Old friends, secrets, a Scottish island and a wedding. What could go wrong?
Nice enjoyable read, a bit slow at times, but kept me interested
Needs a little more details and maybe umph to give it more depth. Was a little lacking with the characters.
Thank you NetGalley for the copy

I went into this book blind. I received a copy of The Reunion from NetGalley. I wasn’t familiar with this author but I love a good psychological thriller! I wasn’t disappointed! Friends, secrets, murder… how could it be bad? Kept me engaged from the start and I loved the suspense!

3.5, really.
When 4 old friends (and one of those friend’s fiancée) get together for a road trip, things are going fine, if a bit awkward, until they stop for the night. Then things take a serious turn for the worse, and the friends are forced to make some tough decisions. And they eerily echo a situation from the group’s past that they’ve kept hidden.
The book is told from multiple POVs: the friends Dan, Zoe, Lilly, and excerpts from an old diary.
This was a hard book to rate, because it did keep me engaged and reading, but there were times I was super frustrated with the characters. It was definitely the kind of book where some open communication and conversations could have cleared up a lot of confusion. Instead, everyone was off having side conversations and walking in on each other, making assumptions about what the other people were talking about. It was kind of a mess.
But there were some really great twists in there. Once things get going and new elements are revealed, there were things even I didn’t see coming. It was actually a pretty suspenseful plot line, and you really didn’t know what was going to happen next.
I just didn’t really connect too much with any of the characters, who weren’t really that interesting, if that makes sense. I guess it was the constant miscommunication and some of their actions that just made me roll my eyes at points. I just didn’t love any of them. But it could’ve just been me. Maybe someone else will like them better.
So, I didn’t hate this book, but it wasn’t my favorite book. Perhaps you’ll have more luck if you like suspenseful friends-getting-into-trouble stories.

A very twisty book which had me interested right from the start. Full of twists and red herrings I enjoyed this one very much. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

This story reminds me why I don't go to reunions. These are people who haven't seen each other for years and who really don't like each other so why they decide to travel to a remote Scottish island together escapes me. It makes for a reasonably good story all the same. A bit far-fetched but enjoyable enough. Not a really good example of this author's work.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book

A great dark thriller about why sometimes you should not reunite with friends you no longer see. There is usually a reason you have all grown apart and in this case they have all moved apart to try and forget a traumatic event they were all involved in and none of them told the truth about. As they head off to a wedding it seems someone may well have decided now is the time to tell the truth and confess their sins but who can anyone trust as they don’t really know each other any more. This is a great read.

The book is written from the dual perspectives of Zoe and Dan, with occasional diary entries from the past. We know from the start that there's an event from the past that haunts the protagonists, and we gradually glean more of the story. There's lots to hook in the reader and make you think about what might have happened, and then there's a whole new situation thrown into the mix that sets everything on edge and really ramps up the tension. There are several layers to the story, and it's a real page turner. Plenty of tension and lots to keep you guessing

Absolutely brilliant book!
I am a big fan of this author and love the writing style!
I cant wait to read more!

This book was okay to start off with but just didn’t get any better unfortunately, I found it very predictable and it wasn’t one for me.

Thank you Netgalley, MA Hunter and Boldwood books for the eArc of The Reunion
I've read Sleep Walker by MA Hunter so thought Id give this one a whirl as I really enjoyed his writing style.
What I really enjoyed was the dynamics between the MCs and how their stories were interwoven. The pacing of the narrative itself was medium building around the characters and their backgrounds. Combined with the twists and the finale, The Reunion made for a great psychological thriller.
4 stars

Started off well, then kept going down. Normally, unlikable characters don't bother me, but this group of ppl left me not caring what happened to them. There was too much internal dialog, with not enough action. It was just too slow; dragged out in certain situations. Just didn't feel like a thriller.

The book was OK. It was fairly predictable. My guess was wrong on some parts but overall I figured out the plot twist pretty early on. This is a 2-person POV book along with a couple of chapters with a third person. In all honesty it should have been a minimum of a 4-person POV. After the plot twist was revealed I felt like it should have piggy backed off of the prologue, but it didn't.

One night. One mistake. One secret...

Hunter is back with a gem of a read that has been completely impossible to put down. I was hooked from the beginning of this one and devoured this in just one sitting.
There are a number of twists in this which keep you guessing throughout. I absolutely adored getting lost in this gem and became completely caught up in this one.
Hunter has paced this perfectly and it’s written in a way that you feel you are watching this unfold before you. This has been a twisty and enthralling read which I didn’t want to put down.
I’ve read a few of Hunter’s books and I can safely say they get better and better. I absolutely recommend this and I’m already excited for what may come next.
This is brilliant.

This was an okay story about a group of friends keeping a secret that years later someone else will kill to know. I liked most of the characters but it was a rather average read.

I enjoyed this. I didn’t love it, but I was invested enough in the story to want to know how it would end. Great plot with a good cast of characters who had interesting backstories. My only issue was that the way the characters were written, not one of them was likeable in any way - they were all SO suspicious of each other and lacked any trust for a group of friends with a secret they’ve kept for so long. And some of them were so fickle in their suspicions - seeming convinced of one thing and then with very little suggestion, convinced of the opposite. All of that made the whole thing a bit too far fetched for me to really buy into. I do think this has good bones, but just needed a little better character development.

I love a remote setting for a thriller, so this book was interesting from the get-go! This book was paced excellently and I look forward to visiting more of MA Hunter's work!

The Reunion follows four friends reunited for a wedding in Scotland, but old secrets resurface after two decades. Zoe, Lily, and Dan travel to a remote island for Ron and Bella’s wedding at his family estate. Lily drives them in her dad’s old Range Rover, bringing Zoe and Dan together again after years apart. Once close, Zoe and Dan had a relationship before Seth’s tragic death.
The book reveals Seth’s diary entries, which offer clues leading up to his death, making us wonder how they tie into the present-day tensions and buried secrets within the group.
The Scottish highlands set a beautiful yet eerie backdrop, adding to the suspense. While the plot was somewhat predictable, I still found it engaging and enjoyable.

This is an entertaining and enjoyable, fast-paced psychological thriller set in remote locations.
Zoe, Lily, Dan and Rod are friends from college who have drifted apart. They are all invited to attend Dan’s wedding on a remote island off Scotland. The tension begins to unfold as they all travel to the wedding in the same car with the addition of Dan’s fiancée, Bella.
Told in two timelines, past and present, with several point of view characters, the tension increases as the secrets each of the friends are hiding unravels their fragile newfound friendships. The remote locations added to the tense atmosphere.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley UK for the ARC.

Who generally enjoys reunions? I know I don't and never show up to such gatherings. Personally, I find them awkward and pretentious. Maybe it's just me being my introverted, highly anti social self or my lack of patience into dealing with trivialities or what have yous. This story is exactly what I dread about reunions and for lack of a better phrase, it would be better to just steer clear off them. Love the pacing of this boom and it wasn't predictable which I liked.

Zoe has lost contact with her friends Rod, Dan, and Lily since their graduation, especially after her breakup with Dan following a significant accident. Now, she receives an invitation to Rod's wedding to Bella in Scotland, but the situation is anything but ordinary. When they encounter trouble on a deserted road, it forces them to reevaluate their relationships and the truths they thought they knew about one another. This story captivated me from the start. Each character harbored secrets from the others, adding to the tension. The mystery remained unsolved until the final pages.
