This was absolutely outstanding and I bought a copy for the library and myself. The recipes were great riffs on classics, and some interesting new flavors. Clearly presented and well written!

I have been an avid gardener all of my life, so preserving what I grow is very important to me. I really enjoyed this book for the reason that the author had a keen interest in eating seasonably and with little waste. While I think this book is more geared to people with preserving experience, that doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t work well for someone just starting out. There are enough recipes in here (100 in all) to appeal to any skill level. I found it worth it alone for the chutney recipes, because chutneys are one of my favorite things to preserve. Making your own homemade chutney, as with anything homemade, the ingredients are controlled, and the flavors are so much more intense.

This book is a wonderful guide, because not only does it provide you with wonderful, varied, tried-and-true recipes, but it gives you step-by-step instructions as to how to go about the process of preserving, as well as tips, along with advising you as to what equipment you’re going to need so that you can go into it well prepared.
