Oh Kathy! I usually love your work but this one didn't gel at all. It just wasn't funny. So disappointed.

I really wanted to like this book. I really did, and although Kathy Lette's writing style is great (I really enjoyed her earlier novels, such as Altar Ego and Mad Cows), the premise of this novel didn't quite sit right with me. The book includes a rape case involving a 16-year-old girl which, in a chick-lit novel alongside humour and relationship drama, just doesn't work well. Dark plot elements do have their place in chick-lit sometimes, but I think this was a bit too much.
