I LOVED When Sally Killed Harry! I normally read romance and romantasy, but enjoy a good thriller every now and then. This was a perfect blend of thriller and dark humour, with revenge connecting women and helping them forge real friendships in the face of being hurt and wronged by men. The writing style was great, the prose and Sally's voice pulled me in right off the bat.
I kept wondering what kind of dark secret Sally tried, and failed, to run away from and the closure she got for her eight years old's self was very satisfying. Although her past was sad and tragic; and nothing would turn back the time.
Marie was my favourite character - and Sugar, bless her little fluffiness. I think I had the most fear for Sugar's safety at one point, which probably tells you all you need to know about me (animals > humans). But all the women in the book were fleshed out well and had distinct reasons for wanting to get their revenge on men.
Thoroughly enjoyed this dark yet humorous story. The cherries (who knew, lol. I'm on my third science degree and didn't), the twist at the end (which I did NOT see coming!), and the ending itself.
It was a bit like Ocean's Thirteen, if they planned revenge on scumbags instead of a heist.
The romantic in me kept hoping Sally and Harry could've been vengeful psychos together... But of course I knew this wasn't the point of the book. Harry was firmly dead. Not that he didn't deserve it.
Maybe a serial killer actual rom com next from this author? I'd love to read it!

A dark comedy thriller about female revenge. I liked the title, but it had nothing in common with the sweet romantic classic film. This novel was not for me and I failed I finish.

This is not a love story, it’s a rom-com gone rogue!
LOVED IT!! A story of revenge, but with depth! This touches on childhood trauma, abuse of women, some sensitive subjects and reveals a whole dark side to Sally Parker! I loved how we looked into Sally’s past through flashbacks and got to know her throughout the story, I really liked her, and I felt her retribution was warranted, we’d all do the same.. perfect for those Kitty Collins fans 👀
Thank you for allowing me to read this before release.

Dark,m humour, comedy and a thriller all in one.
I did enjoy this book but sadly I didn’t feel that urge to not put it down

Call me twisted, call me prurient but I really enjoyed this book. It was just up my dark alley! I love a retribution murder/revenge story, particularly if the revenge is justified, which in this story it is. A group of women collectively gang together to bring down the men who have wronged them. The men aren’t good people who have slightly erred, they are serial abusers. Yes you can say that this is a common theme in many books, but in the skilful hands of Lucy Roth the various stories and characters are elevated and each one is three dimensional and well thought out. I’m hooked and can’t wait to read more them this exciting author. NB this would make a great film/tv series - watch out on Netflix or other mediums

Well….Sally is a glorified serial killer. That being said…..all of the people who have become unalive due to Sally’s actions were very horrible people. This was a book unlike any I’ve ever read before. It was both entertaining and horrific. I’m still not sure how I feel about it.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. I enjoyed this book thoroughly. It was a fun and interesting plot and was witty all the way though. I was laughing out loud at some points.
I loved that each individual character had a well fleshed out story and that it wasn’t just the main character that got her moment.
The book deals with many different triggering topics so just be aware of that before going into it.

When sally killed Harry will be out on 27th of March 2025 ✨

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for allowing me to read an ARC of When Sally Killed Harry by Lucy Roth, in exchange for my honest review.
Do not mistake this book for the movie with the similar name. This is not a fluffy rom-com; this was a slightly dark, sometimes humorous, interesting, witty, quick-moving book.
I really enjoyed this story - start to finish!

This was a great thriller! I really enjoyed this one. an obsessed woman. yeah. a definite recommend.
Thanks publisher and netgalley. all thoughts are my own

I can’t say I ‘enjoyed’ this book as any book that is talking about violence against women is never enjoyable, however a group of women forming a club to get revenge on the men that have harmed them is quite an interesting concept.
Sally has moved to America to start a new life as she can no longer stand living anywhere near her mother’s killer. And then she meets Harry and thinks he might finally be the one…but then he cons her out of her life savings so she decides to get her revenge…
A nice straightforward read that doesn’t tax the brain too much.

This is okay for a throw away beach read, but the storyline isn’t particularly original - there are so many women taking revenge on bad men novels out at the moment - and, frankly, this falls beneath par against some of those.
That said, it’s an easy read and whilst the main character is pretty two dimensional, the book still has its enjoyable moments.

The Sweetpea series is one of my favourite of all time, and Sally is up there with my fave female protagonist Rhiannon from those books!
I absolutely loved this - it’s funny, hugely entertaining with an incredibly important underlying message around the epidemic of violence against women.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really hope it’s not the last we see of Sally!

This had a great synopsis however the story isn't any good. MC is a total bitch because she has some kind of trauma with her mother and men, it's never really defined so it reads like MC hates all men. She gets robbed by a dude from on-line. Starts a man hating club to get revenge on all the wronged women-again kinda a good idea but the story is clunky-goes from subject to subject with no real continuity. I was not enjoying the ride so I DNF'd at 77%. I gave it a good go however I don't care how it ends.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an ARC of this novel

This was my first book by this author, and it was a real page-turner.
This is a story of found family/you go girl vibes, as Sally (who is morally grey to begin with) finds an opportunity to get revenge on a slick conman who slid into her DMs.
Realizing she’s not alone, she unites with other women wronged by the same man and pursues revenge.
The whole “you messed with the wrong woman” theme was fun to read, and I recommend it.
I was happy to have received an ARC of this from Netgalley, and I voluntarily leave my review.

I had some expectations with this book, and they had nothing to do with the tittle being related to some famous and popular movie, I haven’t even seen it btw.
I think the beginning of the book was ok, but it took some time to develop, and at some point I found it boring and I just wanted it to end.
I don’t think the book is bad, I just think it was not the right time for me, I’m so sorry.
I still would recommend it to my friends, maybe they like it more than I did.
Thank you endlessly to the publishers and Netgalley for the arc.
Also, please everybody forgive me for my bad English.

If it’s wronged women taking out men let me tell you, I AM HERE FOR IT. There was literally no humour in this story I felt, it was rushed and everything was too convenient ! This was a bit disappointing- this had the potential to be really great with a lot of different women’s stories and experiences with bad men but this was not a book for me. There was literally no police interest in any of these crimes - and everyone was just too accepting of the crimes that were happening around them which made it all just slightly too unbelievable! And BOY did this author love ellipses… they were everywhere!

I can honestly say, hand on heart, I have NEVER read a book quite like this.
When I read the description it sounded interesting and had me wanting to read more and so here we are..I never actually expected it to be what it was though, it was so much more than I thought it was going to be.
Sally has had a heartbreaking childhood which in turn made her angry and cynical. When Sally is wronged once again by a man, she teams up with other wronged women to form a group to rally behind each other.
Sally doesn’t just want what he took back she wants revenge and won’t stop until she’s gotten it but revenge for Sally is so much more than you’d expect.
Can’t say I was a big fan of the obsession she seemed to have with Harry, her every thought seemed to go to him and her revenge towards him was completely over the top in my opinion.
Other than that I quite enjoyed reading this. It was thrilling to see what these women were going to do next.
It was funny and heartbreaking all at the same time. Hearing those women’s stories and their hurt was so sad.
When Sally Killed Harry is a revenge thriller focused on women getting revenge on men who have taken advantage and hurt them. It’s about women empowering women and standing by each other no matter what. It’s a touch dark but all around an interesting, fast paced read.

This was a great thriller! I really enjoyed this one so much, so much happened! I defiantly recommend this one to everyone!

The cutesy title and the revenge premise are all that this book has to offer. Poorly written with awful, one-dimensional characters. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I love a tale of feminine rage and revenge, but this one just didn't cut it for me, so I was left feeling disappointed.
Everything felt rushed, convenient and a lot happens off page.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc ebook.
