. It just happened and in the weirdest way. Luckily Maren didn’t make it weirder than it already was or at least she tried not to.
The banter between these two was perfect 👌🏼. I laughed and cried and just wanted to live in their world a little more.
I was not a fan of Ozzy’s ex in-laws. They really thought they could control him. But as always love comes through.
It was great to see Fitz, Jamie and Will again and their endless razing of each other. They’re a great bunch of friends.
When Maren hits some turbulence. Ozzy finds it difficult to deal with and with the help of Lola he is able to be there and get over his fears for falling for Maren. Maren on the other hand gives him space and waits, accepting that he is struggling. It’s through tough times that we learn who belongs and who runs. Who is worth it and who to let go.
I am looking forward to Will’s book but I think that From Nowhere will be my favourite in the series.
Can’t wait to read more from this author, she is fast becoming a favourite of mine.
Maren, Ozzy & Lola got 5🦋

From Nowhere was so good!! I loved Ozzy, Maren, and Lola. Their story was beautiful and so week written. Jewel E. Anne did an amazing job with this story. It was so complex and full of emotions. I loved Ozzy. He was so sweet and caring and real. Lola was great and Maren was perfect. I loved all the emotions and humor. This book had it all. And the spice was hot and slow burning. The ending was perfection and left me so happy. I cannot wait for Will's story!

Sad day, I was highly anticipating this book but I found that certain themes just didn’t sit well with me. I will try more Jewel E Ann books in the future as the first in this series was a 5 star for me.

Maren is a firefighting pilot. She meets Ozzy while she's in the men's room. The ladies' room is out of order. Not only does she need toilet paper, but she needs a tampon. He's a plane mechanic.
Ozzy is a widowed father of a precocious 10 year old. His former in-laws moved in with him when their daughter, his wife, died in a car accident.
Ozzy's daughter is scarred, both physically and emotionally. The two of them travel only by bicycle. So the romance between Ozzy and Maren seems unlikely at best. And yet, there are flames erupting from both of them. But they can't date like normal people because of 1. The bicycle situation, 2. The daughter, 3. The former mother-in-law laying down the law and blaming Ozzy for everything that has gone wrong in their lives.
Yet love always finds a way. So do two passionate people. Can they find their way into a more typical love relationship?
This book is full of passion, angst, and funny bits that made me laugh out loud. I think this is the best of the series, so far.

"Maren thinks she falls in love with me every day, but I fall deeper in love with her every second of every day."
First off, I am living my best life with Jewel giving us books from two different series that I'm loving with my whole being. Secondly, I try to go into her books blind since I know I'll love them. Right when I found out there was a single dad in this book, I was ECSTATIC.
It was the first sentence that made me fall in love. I may have started reading laughing, but there were plenty of tears from me. It was a treat revisiting Will, Jamie, and Fitz. Getting to know Maren and Ozzy and seeing their love blossom was so special. Lola though, she was absolutely precious.
I almost don't want to read anything right now so I can still bask in the beautifulness of From Nowhere.

“Love doesn’t need anything more than a chance.”
No matter how many stories I read from Jewel, my heart is never ready for the emotional journey her words take me on. And I absolutely loved Ozzy and Maren’s perfectly imperfect love story. It was an absolutely beautiful story of love after loss that moved me profoundly. There is no perfect timeline for healing from grief and the aftermath that an unexpected death leaves on our heart. And this story proved that sometimes fate has a way of stepping in when we least expect it. Ozzy and Maren’s hilarious bathroom meet cute was meant to be and brought a jolt of life back to Ozzy and his daughter Lola’s world.
“I don’t know if any part of me deserves any part of her, but I’m going to do my damnedest to pretend that every part of me does.”
It was so satisfying to see Ozzy and Maren connect with each other even if the timing was all wrong. Every moment of sneaking around to get time together, the sweetest flowers and notes and the best donuts around had me falling more and more in love. Their lives had both been impacted by loss and each dealt with it in the only way they knew how and my heart ached over the lasting effects the accident had on Lola. But I loved watching Maren connect with her and show her how to be brave again. They all needed each other and even when the road got hard, they were willing to fight to come out of it together! All my love to this romance!!
“I love you, even if it scares me to death. The only thing that scares me more is trying not to love you.”

Another book that left me staring at my wall wondering what to do with myself now that I was finished this chapter of the Wildfire series…
Jewel E Ann has quickly become a favorite author of mine. The way she writes draws you in right from chapter one, and keeps you wanting more. I couldn’t put this book down. Jewel’s writing is unreal! Think Nicholas Sparks, with a dash of tasteful spice thrown in the mix. Her stories are emotional with happily ever afters that take you on the biggest emotional rollercoaster while reading. Jewel makes sure you FEEL all the FEELS.
Ozzy & Maren’s story did not disappoint. Ozzy was amazing. He sacrificed so much for his daughter and tried to be the best dad that he could be to her after his wife passed. I loved Ozzy & Maren’s meet cute! So memorable. The way he courted Maren with notes, and wildflowers and banter was absolutely adorable but he also had a way with words (and a way with his tongue and hands). Having to keep their situationship a secret from Ozzys in-laws (who had moved in to help him take care of his daughter ) created so many obstacles. Be prepared to shed a few tears before you get to the happily ever after though… #worthit
I cannot wait to read Will’s book next!

From Nowhere is absolute magic! I fell head over heels for this novel from page one and was so taken with this romance! I don't feel like I have the words to truly describe how much I adored and loved this novel. Basically if you are looking to be swept up into a beautiful romance then Jewel E. Ann is here to take you on a sweet, charming, funny, cathartic and emotional journey. Ann's writing is comforting, joyful and endearing. Her characters dance with life and experience. This novel is engaging, deliciously paced, and will take you on the highs and lows of a romance with stunning characters you will wish were your friends in real life. Ann's Wildfire series has the perfect balance of sensuality, heartbreak and hope.
Maren and Ozzy are truly the perfect couple. They both have some past tragedy which gives them a level of understanding with each other. Ozzy is also a single father who would do absolutely anything for his daughter, and as his daughter begins to pressure him about dating, he happens to meet Maren at this perfect crossroads. Their romance blossoms with ease as they decide to "sneak around" like teenagers as they explore their chemistry and attraction. Their romance is sensual and sexy, it has this lovely level of humor and humanity that makes it feel real and full of depth. The relationship and adjustments Maren makes in regards to Ozzy's daughter is absolutely beautiful and Maren is such a truly beautiful heroine who sees Ozzy and understands him and the decisions he makes as well as the fact that his daughters needs must come first. I love that Maren falls head of heels for both of them, and she recognizes and know what she wants and what she is willing to do in order to show them her devotion.
I loved each page, each work, each moment and each feeling of this novel. This is one of those romances that will stick with me and I will be sure to revisit over the years. I so highly recommend this novel. I have enjoyed every novel I have read from Jewel E. Ann, and this one has immediately become my absolute favorite and solidified Ann as a must read author for me.

Jewel's Wildfire series has quickly nestled its way into my heart, with characters you can't help but fall for, plotlines that immerse you in the story effortlessly, and a unique kind of charm and writing style that makes her books so incredibly compelling.
From No Where was all this and so much more.
• Mechanic x tanker pilot
• Single dad
• Hilarious meet cute
• Life/love after loss
• Navigating grief
• Falling when you least expect it
For me, Jewel is unmatched at writing a story that makes the idea of grief, healing and courage to love again absolutely PALPABLE. In From No Where, we see this on full display, as our MMC Otto and FMC Maren (who we met in From Air) have the funniest meet-cute at work and subsequently become enamored with each other. Their love story is complicated by the fact that he's a widower with a 10-year old who suffered great trauma when her mom passed away, his in-laws live with him and don't approve of him moving on and generally, enough emotional obstacles to stack the deck against them. However, Jewel beautifully weaves a story that shows the power of the human spirit to carry on after loss, to love when it's seemingly impossible and to be brave, for yourself and for those you love.
The story was so perfectly emotional, especially when it came to Lola, Ozzy's daughter. Her growing relationship with Maren, desire for her dad to move on and her incredible perseverance was truly incredible to read. She and Ozzy are one hell of a team - and Maren rounds them out so perfectly.
This story has vulnerability and longing. Wit and quiet joy. I read it in a single day, barely coming up for air. Another perfect story from Jewel I feel really lucky to have read.

I really enjoyed Ozzy and Maren's story and Lola was the cherry on top!
I felt for Ozzy and Lola and the tragedy they endured. Lola's residual trauma that Ozzy accommodated and helped her work through was so touching. Maren and Ozzy's meet cute, was hilarious! I enjoyed the playful banter between these two and the obvious chemistry they had. I appreciated Maren's independence and a career she made for herself in a male dominated world was bada$$!
Emotionally, it didn't hit enough to be a 5 star, but it was a really good 4!

Single dad trope is one of my favorites and is becoming highly popular. This was done in a fresh and creative way. I enjoyed the back story of Ozzy and re- telling of the relationship with his late wife. Maren came into his life when he wasn’t looking. She was the perfect fit for him and their bathroom meeting, is one of the funniest scenes in the book. I can’t wait to keep reading more of this authors work. She writes real, relatable characters.

"I love you, even if it scares me to death. The only thing that scares me more is trying not to love you."
Jewel E. Ann has done it again! I cannot begin to describe just how much I loved this book. From Nowhere is just another reminder of why Jewel is still one of my favorite authors. Her books never seize to amaze me and this one didn’t disappoint! For me, this book was the perfect mix of two of my favorite tropes…single dad and small town. No one writes single dad romances quite like this author and this book was unlike anything I’ve read before. From Nowhere is a beautifully written story that will hit you with all feels! You’ll fall in love with Ozzy and Maren. Their sweet and emotional love story was filled with laughs, heartbreak, and plenty of spicy goodness. The chemistry and banter between them was done so well. There story is the kind of romance that will grab you from the start and never let go. It’s a definite must read for all single dad and small town romance lovers. I cannot recommend this series enough. I loved every bit of this story and look forward to reading more of Jewel’s books.

Ozzy is my new favorite single parent in any book. I loved this guy so much. Complicated, yet simple. He is so thoughtful and sweet. Gosh, I just get giddy when I think about him. I want to say more about him but I don't want to give any of the plot away.
Maren is the kind of heroine that I love and you can count on from Jewel. Strong, quirky, confident... A firefighting pilot. She is the perfect match for Ozzy. I loved all of her interactions with Lola.
Lola is an absolute hoot. She is 10, going on 25. She had me laughing so much. But she also had me in tears too. So much tragedy in her short life.
I also listened to some of this on audio, and I enjoyed it so much. The narration was terrific.

"Home is not a where, it's a who"
Ozzy, a single dad + airplane mechanic has a run in with one of the pilots, Maren. Sparks fly and whooing begins, but life (and Ex In Laws) seems destined to keep them apart. They keep sneaking around to spend time with each other so the In Laws + Lola doesn't find out. Reading about Maren + Ozzy's banter, Ozzy's struggle with moving on, and the things these two do to spend time together was such a treat.
I absolutely LOVE this series. These are interconnected standalones, but I do recommend starting with book 1 because so much backstory and character development is mentioned in book 1. Maren and Ozzie had my giggling and kicking my feet almost the entire time. Like her books normally, this book covers heavier topics, such as death of a spouse + death of a parent. I truly loved their flirtatious banter, lola's antics, and watching them fall in love. I definitely recommend this series!

Dealing with trauma is bad enough, but also having a child deal with it is another wheelhouse.
Izzy and Lola lost someone really special to them. Both of them have dealt with their trauma is different ways. Dad caters to daughter’s fears and Lola cripples her father’s future. But is this something they can over come?
Maren is living life to the fullest. Boy she can get into some doozies. No toilet paper, no tampons, food on her clothes. Having to embarrass herself further she asks for help. And falls in love. The tug of war these two face to come together is beautiful. And Lola she is such a doll. I really loved her from the beginning. She’s lost a lot in life but she makes up for it with determination and spunk.
Tropes: Single Dad, He Falls First, Tragic Past, Pilot/Firefighter FMC, Mechanic MMC,
Cinnamon Roll Hero, Secret Romance, and Small Town
Triggers: car accident(mentioned), death (mentioned), plane accident

This book had me from the first scene. Maren is a firefighter pilot and Ozzie is an airplane mechanic. They meet at work. Ozzy lost his wife 2 years ago in a car accident and has a daughter that won’t get in a car. They bike every where. Maren and Ozzy had great chemistry and so much great character growth for all the characters in this story. It was so well written with deep emotion that hit me in all the feels and amazing conflict that keep me glued to the book from start to finish. The spicy was perfect amount without taking away from the story.
I can’t wait to go back and read the first book in the series. This is my first Jewel E Ann book but it definitely won’t be my last. This book was provided by NetGalley and Montlake for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I liked it but I didn’t love it! I think I had such high expectations after reading From Air as that’s one of my favourite romance books and I’m sad to say this didn’t quite match up. It felt like a book of two halves, I wanted the angst and tension that we usually get with her writing and i felt it fell short on that front, it felt very insta lovey for me and also their actions felt a little childish at times, not that of two people in their thirties. However, the second half of the book redeemed it for me! This was what I was wanting and hoping for and I loved everything from about 60%! The second half had so much emotion and my heart broke for Ozzy and Lola!
I would still recommend reading it because overall, I love the characters in this series and it could just be a me thing. I’m still looking forward to the rest of this series

Jewel E. Ann can do NO wrong. I’ve read all of the Wildfire series and Sunday Morning series and all have been easy 5-star reads that have made me both laugh and cry. Ozzy was the best dad to Lola. Giving up the things he did, because of her fears. Letting her heal through her trauma at her own pace. Putting aside his own happiness for anyone and everyone. He loved big and he loved hard. And Maren, I loved her in From Air and now I love her even more. She stepped into the role of dating a single father with nothing but patience and grace. But the fact that she fell for Lola first? She showed up to help Lola through her fears with absolutely zero pressure. My heart 🥹 Their banter had me laughing until my stomach ached. So many sweet and cute moments. I will be thinking about Ozzy and Maren for a long time coming.
Thankful for an ARC from Jewel, NetGalley, and Valentine PR. Read if you love secret romance, workplace romance, single dads, small towns, tragic pasts, love after loss, angst, and a cinnamon roll hero.
