Tamsin Shaw survived a terrifying accident, and was for months in a coma. She now lies in a permanent vegetative state in a small, but select nursing home. She is cared for by Hannah, a brusque, capable person who doesn’t hang about but knows her job, and Milena, a quiet, sensitive young woman, who seems to know what Tamsin needs and shows compassion in her caring. Although totally paralysed, Tamsin is able to hear and understand what’s happening around her, and after twelve months in the home she has become acutely aware of her surroundings and her visitors. If only she could let everyone know she is still there!

This story plots alternatively between the now, with Tamsin frustratingly unable to communicate, and three years prior, when she was a renowned criminal psychologist, married to Jamie and expecting their first baby.

Convicted rapist Richard Mandeville has been released from prison after serving half his sentence though he has to attend therapy. As someone who has always protested against his sentence and proclaimed his innocence, Richard was never going to be an easy client, so when Tamsin becomes his therapist things get very interesting!

From the start I was really into this book. Loved the premise and enjoyed the characters. It did slow down a bit about halfway through, but this gentle lull soon became a a page turner as the storyline developed and the ending was very good.

The stuff of nightmares, a definite recommendation!

Thank you NetGalley and HarperNorth.

This is a book that it would be hard to not enjoy. The premise of only hearing voices around a hospital bed was incredible and was backed up by a really thrilling plot.

This book isn’t for any select group of people, it is for everyone and each will find something different.

WOAH! It’s been a while since I read a book in a day but this book really captivated me.

Voices - the only thing that Tamsin can listen to while in an unresponsive state. Listening to conversations in her room but not being able to have a conversation or ask more questions.

The story flowed perfectly. I liked it when it went back in time and then to the present. I did not expect that ending. Loved loved loved it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

A fun read.
The Voices is a chilling psychological thriller that grips readers from its eerie opening line and doesn’t let go until the final revelation. The novel centers on Tamsin Shaw, a criminal psychiatrist who has been comatose for three years but remains terrifyingly aware of her surroundings. Unable to open her eyes or communicate, Tamsin listens intently to the people who visit her hospital room: her husband, best friend, ex-boyfriend, former patient, and nurse. Each of them harbors secrets, and one will go to deadly lengths to keep theirs hidden. Chandler masterfully builds tension, using Tamsin's immobile yet perceptive state to create a claustrophobic atmosphere. As Tamsin pieces together clues from conversations and interactions, the reader is pulled into her silent world, where every word and action takes on heightened significance. The unique narrative perspective—a protagonist trapped in her own body—adds a layer of vulnerability and urgency that sets this novel apart from traditional thrillers. The characters are well-drawn and complex, each carrying their own blend of guilt, fear, and motives. Chandler skillfully weaves their stories together, leaving readers to question who can be trusted. The psychological depth of the novel is compelling, especially as it explores themes of betrayal, manipulation, and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets. The twists are expertly timed, and the pacing is relentless. As Tamsin races against time to understand the truth, the tension builds to a shocking climax that will leave readers reeling.
Thanks to NetGalley and HarperNorth for giving me an advance copy.

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to review this arc.
Firstly the opening was wow! Pulled me straight in.
I personally love a book about a character in hospital in a coma able to hear what is happening around them .
For me personally after the first chapter up until 80% it was a slow burn.
It also felt a little predictable and due to that it took me a while to read as I didn't find myself desperate to pick it back up.
Overall good read but I could have done with a bit more drama

Wow, I devoured this book as I just loved the whole concept of it and thought it was extremely smart. It was definitely unputdownable because of its many twists and mind-blowing turns!

I was engrossed from the very first line of the prologue dying to know what would happen next for Tasmin and the rest of the characters. I really really hope there is a follow up book!

I’d highly recommend this book and I wish it could read it again as it was that good!

This clever intriguing read is just amazing.

It is modern, creepy and I loved it.. Although I have had some health issues that have resulted in a stay in hospital this kind of genre really does give you the jitters.

The Voices is well written and I loved the drama. It ended well and as this a new author for me I will be on the lookout for more from her..
