A great read from Josephine. It’s a few years since I have read any of her books. It tell the story of Rose and Daisy and the trials of working in service to make ends meet. It reminded me of the series Upstairs Downstairs..

After the death of their mother Rose and Daisy have to work to pay off her debts.
A story about family and the hardship of growing up the 1900’s with some likeable characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and to HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review. (less)

I really enjoyed this storyline and loved the main characters Rose and Daisy, and how their life changes with the sad demise of their mother. After everything goes wrong Rose and Daisy and they end up working for nothing to pay the passed on debts, for Rose she meets Gerald and again their lives change. All in all it’s a lovely story with great characters but I did feel the ending was so quick and it left me a little disappointed.
My thanks as always to NetGalley and to Publisher HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction | HarperCollins for the early read

Another good read from Josephine Cox. Rose has always dreamed of running her own tea shop one day but while she is a live in cook and has to send money home to help her mother and young sister her dream seems a long way away but what she doesn't know is that her mother has a secret and one which is threatening her family. Rose tries her best to help but thing's are getting out of hand and they are now being threatened and she can see no way out for all of them. Some great characters and a well written story that keeps you gripped from the beginning I loved it

Rose is a servant who lives below the stairs and dreams of owning her own teashop. She sends some of her wages home and on a return visit home discovers a secret that will change everything. Filled with mystery and suspense this is a book that I had a pleasant time reading and reviewing. I am happy that I got the chance to read this book and I urge you to give it a go too.

A Daughter's Secret by Josephine Cox

This author has wrote so many, excellent books I really don't know how she manages to come up with the wonderful plotlines that she does , and like her others this is a great read.

As a servant below stairs at the big manor house, Rose dreams of running her own teashop one day, and carefully saves a few shillings each week from the money she sends back home to her mother.

But on her next visit home to see her family, Rose is shocked to discover that their savings have disappeared, and her headstrong sister Daisy is keeping secrets.

Discovering that a poisonous menace has taken root in their happy family, Rose feels powerless to stop it. Can she save them from disaster, before they lose everything ?

Rose and Daisy are sisters but they both want different things in life and have very different ways of getting it . Loved the character Rose and I really wanted her wish of running a tea shop to come true . However she has to fight what happens and try to bring her family together .
Can she do it whilst trying to make her dream come true ?
