This read was a little over the place in some parts but over all, I loved the way writers block was written and discussed and the romance was something that I really enjoy. It was nice, fresh and interesting to read.
It felt like the process of our MFC dealing with and coming to terms with the troubles in her life was more of the focus than the romance was, which I wasn't mad about but would have preferred a little more for my liking.
At times it felt like there was way to much going on at once however, which made it a little hard to keep track of in the long run but if you read it in one large session, I think it isn't something that would bother you (depends on how you personally work though)

Stunning cover and an intriguing premise had me excited to start reading—but sadly, the story didn’t deliver. I finished the book still unsure what it was trying to be. Was it about exposing a bad guy in the publishing world? Or a slow-build friendship between two authors from different genres? What I do know is: it wasn’t a romance. There were no romantic beats or chemistry to support that label, and as a reader who picked it up expecting one, I felt misled and a little disappointed.

This is a cozy, feel-good read that really hit the spot. I loved the idea of two writers swapping genres—it was a fun twist, and the behind-the-scenes look at their creative struggles felt real. Allie and Will’s romance is sweet and full of playful banter, even if some parts of the story were a bit predictable.

The Plot Twist sounded like something I was absolutely going to love and in the end, it feel a bit short. While the storyline and characters were likeable, the romance aspect was not as present as one would have thought it would be. I think overall, there was too much trying to be accomplished and the execution was not there.
Thank you for my early copy!

Honestly, this was such a cute book 10 out of 10 will definitely recommend. it was a bit predictable, but it was a great pallet cleanser

The Plot Twist by Eleanor Goymer is a sweet contemporary romance set in the writing world. If you like books about books or books then you'll enjoy this one!
Synopsis: When romcom author Allie Edwards crosses paths with bestselling crime novelist – aka publishing dinosaur – Martin Clark at a party, they discover they both have crippling writer’s block, overdue manuscripts and precisely zero words to show to their respective editors. With deadlines looming, Allie and Martin decide to switch plots and tell each other’s stories. In the writing process, Allie not only gains a father-figure in Martin, but also meets gorgeous events caterer Will, the answer to the leading man-shaped hole in her life and her lack of spicy material. Caught between love and her career, what could possibly go wrong?
My thoughts: I was excited to be able to read this book. I found the cover illustration appealing and the synopsis and tag line both pulled me in. However, after reading I can say that this romance wasn't for me. I thought the story was slow and the main characters lacked any chemistry. I enjoyed Martin and Allie's relationship and the found family aspect, but I really didn't connect with Allie or Will and I absolutely HATE the miscommunication trope - like, act like adults and talk to each other. Overall I felt like I needed more from the characters and from the romance.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

The Plot Twist is a love letter to writers everywhere. Allie’s experience with writers block and imposter syndrome were all too familiar and real, and I appreciated the sentiment of networking and how writers can lift one another up.
The pacing of this book did feel slow, and I was left wishing there was more of Will and Allie’s romance on page. The conflict and miscommunication in the latter half of the novel was a little frustrating because it didn’t seem like a big enough deal to cause issues in their relationship.
But overall this was a neat idea and I enjoyed it.
Fave Quotes:
“Who would want to buy a book by a romance author who didn’t have any romance in her life?”
“How long could you go without writing and still call yourself an author?”

an absolutely amazing romcom. The writing was so easy to follow and the characters were all so funny and loveable. An absolutely fantastic read with a great storyline

I binged this book within a week and absolutely loved the concept of it. It was a super easy read and I definitely look forward to reading more of Eleanor’s work. I enjoyed the relationship between Allie and Martin and did not mind the light romance between Allie and Will. I loved that we were able to get a look into the publishing industry and how hard it can be to get through a writers block. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read your book! ❤️

There can never be too many books about book and the people who write them, especially when they are well-written rom coms. If this is in your wheelhouse, *it'll be in your wheelhouse*, you know? Just do it. You're welcome.

Was really excited to read this one as it seemed like it could be really fun and cute, but it fell so flat! I hate writing a negative review, but this was just not worth my time unfortunately.

It took me a few tries to really get into this book, the struggles of a mood reader. However once I really got into it I enjoyed it. I thought the story itself was really good. Definitely a good read for a filler book as it doens't have any major triggers or anything crazy like that. The characters I thought were well done and I enjoyed the way they all connected together in the end. I enjoyed the little bit of insight we got from an authors POV into their slumps and how sometimes you just need a little push to keep going. The only thing I really didn't enjoy was the miscommunication aspects, however I felt that once we got past that it was kind of needed for the story line itself.

Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this one. It was fun and I love books about books. The story line was good but I could have used a little more romance.

I really liked this romance as it was a mix of different vibes all in one. The romance was cute and i liked Allie and found her to be charming and slightly relatable. The side characters were good and i loved the mix of central conflicts that were occurring. The publishing story line was interesting and it made it stand out from other romances i've read this year. I enjoyed the london-ness of it as well and it was nice being so familiar with places mentioned in it.

I missed the romance part! I thought there would be more than this, but I recommend the book. Because the story was strong and beautiful.

The plot twist of this book was that it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be? I remember when I first started it, I was a bit bored and waiting for myself to get interested in the plot or characters, but little by little, our couple won me over and I had a good time with this one overall :)

This was such a cute and heartwarming story!! Will definitely be reading more books by Eleanor after

Ok this was really good. I really enjoy it . I feel the story was well set up and that it was super engaging. I like how Allie and Martin are helping each other in their writing and how she helps him with his marriage. Will and Allie relationship was well done and I enjoyed it. Everything was very well balanced.

I read the premise of this and thought I was going to love it. I am a huge sucker for main characters that are authors ( don't ask me why). But this book wasn't it for me. I really don't like the whole premises of a book to be miscommunication and basically Will and Allie. First she things he is a waiter, he isn't, then she meets and starts working with his dad, and then lie about it to everyone, then when they finally get everything worked out, we are getting together, the ex-boyfriend lies and says Allie and him are together and Will doesn't talk to her and they break up again. This is like middle school drama.
There was also like 3 or 4 different plot lines going throughout the book, the whole things with Verity and the publisher, the issues with Martin and his daughter/wife and then her best friend wanting to move away and I think something was being brought up about her father's death. It was like a million things happening but yet the story still felt slow, and things were trying to be connected but really didn't have anything to do with each other. It felt a little chaotic.
If I hadn't been reading this as a netgalley book I would have DNF'd the moment Allie found out Will was Martin's son and then lied. That is deal breaker behavior for a romance character, but I kept pushing through.
The one part of the book I did really really like was Martin. Allie's relationship with Martin is probably the best part of the whole story. I love how they come together, how they immediately find a kindred spirit in each other, how they helped each other with their writings, with their love lives. Lets face, their relationship was this story. If you had taken out the Verity/ Bad publisher story line, the best friend moving away and just focused on Martin and Allie's working relationship and how that would affect her relationship with Will - that would have been a really good story.
Anyway - not every book is for each person.

Gus and January is that you?! I like that 2 writers fighting over a book deal trope is getting more famous
