This is quite an amazing book! I found myself in awe of the creativity and innovative ideas revealed by the author, Sophie Stava! I look forward to reading more of her books.
This is the first book I have read and enjoyed despite not liking any of the characters in it at all (well, apart from Harper). I liked the insight provided into relationships and deception. People can be very difficult to understand!
The plot was outstanding and the pace really picked up to be laser speed at the end. You have to remind yourself this is a fictional book - not true crime reporting!
What can I say about the ending! I cannot even explain why it was most pleasing! Big smiles from me here. Did "karma" play a part - I wonder!
Anyway - the book provided first class entertainment and is thoroughly recommended.

I find this incredibly difficult to review without giving away too much of the plot and its twists and turns.
However, I think I can safely say that the start of this book grabbed me immediately - I was intrigued by Sloane's character, which is really well crafted to make the reader identify with and root for her, despite (or because of?) her lies.
The first half of the book was a real page-turner, as Sloane's world was fleshed out. The second half became even more of a page-turner - but unfortunately not in a good way. I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And honestly, when it did, the final fifty pages or so was just ludicrous, and undid a lot of the good work that came before.
Everyone's mileage will vary with this one, I'm sure. Most of the book was actually quite enjoyable and will lend itself to fans of Lisa Jewell and the like, as a twisty, frothy filler - if you can suspend disbelief for the end.

This book was a bit of a mixed bag for me. At first, I thought I had it all figured out, but then, around 60% in, everything changed. The point of view shifted, and everything I thought I knew was thrown into question. I won’t lie, at this point the story did get a little ridiculous, but it was also quite enjoyable. I can definitely see this making a great TV thriller. I won’t delve into the plot, but if you enjoy twisty thrillers and aren’t put off by a far-fetched narrative, I’d recommend giving this one a go.

When Sloane/Caitlin immerses herself into the life's of the Lockhart's it's just a case of waiting to see how her lies unravel. The twists make it enjoyable but there was one part that I found unlikely to happen in today's world. Other than that it was a good read.

Taut, Compelling..
Inveterate liar, Sloane, knows what she is but insists to herself that it’s harmless. Her lies are simply a way of making her own life a little more interesting. Right? Wrong. When a situation occurs where Sloane feels that another lie is in order, she does not hesitate to use it and soon weaves her own narrative around it - but is Sloane the only liar? Soon, the very truth itself may be the most dangerous thing of all. A taut and compelling, slow burn suspense with a cast of well crafted and often truly appalling characters populating the taut plot.

Bit of a slow start to this one however did pick up some pace and the twist at the end was good. Can’t say it was a book I couldn’t put down as I think it didn’t hold my attention nor leave me wanting to read late into the night. A good read for the beach but def not in my top 20.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

An easy psychological thriller style read, ideal beach fodder.
You do need to suspend belief, pretty much throughout but especially at the end, hence the 3* . That said it was enjoyable and light. I didn't warm to any of the characters but think that may have been intentional.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC which was very much appreciated.

This was such a clever, easy read with delicious awful characters. There are three twists in this that turn the book in completely different directions and are so well done. I liked the changing perspective of the narrative and loved that it was all along just one timeline. Some of the plot is far fetched and the myriad mentions of Taylor Swift was off putting but otherwise great.

A very slow and unbelievable book.
Sloane is a compulsive liar she meets Jay and daughter at a park and helps when the daughter gets stung by a bee and telling Jay she's a nurse she is invited to become a nanny/friend to the family and the lies continue from both sides and so unbelievable.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC and I give my honest review.

I wanted to like this book, based on the blurb, but it really wasn't good.
The main character was unbelievable, shallow and a naive fool. The other characters were similarly flawed. The plot was worthy of a fairy tale.
On a positive note, it didn't take long to read.
I shall not be reading anything else by this author.

Amazing! This bkew me away on so many levels. Such an original plot with twists I did not see coming. Its well written and the writing just flows really naturally. I was so invested from the start and loved every second of it

A brilliant story with one monumental twist in the middle followed by more!!!
100% recommend this book as a must read!!!

This is a fun imposter story which gets twistier as it goes on. Keeps you guessing and the characters are well drawn.

I LOVED this book. I flew through it and honestly couldn't put it down. It's one of those thrillers that I absolutely love - rich people drama, NY setting, domestic thrillers that I just NEEDED. Read this in a day and I will definitely be reading the authors next book!!

Really enjoyed this book. It had me gripped from the beginning.
I will 100% be looking out for more books by this author.

Count My Lies is a psychological thriller that grips you from its very first page.
Sloane meets a handsome stranger in the park & helps his young daughter with a bee sting. She tells them she is a nurse.
Sloane just happens to be a compulsive liar!
She inserts herself into his wealthy family & becomes friends with his with his wife, Violet. The family only know Sloane by the name Caitlin, or so it seems!
I found the book a fun easy read & definitely a page turner, the characters are well developed & the pacing is good.
A drawback was some parts were quite far fetched, but personally it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.
If you love a good suspense thriller I’m sure you will want to pick this one up!

This book had a great plot with intriguing characters. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author.

This book was so good, fast paced, easy to read with a twist at the end I didn’t see coming.
I struggled in the first section of the book, I felt it was a little samey, each chapter, thought I knew where it was going. In part 2, the book really picked up the pace and I couldn’t put it down! I finished it having my questions answered, I don’t want to say too much, so will leave it there!
I will definitely be looking out for more books by this author.

This is a compelling, tightly plotted psychological thriller. Sloane Caraway is disappointed at the way her life has turned out. She cannot help but embellish her situation with small lies to make herself seem more interesting than she is. She has lied her way through her entire life. When she sees a little girl crying in the park after stepping on a bee, Sloane can’t help but intervene by saying she is a nurse and can help. This is the lie that starts a chain reaction for the plot. The story is told in three POVs, and each time there is a switch in POV another twist is uncovered. The characters are well drawn and relatable. The reader needs to suspend disbelief at certain plot points but this does not take away the suspense and building tension of the story.
A fun and entertaining debut novel. Fans of Lisa Jewell will love it. Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for the ARC.

A fun read.
Count My Lies is a gripping psychological thriller that delves into deception, privilege, and the dark truths hiding behind a perfect facade. With a protagonist as complex and flawed as Sloane Caraway, the story pulls readers into a tangled web of lies that escalate with every turn of the page.
Sloane Caraway is no stranger to lying—it’s her coping mechanism for a life she finds underwhelming. But her harmless fibs take a dangerous turn when she pretends to be a nurse to help a little girl in distress. This one lie lands her a job as a nanny for Jay and Violet Lockhart, an affluent New York couple with a seemingly idyllic life. However, as Sloane becomes more entwined with the Lockharts, she realizes that their picture-perfect existence masks darker, more sinister secrets.
Count My Lies is a smart, addictive thriller that keeps you guessing until the very last page. Sophie Stava’s mastery of suspense and her nuanced exploration of the complexities of truth and deception make this a standout novel in the genre.
Perfect for fans of psychological thrillers with a dark, twisty edge, this is a must-read for anyone who loves stories about secrets, lies, and the danger lurking beneath the surface of perfection.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK Cornerstone Century for giving me an advance copy.
